Anyone out there thinking of buying one of these, let me assure you. You can't go wrong. Fabulous build quality, very versatile and it fantastic to play as well. The ebony fretboard is fantastic. Tuning stability good. Neck feel is great. What more could you ask, and the synth facility tops off the spec to make it absolutely fabulous.
I bought an LGX-SA back in 2000 that I still have. I bought a Roland guitar synth but the Godin didn't track very well until I had the Buzz Feiten tuning system added. Now it tracks perfectly on the synth and no matter where I play on the neck its in perfect tune. You talk about jazz tones, put that pickup selector right in the middle... lower gain, perfect jazz tone. I've run that guitar through a variety of electric amps and direct or through my SWR California Blonde... perfect!
Thanks man. Very informative. Been looking at these as I co-lead using a Washburn electric thru a Roland stereo cube with acoustic simulator. It works and people like the sound but what you got there I think is the answer. Great demo and you're very talented by the way. Take care.
I was QC at the Godin factory right around the time this video was made. I probably QC'd that guitar if you bought it new. The way you were using it is exactly how it was intended. Two source mix. Piezio to PA and Electric to amp. Midi to pedal and to PA.
@@jasonpcarroll Did you ever end up messing with the synth access 13 pin? I finally built a clone of one of these for myself, as I never bought one before the USA factory closed.
@@jasonpcarroll I tried it during a worship practice years ago and it was a mess. Fun gimmick, but unless you have pro sound guys and techs behind you, it's really courting disaster.
Very good video brutha.... thanks for breaking down the DR Zebra strings as well. I just bought a 1995 Godin LGX with it's hard case for $600 and DR Zebras will be going on it thanks to this.
Amazon had this guitar for just $970 a little while ago. Got in on this steal! The guitar usually goes for $1700! With that being said......... THIS IS THE GREATEST GUITAR I HAVE EVER PLAYED! DOES EVERYTHING! Haven't tried the acoustics with mines but I'm interested to see how it does with the stock strings. EVERYONE! GET THIS GUITAR! The cleans are increidible. Does Metal to perfection. Great feel to the neck. Not super-thin but I can't tell a difference in my play. Godin is GOD!
Great demo! I am using a Godin Freeway SA and a VG99, but was never quite content with the quality of the acoustic sound, even through the VG99. I will try these DR Zebra strings, maybe this will give the sound the final "touch" to make it real acoustic.
Thanks, I got it from a local shop for $1300. I can't remember what all of the knobs and switches do. Obviously there is a volume and tone knob, but the third knob and the two switches are for use with the synth feature of the guitar. It has a 13-pin synth out that you can use with some of the Roland gear. It's pretty sweet, but I've never used it.
I use to have the Godin Solidac which had the twin outputs for electric and acoustic sounds. I used to blend the sounds and have flanger on the electric output and reverb in the acoustic which made a BIG sound. Unfortunately I was dumb one day and sold it :-(
Hi! Didn´t know ´bout the zebra strings...they sound pretty cool, gonna get some next week! Btw. this guitar is a great choice. I got one in translucent blue and its perfect. You guys should also know about its almost perfect MIDI tracking, I didn´t see anything better. The switches/ knobs: first one towards you mixes pickups: synth magnetic and piezo, second switch is a program changer for a MIDI synth. Knob close to switches: synth vol. Nice video, sftl99, well done! Greetz, Blake
Hi, thank you for these helpful informations. I also use a Godin LGX for worship, with a Fishman Loudbox amp for the acoustic and Roland Cube for the electric with a Pod XT Live. I have a specific question for you. I know that you are using DR Zebra strings and Line 6 Spider Valve II amp. But what is your exact setup ? What are the amps, pedals, etc. that you use ? I know that the setup can change depending on the situation, but we all have a main setup. God bless you.
@TheGuitargary ok i found the switch is for switching programs for synth....maybe other switch is compressor or at least thats what i was told...not sure....can the volume for the acoustic be control with same volume knob for electric...
Zairemmawia Pachuau there’s a Crate amp in the background, but I think I went direct through a Countryman DI. That said, the best of the best I’ve found now that we’re years later is the Tom Anderson Crowdster Plus 2. For pedals, add in the TC BodyRez and the FireEye DI. LR Baggs now has their Session Compressor/Saturation which is also fantastic.
i have the same guitar but one of the toggle switches in back does not stay lock in position when i flip it....does your switch do that...and what are the two toggle switches for.....any help...thanks
So, basically, Ernie Balls aren't good for acoustic sounds? I'm just wondering cause I'm looking to upgrade from my Epiphone Special II to a new guitar and wanted something with an overall good sound and wondered about your acoustic sounds.
Brother, God bless. Thats an amazing guitar, it sounds so good for being both electric and coustic. Question? Does the guitar come like that, both acoustic nd electric? Or did you get it costumized? And also how much $$ does it range from.
Allen Morales it comes like that standard dude. They’re amazing. I have 3 of them. There expensive new (maybe close to $2,000) but very reasonable on the 2nd market
@naveed211 There is a separate 1/4" output for electric and acoustic so you can run them totally dependent of one another. I just run into volume pedals and control the fading that way.
@DeluxeGoldTop Trying to help others who may be lost in this difficult world find their way to salvation through Worship music is not stupid, just a true gift. Oh, and I use DR Zebra's as well. The most amazing warm tones through my Godin Solidac, and great to rip through the magnetic pickups too. Peace everyone.
Hi ! I'm a big Godin's fan, got a Godin Multiac duet nylon strings, and a Seagull steel strings, so I'm certainly not writting here to criticise, but there's one thing I would have liked to see : instead of using an A/B box, one for acoustic sounds, and the other for electric sounds, I would have liked to see how he would have done without that A/B box. Like I would have done, don't got an A/B box. Will search in another video. BYE !
my Godin was great for a couple of months. I haven't had it a year yet and I am getting alots of static from the slide switches what should I do about it. Changed the 9 volt battery and still having the same probles.
Amazing guitar. They also make the best acoustics on the market for your dollar. Godin makes Simon & Patrick acoustics which can easily go up against and often beat $5,000 Gibsons & Martins. Thanks for the video. Godin is now actually a Canadian & USA company.
I don't know that Ernie Ball electric strings wouldn't sound good on something like this, I just know that the DR's I've been using have more acoustic-like warmth than anything else I've tried.
@DeluxeGoldTop Thanks for the sympathy. That's definitely what happened, and now it's too late to reverse the effects of the mind warping. I think I'll be ok, though.
this guitar is great... i have one and i will keep it. quality is top. it has everything duncans, acuostics, split hums, synth. made of mahogany. best guitar i've had, i had strats mex us, teles - i love them, had other stuff. but this one is so submarine - get it in blue)
@starlynrose1 Fair enough, but I did title the video appropriately, at least ;). I'm hoping to sometime soon throw up a review of my Breedlove that I'm installing the LR Baggs Anthem system on - I'll make that one about just the guitar. I also just upgraded my pickups and pots and everything else on my Epi LP, so I'll try and get that up too.
I play 2 synths, 1 takamine, and 1 fender on stage.. Could be nice to bring only 1 guitar.. unfortunately acoustic sound of this godin isn't good enough. Too bad.. 🙁 Thks for the demo.
Bronze of phosphorbronze strings would work on electric guitar man.. If what you were saying was true, then acoustic with magnetic pickup like LR Baggs M1, would have to have electric guitar strings. Sorry for my english.
LOL! Can't afford one of those Roland things, be serious! Do you realize people can see all the thousands of dollars of gear you have around you. That is also the most expensive out of the Godin synth access guitars...... You're not hurting for cash. You keep making like you don't have the cash, oh please .... Then you mention you had that Parker guitar which was MORE expensive than the $1,700 dollar one you're holding??? Boasting, then making like you can't afford... just work hard and save up the money like most people do. Appreciate what you have.
+Corey Gilchrist hmm...didn't mean to offend. This was years ago, so I'm not sure what I meant, but I assume I meant something more like, "I don't have disposable cash to spend on something completely unneeded." Financially, I am blessed and grateful. I hope that's not too offensive.
Hi Jason! with no offence you should modarete your words when you spoke about the strings. for a Godly man that don't look good and on the top of everything you are a worshiper. God Bless you
@fastersamurai You know, and I only say this because I've been taking French my whole life, I'm pretty sure it's actually pronounced "Go-deyn" or Go-dayn, but you hardly pronounce the n. Ask any french Canadian or I guess and French person at all to pronounce it for you.
You're crowing about having ripped someone for $600.00, and you consider yourself a Christian? Have I got that right? I don't think JC would be down with that, dude. Nice guitaring and singing.
West Winds you heard wrong. The Parker Fly is just a way more expensive guitar. So I paid less for the Godin because of market value and yet I was happier with it. But now I don’t have this or the Taylor in the background :)
That guitar's acoustic sound is just gorgeous and clean!
Guitar Center doesnt suck. While i was looking for strings myself, i noticed these strings online. So they do carry it. Rock on dude.

Awesome video thanks for posting and mentioning the guitar strings. God Bless :)
I'm not sure what you mean. The acoustic output controls (Low, Mid, High, Volume) are the four faders at the top.
thank you man, very useful information. I'm looking for a guitar that does both acoustic and electric and I think this is it!

how much did you get it for??

Wow, great for worship. Do Godin LGX-SA Acoustic/Electric got the 2 convertible pick ups features? Single coil and Humbucker switches.
I’ve seen a lot of reviews on piezoelectric guitars but this seem to give the best acoustic sound, I wonder what amp or processor is used
