I was so excited to see you back doing your perspectives on The Chosen. You two are a delight and I learn so much. I had not thought about the Lamb being represented as a warrior. Thank you both. Look forward to many more uploads with Dr Tom and Sam.
Dr.Tom and Sam, as soon as Peter fell at Jesus's feet, our overseas nation had its first Presidential missile exercise alert! Peter's confession and Jesus's comforting words and invitation continued through the alarm ! Indeed, when we testify to the power of the gospel, God receives all His glory to be known and praised !!
I love to learn about 1st century Jewish culture. Through language translation and our Western culture I have come to realize more and more how often we misunderstand what was intended to be conveyed in scripture. It is a privilege to have you to explain things as you do. Between you living there in the past and your educational pursuits (congrats Dr. Tom) we are fortunate to have the benefit of truth and understanding in your teaching. More in depth discussion would be wonderful. You two have a gift and platform here to lead us and it is a great blessing to all of us. The more I learn the more I get from scripture each time I read it. Your hearts and knowledge are captivating and inspiring. Can’t wait to see what comes next 👏🐑👏.
Thank you both. I will need to watch the reply again to solidify my knowledge of our Israelites & it's then customs. I have always loved the Israelites & include them in my personalised daily. For GOD's Glory and my good. 💜😘🧡🙏🧡😍🧡🙌💜
Oh, man, I so enjoyed that. I love how you guys make me laugh. So healthy. And can you imagine saying words similar to Peter’s when Jesus returns: “We have waited for you so long!” As it finally happens!
I watched both seasons before doing some deep diving. Quintus is the guy you love to hate. Until you watch an interview with Brandon Potter, lol. He is a very humble and grateful man. His take on Quintus had me look at the character a little differently.
Loved it. At 3:00 you are talking about the foreshadowing of Peter cutting off the ear of the servant of the high priest. I really hope they get that scene right. Every time I have seen it acted on TV they have mucked it up. Think about it for a minute; how do you cleanly cut off someone’s ear with a sword without chopping their shoulder as well? It’s obvious to me; Peter was trying to cut off the servant’s head! And he ducked to the side!
It is believed that John was an Essene and joined them in his early life (Elizabeth and Zechariah were extremely old for the time period), but was kicked out for being too radical. The Upper Room was owned by an Essene community as well.
@ Dallas makes it clear that this is is a show, not an exact reenactment of the Bible. No one knows the conversations had between the lines. This is a fictional dramatization based on the Scriptures, from the disciples' perspective. Why would you think there was no crassness coming from real human beings in the first century? You know very well from the Scriptures that prophets weren't appreciated by all. I don't get what bothers you about this. There are plenty of examples of imperfect behavior by disciples of Jesus in the Bible (Peter denying he knew Jesus comes to mind...).
@ I understood your comment just fine. People didn’t believe Jesus was who He said HE was, why would you assume everyone would react positively to JtB. In your scenario they won’t treat Jesus badly.
Hey guys! would love to hear you two unpack more of the Lamb from the Bible, and other Jewish writings if they apply. Just love your channel, thanks so much!
That gefielte fish joke slayed me! I laughed so hard, the family wanted to know what was so funny, and couldn't stop laughing to tell them. So they all just laughed, even though they didn't hear the joke!!
As always THIS IS SO GOOD!!!….. I had been waiting for this episode’s reaction from you guys… 😄😄🙌🏽🙌🏽 Could you do a reaction to just the whole scene of Simon going to the water and catching nothing till the final miracle? Curious what your thoughts are on the monologue on the boat the night before….
glad you're back to TC S1 reactions... i always enjoy your perspective... fun and educational.. can i ask for your comment on Simon's monologue while on the boat the night he was catching no fish? it was one of the intense scenes in this episode 😊
I have to say, every time I hear the music, from an Irish jig, pick as Peter and Andrew are drawing in their nets and Zebedee and his sons come running, I feel like clapping and rejoicing with them! It's a beautiful scene! 😊♥🎶✝🕊
Focus on what Abba Father is doing now, not 2000 years ago, you will be seeing Yeshua soon, be ready or be looking backwards. We live in a time that Simon Peter would not understand or understand how to bring God to the people now, but we understand this time, its a huge honour to be here in this time, we are in the final stage of God's plan, Simon Peter wishes he was us.
I agree about the Roman soldiers. I personally think they would be more intense and completely frightening. But this is a family show so there is that.
I've recently read that as a Pharisee, Paul wld have been married and either she left him or died. Cld u speak to this? And also the scripture where Paul says the brothers of the Lord and all the disciples were married. What are ur thoughts on this?
In reference to why only Simon is married, the apostle Paul would later write, "Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?" (I Cor. 9:5) They were all married, maybe not all at this time, but in practicality, they probably were married.
The romans uniform wouldn't exist in the form portrayed for about another 200 years. Especially the helmet. But its the most recognizable form of the roman legions so I think that's why they went with it. Also as far as who was stationed where. Roman legionnaires were not allowed to serve in the province they were recruited from. They usually were moved to a nearby province. This was to reduce the chance of soldiers disobeying orders if they had to be used against their own people.
Just a thought for future videos…. Could you review what signs and prophecies that have been fulfilled and those that are yet to be fulfilled before the return of JESUS can take place….Thank you and GOD Bless in JESUS❤️🙏😊
There is a possibility that the reason only Peter was married was because they were all very young. Peter was the only one recorded as challenged about paying tax, and Jesus only sent him to the fish to get money enough for the two of them. They didn't pay taxes until they were 20, so there's a theory that only Peter was over 20. There may be other reasons for the other disciples not needing their taxes provided for in that day, but it's an interesting point.
So this is a miracle right? How come the water turning to wine is called his first public miracle? This fish one was before the wedding and was somewhat public... just wondering if this is like a lesser amount of people who saw? I'm sure the word would have gone around though...
Absolutely love you guys and your unique feedback on The Chosen. PLEEAASSE stop editing your videos. The joy you bring together is getting edited out and now we can't fully enter into that joy!
I believe all of the Apostles were married since to even teach children in Jewish culture you had to be married. Being a single man or woman in Israel was quite rare. Marriage is important.
Could the “gentleness” of the Roman soldier be a choice to avoid scaring young watchers? The Chosen has been trying to make the show watchable for families - parents and their small children. Too much graphic violence may require parents to watch without their kids.
I think since the writers try to stay as close to scripture as possible, even while taking dramatic license at times ,give Peter a wife because scripture mentions Peters mother in-law therefore he must have had a wife .
It's all hearsay. Person A is recounting what Person B wrote down about what Person C said about Person D. Hearsay is never a viable path to the facts. Pray to your god and tell him it's time to come out of hiding so you no longer have to appeal to hearsay in order to threaten non-believers with hellfire.

Good to have you back. You were missed. 😊

In reference to Simon calling JtB, “Creepy John” another time, he calls him Andrew’s “bug eating friend” in episode 1. 😂
It is believed that John was an Essene and joined them in his early life (Elizabeth and Zechariah were extremely old for the time period), but was kicked out for being too radical. The Upper Room was owned by an Essene community as well.
@ Jesus didn’t call him Creepy John
@ They were portraying the disciples' realness. In the script, Simon didn't believe John was a real prophet when he first called him that.

Why would Simon Peter not understand, after learning from Jesus, how to bring the people to God? Thousands were won to Christ.
I’m embarrassed I missed the ear cutting. I consider myself a Bible nerd. I’ll do better next time
In The Chosen, Peter kept mocking John the Baptist by referring him as creepy John.
Can you talk a little about the Pikuach nefesh that Simon talks about with Eden and also with Andrew in episode 1?
That soldier was soft spoken yes BUT I thought his tone and mood were very threatening and ominous. Lol
Missed you guys
I agree about the Roman soldiers. I personally think they would be more intense and completely frightening. But this is a family show so there is that.
Please reference John Chapter 21 during the discussion of this episode and how these 2 scenes are alike.

Simon was likely the oldest one in a group of younger disciples, so it makes sense he was the only married one at the time of following Jesus

Phillip also must have had a wife because in the book of Acts it talks about his daughters who would prophesy. I am pretty sure it is the same Phillip
It may be that more than one disciple was married, it's just that their marital status wasn't really discussed in the bible.
The dad out runs his two sons. 1 st place ribbon
I believe all of the Apostles were married since to even teach children in Jewish culture you had to be married. Being a single man or woman in Israel was quite rare. Marriage is important.
Think Simon's attitude changes from I am not worthy to I think I want you to do something for me.
