      Question: I think you had your bug with the clear tail lights at one point, I think that I saw them in one of your old videos: where did you get those clear lenses from? I been looking here in California and online but no luck. Thank you, for all your videos; I like that they are just the facts and all the natural background; the part where the cat comes in is the most important, fundamental even.

    Nicely done Mate; 14.5 V @ the B+ of the Alternator, also check the Voltage @ the battery terminals so you know that the charging voltage is sufficient!

    Your regulator looks like this Computer ECM and is place in newer super beetle 1976 located at where at the relay box atop the old generator but you have change it from alternate conversion pro hardware kit that you can throw it out the generator.

    Does the starter wire connect to the battery, power cable that goes to the front and the one from the alternator?

    Vw used alternators on the bug since 1973 they were either Bosch or the Motorola brand alternators as 1973-1974 were external regulators. 1975-1979 were internal with the motorola mounted on top of the alternator. as the discontinued Bosch Al82N is internal its located at the fan side bearing cover. as aftermarket companies are making the Al82N if you use this alternator your warning light has to work if you are using an LED warning light you have to use a load equalizer resistor for it to charge.

    • @BoostedVW
      @BoostedVW  4 роки тому

      Not entirely true.
      Alternators didn’t start until 74 for Europe and Australia and were only Bosch.
      US market got Motorola alts in mid 73, early 73 were still generators.

    How are your fresh air hoses attached? Is it just a slip fit on the shroud outlets and heater boxes? Never seen a fresh air setup like that and now I want to copy you.

    • @BoostedVW
      @BoostedVW  8 років тому

      +caliarmyguy hi, they are just standard hoses, those are just stainless steel sleeves over the top designed for radiator hoses

    • @themaniam3650
      @themaniam3650 4 роки тому

      So you are using the stock heater hoses with sleeves over them?

    so if you dont have a dummy light as mine was re wired with out one is that the same to run

    • @BoostedVW
      @BoostedVW  3 роки тому

      An alternator won’t charge without a dummy light.
      If you want to run without one you’ll need to wire in a resistor but then you won’t know if there’s a problem- snapped belt, not charging etc.

    • @BoostedVW
      @BoostedVW  3 роки тому

      Yes generators don’t need a light but a light is very simple to add just one side to ignition positive and other side to regulator or alternator.

    are non bosch alternators that bad?

    • @BoostedVW
      @BoostedVW  8 років тому

      THere are some pretty poor quality ones out of China on the market, the biggest issue with them is the bearings failing.
      If you can replace the bearings before they have a big failure they can be ok.

      the whole body of generators are the same diameter as the pulley where as alternators are larger in diameter in the center section

    The big black wire connect in between battery one post and alternator 2012, second yellow wire connect to internal regulator diode. Third is bring up the green wire to the transistor inside the alternator regulator. And where is the rest of the red wire for ignition connect positive coil 12 volts temporally primary circuit and negative connection ignition orange wire. The long white wires for head light and tail light Volkswagen no AC cooler super beetle. Maybe a automatic transmission to the rear engine instead 4 speed transmission from Westphalia super stock modified Wolfsburg at Porsche Spicer Detroit Duesenberg modern Custom Craft.

    chrome don't get you home, I would chuck that dress up crapola tin and put stock pulley and oil bath airfilter on there. VW quality can't be bear.
