Is The RAM 3500 Any Good For Hauling A TRUCK CAMPER?

- Is the Ram 3500 a good truck for hauling truck campers like the Lance 975? In my experience, ABSOLUTELY!! I’ve loved this truck because the power is at the top of its class, and it has been very reliable. The only things that I might change with my next truck will be a better interior package, and I likely would go with an aftermarket airbag system for a little more flexibility.

i have a 2019 ram that i got new 6.7 diesel and all i do is pull with it and pull big campers best truck hands down Nov it will be 3 years old and i have 479374 miles still runs strong.
Is that a mistake how many miles
@@papimedero6701 well now I have 496396
@@papimedero6701 No mistake I put ever mile one it since new
@@WhitchurchFishing1 you're saying you put 450+ miles on, every single day, since the day it was new? I don't even think that's possible...
Great video. I have a 2010 ram 3500 dually and just got a 1997 Lance 990 (biggest at the time) . It’s doesn’t have air bags my suspension guys added a leaf (I had one broken and had it checked out before I bought the camper)
I do love the engine break I use it all the time too. The tow mode I’ve only used when towing I will have to check out if good while carrying truck camper
I might have missed it, but how does it do pulling the boat? Does it really add to the power applied to pull it in addition to having this big camper? And, how does the boat track behind? One more thing, how about pulling the hills, especially the steeper grades? Im in the market and really having a hard time choosing.
Be careful with the transmissions.
Just talked my wife into this exactly lol. Sell our house buy property and build a barndominum while we live in a 5th wheel
What tires are you running now?
You should weigh Your Rig On A Cat Scale to Make Sure You Are Not Over 14000lbs You Don’t Want to Fold Up Your Frame Like Happened On A 2020 Ram 3500 with A 12’ Eagle Cap Camper
Mines quite a bit lighter than that Eagle Cap (I’m about 1500lbs less). Still, that story of that guys truck is a important reminder to properly match your truck and camper. I think there are many people that are over their payload on the road today.
My father bought a brand new 1997 Ford F250 with a 7.3 turbo diesel, which he gave to my son before he passed in 2018. That motor is a straight beast. We recently upgraded to 300cc/200% injectors. Afterward, I told said to my son, "You know how before you could haul a load of Corvettes to a dealership?"
"Yeah." he replied.
"Well now you can unload one and drag race it. And win."
That total overkill of a truck has the main job of towing our 32 ft fifth wheel camper. It doesn't even know that trailer is back there. It's 25 years old now, and it looks it, but that truck will still pull anything you want it to and more.
Mpg ???
I personally wouldn’t. There was a video on this type of setup recently where the frame cracked in half and it wasn’t covered because those campers overload the trucks depending on trim and engine combo.
I’d of went with a 2020+ f450 if this is a full time gig… Ram 3500 is a ticking time bomb.
that and ram frames are just shit
If I had a larger truck camper I’d be pretty concerned. Fortunately my 975 is pretty well matched with my 3500 at under 4000lbs. I agree, I dont think I would consider a multi-slide camper for a 3500 after seeing the pic on the Eagle Cap.
@@SonarFishing what’s your trim and engine combo again? Check your vin on the Ram website and it’ll tell you your exact payload
This guy literally showed himself more than he did the truck
This comment comes from a guy that show himself with his shirt off. duh.
