you can accelerate whilst falling by using the king slime mount which doubles vertical movement speed decreasing your falling time of 6.5 hours down to 3.25, however considering the time to equip the mount and the places where you can equip it you're looking at around 4-4.25 hours of falling time, which saves you about 2.25-2.5 hours.
I'd like to think that the Dirtiest Block being a hard block is an implicit understanding in the player character not to ruin its perfect dirtiness by carelessly hacking away at it
Uh oh. “Project webhead” better not be “Terraria but all air blocks are filled with cobwebs” or “Terraria but the entire world is filled with spider walls”
"This was supposed to be a short video idea" is a funny statement to make for a task so monumental that even the work to estimate how long it takes is a monumentally big project in and of itself. Edit: If you ever want to actually mine the entire world with just copper pickaxes, please do so together with an army of friends in multiplayer, that way it will not only be less harmful to your sanity, but you also get a very satisfying "looking at ants work" timelapse out of it in the end.
"Then we'll at least know whether this is something at least somewhat reasonable to attempt." I like the pretense that we don't already know the answer before you even start the estimates.
also! cobwebs in the nests won't respawn if you break surrounding blocks, as walls can only spawn a cobweb in the presence of a solid block. so it's fine to skip them.
Lmao, that brings me back. I remember playing that world all the time before I properly bought terraria on console. I still love the floating island look the tutorial world had
Me and an old friend destroyed an entire world with the DCU mount.. I think it took us over 15 hours but this was maybe on 1.3.3? Thanks for bringing those memories back, I miss him.
absolutely amazing video, super impressive how much work you put into little projects like these. always looking forward to your next upload, keep it up!
i once mined out an entire small world manually kinda like this, but my methods changed over time. i started with mining buffs, the best pickaxe, etc., and digging 2 block chasms, then i switched to the drill containment unit, and finally settled on a celebration mk2 with rocket IVs for ammo. oh, and i did then go back and destroy every single wall in the world too, and then i set up some infinite liquid machines and flooded the entire world with honey for funzies (there's a video or two on my channel about this lol). i'm not sure how long it took overall though, and i couldn't even begin to fathom an estimate. what i can say with certainty, however, is just how therapeutic an activity like that can really be. just put on some nice music, zone out, click on blocks to explode them. it was a great stress relieving activity lmao
I'm quite sure no thought containing the phrases "the very first mining tool you get in the game" and "mining the entire world" ever crossed my mind Mr Wand of Sparking, and even if it did I'm not nearly crazy enough to consider it!
Mossy stone is slower, but only with fast enough picks, same as grass, because they always require a first hit to break the grass/moss and a second to break the block, but a copper pickaxe already needs more than one hit to destroy stone or dirt so it's unaffected. On the plus side I suppose that means you don't have to try and take moss/grass spread into account. If it's For the Worthy you also have a chance of a pot or tree dropping a lit bomb. Bonus note, I believe the Cactus Pickaxe is slightly slower than Copper as of 1.4's nerfs, though the added reach would ever so slightly speed up mining during falls.
9:16 Is this actually an accurate adjustement? If ambrosia increases your mining speed by 5%, then let's say it increases your mining speed of 1x by 5%, making it 1.05x. So if you decreased your mining speed in the spreadsheet (which would've been equal to 1.05x) by 5%, then you would've decreased it by 5% of 1.05x, which is more than 5% of 1x. It's definitely very minimal, but it's used in a very large scale calculation.
List of blocks that make this literally impossible: Crimstone/Ebonstone, Crimtane/Demonite ore, Lhizard brick, Dungeon brick, Hellstone ore, Obsidian, and possibly Meteorite ore, depending on weather or not you allowed yourself to break the shadow orbs/crimson hearts with a hammer, also evil alters protect the blocks they are on so those too, so if you want to break those you need to kill the wall of flesh, then break those with a Pwnhammer(or higher) which would add hard mode ores to the game, none of which can be mined with a Copper Pickaxe. In other words, it is LITERALLY impossible to mine the whole world with just the copper pickaxe. Now to see what exemptions you give yourself to either allow it, or tell us why it's impossible.
Maybe you could do it as a collaborative project? Maybe four people responsible for a quarter each? Then it would be down to 100 hours per person -- still alot but way more doable and having friends working together would be way better. You could do more people but the main issue would be trusting that they all do it correctly and don't cheat
Go in TEdit, take every 5th or 10th or 20th vertical slice of a world, make that into one squished world, and then mine that and divide that number by the % of the world that you just mined
It's gotta be something crazy like 72 hours, right? That's assuming you make it possible to mine all the blocks, no drowning, no enemies, no traps, no dungeon guardians to interrupt, etc.
I for one really enjoy these analyses where you get super technical and bring out the math in full force. Keep them coming! ... after you've rested enough from this stunt, of course 🤪
i think your methodology was mostly accurate but one small optimisation would be to mine upwards rather than flying back to the surface after every chasm, you could either do this with soaring insignia or grav potions and it would save a lot of time. also as funny as the concept is i think this is a terrible idea for a stream lol, it would be a lot more fun to do it the old fashioned way with a DCU (or to be more true to the concept use a shroomite digging claw or post-moonlord pickaxe with all the mining buffs)
Regarding the sand, why not use track and ignore the differentiation between water/no water? I'm a bit tired so I might have missed something in there. In theory cursed torches or similar also could work but IMO track is the fastest to lay/support evenly if required since you can do all of it from the same end.
Rather than mining the blocks above you on your ascensions, you could try and chip away at the next column over. I imagine it'd only take out some dirt and any other 1-hit blocks, but it might be a slight improvement.
you should consider doing a tedit guide series , i've messed around with tedit , but some things are still hard to figure out and the official discord it very slow to respond , i would like to figure out how to use it like you do in your videos
Hell I'm currently clearing out a large world with the riding mining mount and THAT is taking forever. I can only imagine how long this would take (commenting pre-watching video).
Third time's the charm
wdym, clearly this is the first and only time this vid was uploaded :clueless:
why was the other videos not showing up again
I farted

Or that it's so dirty that it takes more effort to mine.
it's a denser dirt block
it's denser than a standard dirt block, just like you
Happy to see WoS go the challenge youtuber route of devolving into challenges that can double as torture methods.
why
Terraria is a souls game confirmed
i think he did that a while ago.
What a year with no updates does to the community:

Year? It's been 2 years and 5 months since 1.4.4!
Never read A Song of Ice and Fire. That way lies only madness and pain.
Uh oh. “Project webhead” better not be “Terraria but all air blocks are filled with cobwebs” or “Terraria but the entire world is filled with spider walls”
didn't he already do that last one? or was that another youtuber
@@gamingcookierealCrabBar did that one

you know it's serious when Canadien breaks out the spreadsheet
Man, those boots really did drive you crazy huh?
instead of torching, you can also use any rope. it breaks the sand all the same, and works underwater.
also! cobwebs in the nests won't respawn if you break surrounding blocks, as walls can only spawn a cobweb in the presence of a solid block. so it's fine to skip them.
Flex rope, it even works underwater!
@@lovelykek9298he figures that out right after he does all the web math in the video haha
for the water issue: what about cursed/ichor/coral torches? those work in water
28:07 tutorial world jumpscare
Lmao, that brings me back. I remember playing that world all the time before I properly bought terraria on console. I still love the floating island look the tutorial world had
Excuse me pls tag this as horror, as an art student I did NOT expect to see so many charts and graphs in my own home
Me and an old friend destroyed an entire world with the DCU mount.. I think it took us over 15 hours but this was maybe on 1.3.3? Thanks for bringing those memories back, I miss him.
I remember doing something similar with a friend of mine on xbox. We made the dcu and then immediately had the idea of digging out a world. Good times
Well, this is certainly one way to apply your major.
When you can’t find the final bit of corruption for the dryad
cursed/ichor/coral torches could be used for the ocean portions as they don't care about the water but eh
absolutely amazing video, super impressive how much work you put into little projects like these. always looking forward to your next upload, keep it up!

The Face Shrine music at the final calculations is one of the few times I've ever busted out laughing at a UA-cam video, good stuff
4:57 the pitch down in the music when the minutes get calculated is hilarious
I’d love to see more skyblock or a modded play through
Nice try sparky, but you can't hide from collecting every item in Terraria forever.
I actually thought he will mine out the whole world with a copper pickaxe in this video...
0:20 I hadn’t until I saw the video title
20:10 cheese jumpscare
wtf I clicked that and got an ad for Boursin
rabbids reference
I love ilikecheese
Note that you break a whole tree just by removing the bottom most tile of the trunk
Video idea:
Terraria but there's no item/weapon cooldown wich makes almost everything like a machine gun
Also "coweb" at 10:48
My dumbass always ready the notification as "Wand of Spanking" and im pleasantly surprised its terraria instead
I am so glad that youtube notified me of this masterpeice 1 minute after it was uploaded

15:45 It includes the truck!
with every video i am constantly impressed by not only your patience but also your intelligence. this is absolutely absurd
My ADHD meds kicked in just in time to properly watch this whole video in one sitting.
go, my adderall
Now THIS is something I need answers for
This gives an idea. If you're speedrunning to mine the whole world, how far do you progress for optimal mining speed? Also lihzard bricks...
only channel that can make me watch 30 minutes of a spread sheet and not be bored
This is me, spending more time trying to convince my boss that the task will take too long, instead of doing the task.

A long, long time ago I mined the entire Corruption out of a world with a molten pickaxe and that was brutal. Can't imagine doing the entire thing...
I cannot believe you actually committed to this bit. Super cool to know, but wow this seems like an exhausting one
BRUH.
Can't wait for the next video, "How long does it take to break all walls in an entire World... with a Copper Hammer?"
This is the first WoS video I've seen with consistent typos. Somehow it only adds to the insanity of the video
13:25 mining exactly synced with the bpm of the music
Finally, Terraria Office Edition
Next up: Mining an entire Minecraft world with just wooden pickaxes.

If you are going to manually mine out an entire world please just use the best pickaxe in the game I beg of you. The meme is not worth it!
You read my mind dude, I was thinking about this yesterday
Kinda seems like a fun project ngl
I thought I was losing my mind that I kept getting notifications for this video going up. Oh well, I'll watch it again ❤

I never played Skyword Sword but that Skyloft music is a banger...
6:42 what about coral torches? can't you use those, or is that a restriction you put on this challenge?
okay so technically the way mining speed works means not having ambrosia probably isn’t a 5% mining speed decrease! it probably doesn’t even change it
Long enough to make you question your sanity
you should consider doing a tedit guide series , i've messed around with tedit , but some things are still hard to figure out and the official discord it very slow to respond , i would like to figure out how to use it like you do in your videos
I kinda want to do this now.
Stream it to whatever bots decide to join
next idea: beat terraria upside down
You are insane my friend, the only acceptable way of emptying the world is through the celebration mk.2 XD
1,360 hours? idk
Love you wand of sparking
i thought you where gona actually dig up every block manually, and was surprised the video was so short
haha, now add a wooden hammer and do this including walls
Hell I'm currently clearing out a large world with the riding mining mount and THAT is taking forever. I can only imagine how long this would take (commenting pre-watching video).
New speedrun category incoming?
A better question is how long would it take to any% mining away the whole world (no tools barred)
2:30 how long did it take to sync up the mining sound to the music
UHHH THE DKC MUSIC HITS DIFFRENT
my intrusive thoughts say I should try to make a TAS on this category. but sadly, I am employed.
You've made me want to play Mario Galaxy again
now this is real science
You should do another video adding up just how quickly you can mine every block.
Depending on whether this is a new world AND character or its just testing the copper pickaxe itself, the absorbant sponges might help?
This would've been even crazier with a sluggish prefix or large or heavy
now do 9 worlds more so we can get an average
you know its bad when he start going out of ideas someone give him teraria 2 please
For the crimtsone you could have used purification powder to turn into stone and mine that with a copper pickaxe
I remember someone doing this a while ago and it was like just under 2 years straight of mining I think
Answer: "Very long"
Heavens- if you do do t for some reason PLEASE use mining buffs
im not sure i wanna know how many chests would be needed to store the entire world
This is Hollow Knight and Deltarune community levels of insanity right here
Guide: "Terrarian, I remember you're wall of fleshs"
