You might investigate getting a windlass with a ratchet. I have seen them on a couple of vlogs and you only need to push down, then when you stop at the bottom, a ratchet comes in to hold it in place while you easily lift the windlass on the same side and then push down again. So you always have gravity helping you and not working against you. They seem really good on those tough paddles that many women and some men find difficult. A bit expensive I think, but a good investment.

Beautiful river, your dog really loves boat life. Gorgeous filming loved the nature shots and the clouds reflected on the millpond smooth water. Make the most of this nice weather before the hard months of winter descend. Ants scare me because they bite! Take care all of you. X

Loved the video. I think your problem with the difficult mooring was because you are on the river, the flow makes you Ferryglide when at an angle so after the wind got your nose you didn't stand much of a chance. Scenery is beautiful though. You always make me laugh with your comments

We go swimming and paddling boarding around Ripley. There are a few streams up river (500m from wherr you moored up) which you can explore and are stunning.
