Closeted gay men have so sing with the choir. Later, when the closeted men get outed they play the clips of them saying homophobic things but you don´t hear circumstances they had to conform to. In my experience most people don´t care, but a few mean spirited people keep up the persecution and make others take a side. When being gay was a death sentence socially most straight people went along. They didn´t need the hassle of someone else´s fight.

It won’t hold up in court. Slander means intentionally and explicitly making false statements to defame someone else. Speculation is not slander.
David never outright said Jesse is definitely gay, he just shared his experiences with him and said it would make sense if he was, which is vague enough to not be slander. Jesse can sue if he wants to, but I’d be surprised if he actually won

SHOCKER! I remember having a coworker a few years back who was around 50 and whenever discussing gay people would refer to them as fucking faggots or talk about how sick they made him. He got very upset with me one day for letting him know that any time someone of my generation heard somebody talking about gays with that type of vitriol we just naturally assumed they were closeted homosexual‘s themselves.

I actually knew someone like that when I worked at retail many years ago.
There was this dude who wouldn't shut up about how gay people were disgusting. He would bring it up at the most random moments. In the lunch room, he would constantly make jokes about gays. He wouldn't shut up about it. It was like an obsession. "There he goes talking about gays again" we said while rolling our eyes whenever he started with that sort of thing.
Anyway, it came out that this guy was in a relationship with a dude from another store. They saw them together on dates. Photos surfaced showing them making out . And once the word got out, his entire homophobic routine was destroyed overnight.
People were very ruthless with him after he was outed as gay. I honestly didn't give him such bad time like the others. But I did tell him that none of it would be happening if he hadn't made being homophobic such a big part of his persona.
He asked to be moved to another store soon after that.
It's unwise to come to conclusions about specific people based on generalizations concerning certain kinds of behavior. I realize, on the other hand, it must have given you some satisfaction to shut this offensive guy up (should be offensive to anyone of whatever sexual orientation), and that was a pretty effective way to do it.
The first case I remember of a prominent so-called conservative who was publicly virulently anti-gay but was himself engaging in homosexual activities from the time he was a teenager, until in his 40's he propositioned a gay hustler and was caught, was Bob Bauman (still alive at 85), a Maryland congressman who was very much screwed up mentally about his homosexuality and was so homophobic. That's the right word to use in his case because he was so afraid (phobic) of being a homosexual, having been inculcated with the idea that all gays were evil. Very few people actually want to see themselves as evil.
In general, I ask why some people, too many people, get their jollies by hating other groups, whatever kind of other group. They leave themselves open to total manipulation by unscrupulous leaders who prey on them with the simple tactics of fear and flattery. Seems to me we need to teach our kids not to be so afraid of anyone or anything that they cannot prove is worthy of fear, i.e. you don't succumb to a feeling until you can prove to yourself your fear makes sense. Fearing a rattlesnake or a Category 4 hurricane makes sense. All rattlesnake bites are dangerous, if not necessarily fatal, to human beings, as are all Category 4 hurricanes. But not all gays are dangerous. Being gay is not dangerous. (You'd think Jesus would have mentioned it if it were. Slipped His mind?) Blacks are not all dangerous; neither are all Russians, despite what is happening in Ukraine, nor all Muslims, despite what happened on 9/11.
So, yes, there may be some reason to believe that someone like Peterson is hiding a fear of being homosexual himself from us and more importantly from himself, while he finds ways to justify "falling off the sexual wagon" to himself now and then. Bauman, for example, became dependent on alcoholic stupors to get himself through life, and blamed his "transgressions" on the booze, instead of facing up to his own authentic feelings he was trying to cover up with the booze. But there could be something else going on in the minds of other homophobes to react irrationally to LGBTQ people, People who fear Blacks aren't hiding the fact that they fear they might really be Black, are they? People are fearful for lots of individual reasons.
Anti gay? Just because someone doesn’t join in a celebration of gayness doesn’t make them anti anything. People have a right to feel whatever way they want. You don’t have a right to force people to accept your own beliefs.

I was just listening to a psychology podcast about projective identification, and JLP is such a perfect example of this. Any trait about himself that he dislikes or feels immense shame about, he projects onto others and demonizes it. He feels ashamed to be gay, so he bashes gay people. He fears being weak and not tough enough, so he idolizes “alpha males” and mocks the “betas.” Even his anti-black people rants are rooted in projection of his own feelings of inferiority.

Honestly, the right never changes. If you don’t talk about them, you’re “silencing” or “cancelling” them, but if you address them, and the entirety of their character, not just the parts they want you to address, you are shaming them, behaving hypocritically, and for some reason, implied to be insecure.

There is an interesting issue inside of David's story. At the time, he felt a little awkward about the handsiness, but he shrugged it off as eccentricity. This is like when women make light or laugh about things that actually are quite upsetting. We don't want to blow a bomb up in the middle of the room at the time it happens, we are programmed not to quote "upset" men, the man in question is a superior, etc. But we might end up being called liars later, when it is remembered that we didn't instantly rear up in all indignation..
