Ill tell you something I find funny as shit. You probably will to based on your comment. I watched a little mini doc about her not to long ago, probably cold fusion or something like that. They asked a lab worker in the docs interview of them that exact question and why they didn't say anything if they knew it was impossible, his answer was something like " we all knew it was bullshit, but apparently nobody in Silicon valley thought it was a good idea to ask us"... So, your critique is absolutely spot on. The way they said it was actually pretty damn funny.

If you knew that, then it would make continuously raising our prices in an attempt to suck more money out of you in the name of "creating more content" seem a little ridiculous. Which is why we do everything we can to psychologically manipulate you into thinking that despite being a streaming service with hundreds of shows and movies, there's always nothing to watch. From only showing the current most recent releases at any given time, to making our sites impossible to navigate, to making people think that they have to watch these shows at the speed of a squirrel on cocaine. In the table game board community, yes sure there are some projects that won't be completed or took forever but mostly it has allowed the whole hobby to free itself from the big publishers like Hasbro and have come up with amazing games! Gone are the days where you had to choose between yet another re-themed Monopoly, Clue, Hungry Hippos or Uno game. So at least in this hobby, it has been totally worth it! The fans decide what gets published, not executives who have no clue what we want.

Yeah, this one bothers me. Like somebody at *Cracked* got burned, so they're painting with very broad strokes on this process.
My daughter co-founded a gaming company, and it has become hugely successful as a result of crowdfunding. They put out many games over the years, and now they've got the licensing to make a tabletop role-playing game for *Avatar The Last Airbender.*
This video gives the impression that investors are legit, and crowdfunding is not. But crowdfunding provides the license holder, like CBS in the case above, to have a project move forward without putting any of their money into it. It's a smart move on their part, and provides an opportunity for those like my daughter's company. And it's a fantastic way to know if you have enough customers interested in your project before you even get started. And if you don't meet your goal, then you don't waste money producing something that may not sell.

@@ralphwarom2514 It's for a book called Diskordia. Worse still, the guy did a Ponzi scheme by launching a Book 2 KS to help fulfill the first - which, again, still hasn't happened. So, I had sympathy - he lives in Belize (iirc) and didn't realize how expensive it would be to ship the books - fine. But then he let slip in recent years (😂) that he wasn't working because he couldn't find a job utilizing his art skills!!
Like, you have a duty to get this fulfilled any way possible. You can't just sit around the house and throw your hands up because no one will hire you to cartoon. At that point I lost any hope of seeing this book and just took it as a learning experience.
But he's not the only one - how many industry pros use KS as an income generator in between Big 2 gigs - then never fulfill because they're "too busy" with a deadline for Marvel or DC? I'm pretty much done with comic KS unless someone has a track record of producing results.
