I am a marshal for the TT and I can tell you, the island does have speed limits. All towns are 30 zones but when you get onto the country roads and get the national speed limit sign you can go as fast as you want. The Manx people are very respectful of the speed limits and accidents are no higher than the UK apart from TT week!

i actually come from germany. and the narrator is the only english-speaking person, who spoke "nürburgring" correctly out ^-^ cant wait to see this car in reality
i never said better RACECAR, i said better CAR as in more fun to drive, better power to weight ratio, better steering and brakes, and simply more fun to drive

To all the Americans here: Everywhere in the world except for the US and maybe Australia, it's more important for a car to be good around corners. Corners are where the fun comes from, not just pure straight-line speed.....
Check out this video, it has all the answers to your questions regarding the BRZ. This is an actual owner, not a paid Auto magazine. "Why I Don't Love My Subaru BRZ...Yet."
for all the people complaining about the BRZ not being fast enough.... Subaru has said that the BRZ is for people who are willing to tune it, and do other mods to it. case closed
Most driving enthusiasts don't care as much if a car is brand new. If the idea is track use, the appeal of a much more affordable used car will win out over a more reliable new car. With the S2k being around the 11k-20k price point depending on year, many enthusiasts will pick it up and modify to get a better performing car for equal or less than cost of a new BRZ. Other cars like the 350Z, SR20 S13-S14.5s, WRX/STIs, EVO VIII and IX to name a few are at attractive prices w/larger aftermarkets.
No they worked together to make this car. Many cars are based off the same chassis. but branded with a diff body. It makes it cheaper for us while creating a better profit for the manufacturers.
driving faster isnt always important, what matters most is that the car is quick, but especially fun to drive and enjoyable, you could have all the power in the world and still not totally enjoy the car you are behind the wheel of
1:18 what's the music that starts playing? I've heard this tune in a hardstyle track, I wonder what the original is called.... And THANKS SO MUCH for uploading! Didn't know that the Isle of Man didn't have speed limits!
You think that's small? You should visit the Azores, 9 islands of the Portuguese coast...more like in the middle of the Atlantic. That's where I'm from!
i really do love the Subaru BRZ, but id really love for them to make a newer model of the Subaru BRZ with more power. like making a twin turbo version with upgraded brakes and handling/suspension to balance out the cars extra power. by still keeping it like the orignal Subaru BRZ's handling but with extra power from the twin turbo. i think that would be super kool and make the BRZ even more kool and fun and really help Subaru out making the BRZ more noticeable. :)
I think the hardstyle track I heard was called "Bringing the Funk" by Digital Punk & Profyler. But is there really nobody that knows what the original is called for the music that plays at 1:18 ?????
straight line performance it would but handling/braking it would get its arse handed to it. anyone can make a car go fast in a straight line but how bout the bendys??
I'm not even going to argue with someone that can't tell the difference between your and you're. You still haven't provided any reason why the BRZ is better
Is there any difference between this and the Toyota version? I mean if they are identical then do they cost exactly the same too and is the engine versions same (only 1 engine available or more?).
They don't tho. This the first real wheel drive car from them..They all use the same engine chassis. It depends on the manufacturers who does what with each model.
They own part of Subaru and all of scion. And I know they came together to make these cars. toyota started the design and helped subaru make a car and scion make a car along with toyota's gt86.
There are lots of other cars with similiar performance to the BRZ/FR-S/GT-86. The first that comes to mind is the Honda S2000. It has great suspension, awesome stability, with a potent powerplant. It's 2.0L puts out 200 at the crank, like the BRZ.

Looks like a car you'd buy at Autozone if Autozone sold cars.
this car looks absolutely amazing in person!
motor trend and the great sonic ad marathon of 2012
Keep up the great work Motor Trend you all are starting to produce some of the best Auto videos on UA-cam.
i actually come from germany. and the narrator is the only english-speaking person, who spoke "nürburgring" correctly out ^-^ cant wait to see this car in reality
Why do I all of a sudden feel very humble to live on the Isle of Man?
Great video. I am glad it is different from
the dog and pony car review videos floating on you tube. This format is so refreshing.
i never said better RACECAR, i said better CAR as in more fun to drive, better power to weight ratio, better steering and brakes, and simply more fun to drive
What a great way to kick off my morning!
Lol, I live on the isle of man
Spent some time on the island, particularly Peel and Windy Corner. Lovely place. Lovely people.
I’m jealous!

Thank you so much! That's exactly what I was trying to find out!
Finally a better Video of the BRZ. Just saying. Great video
Cool episode. The only thing missing is more footage!!
Jason!!! You looked like you wanted to cry when Mark was driving! Bahahahaha
Loved this episode.
what a car, I want one sooo badly! Oh and awesome video!!
Mark is the greatest!!
Awww Jason Cammisa was so green back then
To all the Americans here: Everywhere in the world except for the US and maybe Australia, it's more important for a car to be good around corners. Corners are where the fun comes from, not just pure straight-line speed.....
I totally agree with you and your last statement nails it :)
MOAR FOOTAGE!!!
Because it was a joint collaboration between Subaru and Toyota!
Check out this video, it has all the answers to your questions regarding the BRZ. This is an actual owner, not a paid Auto magazine. "Why I Don't Love My Subaru BRZ...Yet."
God, that is just amazing.
Brilliant vid!!!!

nice vid guys, as usual

Great video.. thank you so much :)
All I heard was the BRZ was so docile you can't get yourself into any immediate danger...
The race was cancelled ? Hardly, I was there and they carried on...
I like how the ad of Chevrolet shown before the Brz
What are the specs of that rally version of the car? The road looks insanely dangerous and narrow, I'd be driving like grandma over there.
driving faster isnt always important, what matters most is that the car is quick, but especially fun to drive and enjoyable, you could have all the power in the world and still not totally enjoy the car you are behind the wheel of
I would love to see your TT do slides.
Thank you.... I approve your message

And THANKS SO MUCH for uploading! Didn't know that the Isle of Man didn't have speed limits!
where is the rest of the footage?
So much squandered potential.
I wish they let us play like that up at Jurby airfield! I would be a black flag for big drift like that if you didn't have a camera crew!!
You think that's small? You should visit the Azores, 9 islands of the Portuguese coast...more like in the middle of the Atlantic. That's where I'm from!
a very good example for 1960, it's 2012 right?
Long live the Isle of Mann

Go to the official Subaru site! WRX starts at $25,595 BRZ starts at $25,495. i don't $100 in this case is considered a lot!
Can we have a solid 5:00+ minute video on their rally Subaru BRZ shown? All assets of specs, mods, numbers, etc? :D
...... you guys... went all the way to the Isle of Man and got BRZ and the driver.... why only 5 min video...??????? you should make it longer....
Love the BRZ :)
He said they came to watch a race. If the race hadnt been cancelled would have had a longer video probably.
there must be more footage
I 'd like to see BRZ in WRC!!!
With Solberg driving it..
I think the hardstyle track I heard was called "Bringing the Funk" by Digital Punk & Profyler. But is there really nobody that knows what the original is called for the music that plays at 1:18 ?????
Double thumbs up for that comment!
It won't beat those cars man. I love the 86 but it was purely built for cheap fun. It has lower cornering speeds than an early intergra
Holy sh!t that rally dude can drive.
Now go back and get about 20 mins more of footage please.
straight line performance it would but handling/braking it would get its arse handed to it. anyone can make a car go fast in a straight line but how bout the bendys??
Awesome, more motoring videos that spend (far) more time talking about geographical locations then what they are meant to! (which would be cars)
I'm not even going to argue with someone that can't tell the difference between your and you're. You still haven't provided any reason why the BRZ is better
Cool video
if im not mistaken subaru is planning to make a sti version but if im not mistaken it wont be turboed
have you driven both of the car yet?
Man I can not WAIT to get a FRS or BRZ.. holy shit.. just saving up a bit more cash.
A lot of content not shown in this one.
Everybody says this car needs more power, THAT IS WRONG. IT NEEDS MORE TORQUE! It has enough power.
You replied to my comment, not the other way around.
I'm not american, but your point is so true. However, don't think that the US is the only place where that happens...
ooo, thanks.
the guy looked like he was gonna shit his pants when the pro was driving.
I really want someone to do an LS swap into this car!!! it would be a drift monster haha
So it took you 3 minutes to even mention the car you're driving, and the entire video is 4:50 in length?
Epic car!!!
...PLEASE be stranded on a small island somewhere.
Beautiful Car
my sister used to drive an Audi TT, can't believe he said that lol
aaahhhhhhhh this guy gets it!
is subaru officially making an sti brz?
you go find me a $25k ZL1 and GT500 or Boss 302
if you drop 40k on that BRZ, you can have all the power you want and still handle great.
you look like mac from its always sunny in Philadelphia
i see subaru is getting away from the rally scene
I hate how Motor Trend virtually ignores the FR-S because it has no GPS and no Leather seats....
Is there any difference between this and the Toyota version? I mean if they are identical then do they cost exactly the same too and is the engine versions same (only 1 engine available or more?).
So if you're in my country, why is the Subaru left hand drive?
No disrespect to Mark Higgins. But hes a 3 times British Rally Champion. Not a World Rally Champion.
I thought that Isle of Man TT stood for Time Trial, not tourist trophy....
sorry i thought i was watching a video of a BRZ driving around the isle of man... my mistake
What a witty reply. *Pats the kid on the head and walks away*
yea, how much are those?
Too right man, too right.
What's the specs for the Rally prepped BRZ???
yeah i just realized i was thinking of the sti
Usually faster is more fun but i guess in 2012 slower more expensive is better, drive what u like have fun countin taillights

Too short, but still pretty sweet
