Nice, thanks for the review! There is another take on the story where Father Flynn contracted syphillis from the "sister" and she is now showing subtle signs of the disease. The broken chalice symbolizing a broken soul; an empty chalice symbolizing an empty soul. The entire Dublners viewed as a mobius strip as the first story/last story can be represented with each others titled name (Sisters, Dead).
