I’ve been changing my kitchen units but I’m now looking at how to change the sink unit. I’ve been stuck at that point but this video has gave me the idea of how to take the sink out at least 😊

Great video! I'm going to be doing mine soon - Really grotty and old. Only problem is, I measure my current sink to be 970mm x 470mm. Sink I want to buy measures 980mm x 500mm. I can't seem to find a sink that matches my measurements. Do you think I should just buy the sink and see how it goes trying to get it in?
Love the silicone bit.they sell a tool like an ajustable jointer in tops tiles that gets it right.i.prefer my fingers and washing up liquid in a spray bottle
Never seen the blue paper solution.but a job I hate I cut the nozzle at an angle seems to work better but something I can never get right.

Thanks for the video! It helped me dismantle the pipes to clean them from a massive amount of black-mold sludge. The flat-head screwdriver seems to be 2cm wide, not a common item to have.

I love your videos and they've helped me a lot in my kitchen refit. But the first thing I would have done here is remove the cabinet door so it's not flapping around in your face all the time and you're less likely to damage it.
what about changing a double to a single? anything required? pipe change?
Does the corrugated overflow pipe need sealing at each end? What prevents it from leaking? I don't think it has any seals on it? The old overflow corrugated pipe looks stained 2:51 which suggests it may have leaked in the past?

Just watching this after replacing the monoblock tap . The new one is taller and wobbles. So was thinking 'lets have a look at how to fix a new sink'
And, I now realise what the wierd bit of plastic was that I removed.... Great.. Going to have to undo and refit.... Still, very informative :D
What make and model is the new sink please ? I am trying to find a normal stainless steel shiny sink, most seem to have gone 'brushed' which means dark and liney or 'polished' which can mean satin frosty. No photos of sinks on suppliers online, only 1 or 2 CAD images, often slightly blurry.

Hi mate love the videos, just about to start an apprenticeship at the age of 26 😊. just wondered if you do gas? And what tools do you recommend getting first. I have 15 and 22 MM. Pipe cutter set of rothenberger benders Mikita combi drill a couple of wrenches. Is there any thing else to begin with? I'm looking at the rothenberger superfire 2 torch at the movement. Do you have a video on how to measure for a new sink install? I want to replace my inset kitchen sink but the sizing is confusing me a little.
I’ve done a video on routing a worktop. Pop to the channel and use the search bar searching for ‘routing’
Nice vid. What's the black patches on the underside of the sink. If my new sink doesn't have them are they needed?
They dampen the sound when you are doing the dishes.

Hi, so you don’t have to turn the water mains off ,, I have them little screws ,I turn them a quarter and it stops the water ,is that ok?????
What's the best way of removing the clips when you can't actually get to them? In a new build house and the clips are right over the cupboard carcasses and impossible to reach

Thanks. Will remember this when I do mine. When I bought the house the idiot who installed it has it running downhill the wrong way. No spirit level was used installing the worktops at all, so the water from the draining board pools up and sits there. I'm hoping I can get a sink with a sharp fall the other way, or umma havta reinsall the whole shebang

+plumberparts Yeah, and it's all tiled around the worktop, and the window is off level to match it so I can't exactly change it without setting the whole house level around it. Do you know if they sell kitchen sinks with a steeper drain off than normal?

My problem is figuring out how to shut off the hot feed; which comes from immersion tank. I ran the hot tap to see which pipe runs hot off the immersion tank but there doesn't seem to be a valve to shut off. House is old.

Hi, I want to change my kitchen tap, the hot and cold supplies are both copper piped directly to each tap with no inline isolater valves.
I know that if I turn my stop cock off it isolates the cold water. Does it also isolate the hot water supply to the tap too? If not how do I isolate the hot water feed to the tap?
I have a boiler in the kitchen with an unvented tank in the airing cupboard.

2:51 How come you removed the nuts from the hot and cold copper pipes near the flexible pipes. How come you didn't just remove the flexible pipes from the pipe fittings?
Aman A. Because that’s how you remove the flexible pipe. The nuts you see at the bottom of the copper pipes, he just slides them up and screw together with the flexible pipe in place.

Uh oh! James, you forgot to mention that the replacement sink must be the same length side to side and width, front to back as the old one. Or, a wee bit longer and/or wider. I've been to jobs where the old sink is bigger dimensionally than the replacement supplied by the customer. Just drops straight through or has nasty gaps. Bigger (dimensionally) replacements may need additional worktop cut or routered out to accomodate fitting the replacement. Also, replacing a single bowl sink with a bowl + 1/2 or even a twin sink + double drainer in a 600mm base unit would require "butchering" the adjacent base units to accomodate fitting twin oversize bowls. Not easy when there is a wash mac to one side and a dish wash on the other......... Square pegs, round holes. Aaaaargh!!!!!!!
I was just about to mention that as well! I've had a couple where the new sink just about fits the hole cut out for the old sink leaving no allowance for those vicious clamps who will draw blood at the slightest touch of the finger tips! 😂. They are nasty little bastards!!
Also some sinks come with a foam gasket which you stick to around the inside edge before dropping onto the hole and sealing.
I had one a short while ago with a tap came with a pullout hose which had a weight clamped to it under the sink. What they don't tell you is the weight cannot be obstructed otherwise it gets caught on the pipework preventing the hose from retracting back into the tap housing. So you have to make sure the weight pulls behind the unit and is allowed to move up and down freely. What a pain the arse that was!! #getbry

Probably the speeded up bit was a big part of it..?? Also, what tools did you use to remove and re-fix the copper?? Did you keep or cut off the olives? This is too simplistic and is just is a guide for a home-owner watching, not someone attempting the job with detail...

I find it very hard to understand why a professional plumber would install that idiotic elbow in in the down pipe instead of the traditional bottle trap. I have the same at my new sink and in a few weeks it gets clogged up and i need to undo it all and get rid of the deposits that block the elbow.
