Learn how to cut a ceramic sink into a laminate worktop using a router with Trade Secrets.
Baffles me why anybody would give this the thumbs down these are probably the best tutorials on you tube
This guy (Dave?) is a legend! This is the third time his videos have helped me out with my new kitchen installation. These are the best DIY videos I have found on UA-cam. All the best to you Dave.
That was very good Tommy. You have helped me tremendously.
9 years ago I fitted a 3m laminate worktop, cut the sink hole upside down in the middle of the kitchen, about 20mm left on each side as I cut the worktop to 500mm. On my own, got under it and lifted with my 65 (then) year old shoulders, and it broke right across the thinnest part. That was the last time I cried !!!
Now about to redo the whole kitchen with your help.
Many thanks for your video.
These videos you do are brilliant. I've been fitting a kitchen and watched them many times for reassurance. Better than Tommy himself...you need a TV show. Top man
Absolutely brilliant videos. I'm fitting a kitchen myself and saved a fortune in the process, with help from Tommy's Trade Secrets.
+Wendy Jameson Thank you please like and subscribe for more videos
+Tommy's Yard Cut my first bit of laminate worktop today with a router and really impressed with it. Even managed to cut the hole out for the built in hob. I'll be using a router from now on. Thanks.
I love Dave's vids. I've watched this one three times and still find myself blowing sawdust away!!!
John Murphy o
Brilliant set of videos - i am having a kitchen delivered and have learnt from these films that the best thing to do is get a professional in to do the jobs!
Well done, I'm putting in a worktop in a caravan and this vid has covered the job. Thank you.
Dave, all ure videos are brilliant, keep em coming, if you have an apprentice, he is very lucky, and when you said the clamp needs cardboard and then the flick of the wrist was just hilarious, love it!!!!!
A true craftsman, he knows his trade well. He has taken some of the mystery from making joints in worktops. Fab!!
Doing this next week. Last time I cut a hole for a sink was 9 years ago. Absolutely BRILLIANT refresher course. Measure twice (or more, cut once). And I FORGOT about turning the worktop over so you dont rip the rolled edge to bits. A delight to watch!
Robert Horwat ,
Thank you for sharing. Its always a pleasure watching a pro at work.
I've just cut in a stainless steel sink into an Earthstone worktop using your guidance - great job thanks !!
Really enjoying Dave's explanations. Would like to see more from him!

This was my introduction to your Trade Secrets videos. It left me with the confidence that I needed to complete this type of chore. Thanks for your smooth accent too. I do not have a plunge router only the basic style. But there is no doubt that it will do the job.
I wish i had you as a mentor Dave when i was learning joinery..... explained perfectly with good tips along the way! Keep up the good work
i do like this guy i have watched most of his short films iam a carpenter myself and he has given me some very good tips..thanks dave
I love these videos. You've saved me hundreds of pounds with your straight forward approach to teaching. Thank you
+Darren Jones Glad we have helped more videos to come
Awesome :-) I look forward to further tuition. They should use your channel as learning resources in schools, for subjects of practical use ;-)
+Darren Jones Thank you for the support i think some schools do :)
Dave, I thought your video on fixing skirting in a bay window was very good, but this one is even better! I've fitted a few worktops in my time & as a Plumber I've worked with loads of Joiners do this job, but mate your skill & explanations on this video have been great.
I think I got at least half a dozen tip here.
Thanks very much & please do more videos.
Best tutorials I've watched... (and I watch loads)...no words wasted...very clear...great energy...and always bob on with the safety reminders. Many thanks !!
Great demo. Nice to see a craftsman at work with some excellent tips and also keeping safe at all times.
Great video. Watched as a refresher as it's been years since I've done one. Nice, simple, and straight forward with a few tricks of the trade learned in the process. thanks for doing this.
Great to see a proper joiner at work and his advice was spot on well done mate! :)
Great series of videos. Just started a diploma course at College and already picked up a lot of tips from the videos I've watched so far. Thanks Dave ;)
Great Video. watched twice ahead of fitting one of these and saved myself so many mistakes...cheers.
I dont know about all you guys but something about this guy brings you into the job like your right there, any apprentice ideal buddy. id come work with you for free a week and see if I dont mess the job up
Champion bro, thanks for sharing. I'm rebuilding my caravan and the bench tops are rotten. Actually most of the Caravan was rotten hahahaha, a few grand and some hard labour and it's back to new again. Going to buy new bench tops and thanks to your insightful video, I will be able to nail it first go. All the best mate!
A video is worth 10,000 words, thanks
Excellent video, so descriptive, very well presented. A big help thanks.
+TheJohnclive021 Thank you for your support more videos coming soon :)
Oh yeah, it's dead easy to take the piss mate - we're all not perfect. Plunge circular saws are great, but not all of us are slaves to the tool manufacturers. The best tradesmen I've ever worked with use a limited number of tools. The best Joiner I have ever known had a rubble sack with a few tools in it, but that guy was an artisan.
Thanks again Dave & I look forward to much more videos.
great video from a good carpenter, makes the job seem extremely easy. he has a lucky apprentise
Clear, concise info. Great video. Cheers mate.
Best step by step demo I've seen
Great detail, Thanks for all the helpful tips to avoid chips, cracking, etc. Well done!
A true professional and a legend at work. great video and precise explanation ...
Thanks Dave.
Good of you to share your skills. I always struggle when the middle wants to drop, if you catch my drift !
Cheers Si.

Its great to learn from a master
Well done Dave, well explained with good tips along the way for novices, keep up the good work.Hope to see you in many more videos on here, also very good picture quality to see the detail in your work .
The thumb up is fine. I really can't understand the thumb down of some people. Why on earth someone will not like something good? Perhaps , that's the answer... something is to good for them..
Enjoyed the worktop jig one and took loads of tips in on this one also ........ Many thanks!!
regards ... Dave (not Iestyn) lol
you make this very easy to understand
Excellent instructional video, thank you !
Great video, just about to do the exact job, thanks for taking the time to post it
Great job, and well presented
Thanks for another great video. These are some of the best construction/DIY videos on the tube. Learned a lot, and picked up many tips. Many hints that I just wouldn't have thought of.
Now you're in the kitchen with a router, any chance of a video jigging, cutting and joining 2 worktops on a corner joint? There's nothing on the web for this that you could sensibly follow to do this job.
Anyway, thanks again!
very well done I am also a joiner I also installer for AYA KITCHENS TRINIDAD thanks
Brilliant tutorial this really helped me with my kitchen thanks for taking the time to do soPaul
excellent video mate, well done
Great video, very helpful (and I loved you in Spinal Tap).
He makes it look so easy, the kitchen fitters version of a Ronaldo free kick.
Excellent video. My tools / drills need upgrading as they're not up to your standard. I'm going to watch again because cutting with a router scares me to death.
Fab. Thankx again Tommy. That was very instructive; and well filmed.
Jigsaw from the top was interesting. And Yes, the blade does angle out quite a lot doesn't it?

Any chance of doing a masons mitre video
Saved my ass! Thank you Sir.
Great tips
Excellent
great video many thanks for help A+++++++++
Very nice.
Question please, the blade you use in the jig saw is it an upward cutting blade or a downward cutting blade?
Aren't they all upward cutting?
No, if you use an up ward cutting blade on a laminated top you will rip the laminated top to bits, you would then turn the worktop upside down and use the upward cutting blade. this will pull up into the laminated top without pulling it away from the chipboard backing. OR you buy downward cutting blades and this give a great cut without ripping the laminate to bits. do a google search for the blades. this is not a joke the two blades do different jobs and a down ward facing blade in a Jij Saw is best when cutting worktop . I hope this helps...
I've done it with an upward cutting blade but I knife marked first. The downcut blade that I had was a very slow cut. Don't know if they are all like that, maybe it was a cheap blade.
ty for this
Top job
Handy tips thanks. Just what I was looking for. What blade do you recommend for the jigsaw please?
good job!!!
Fair play. You are a fuckin' beast. Wish you lived closer to me. Looking to refit my kitchen.
What would be a brand of the water proof sealer that was placed on the cut surfaces of the sink cutout?
great vid, what blade did you use in the jig saw to cut from the top
hello Dave Again
top man!!!thanx
Nice One, What blade did you have in the jigsaw?
hi great video.what wattage of router do you use cutting your worktops? is there a minimum required. many thanks.
Is there another video on finishing off the sink?
the sink is backwards. lol the drain is on the other side... but good info
I didnt know Billy Bob Throrton was a carpenter.
