You two are living the dream. I'm glad to see people out doing it. You guys take care. I hope to see you both out on the water someday.
Loved that part of Canada 🇨🇦 the people are great, the Border Control was firm but treated people well unlike the other Border.
Excellent job showcasing the beautiful city I live in, VIctoria. Would have loved to have seen Freedom up close.
nice to see you guys enjoying canada...i sailed everywhere on my columbia 26ft....your always welcome here
We would recommend going a bit further to Montague Harbour on Galiano Island…about 1 hour more north. Bullet proof and lovely marine park where you can walk the doggies!
I have been to Canada three times, twice to BC and once to Toronto.. Vancouver Island was exceptional beautiful. I visited Salt Island (for the Bald Eagles of course) and the Island for the Royal Victoria Museum. I would love to come back some day.
Yes our island beautiful, so many places to explore. I’m a senior so I don’t pay to ride the ferries Mondays to Thursday , unless one of those days land on a holiday. I take trips on all the ferries so I can enjoy all the islands. Best dinner with a view as the scenery changes by the minute. So many inlets to see from a boat.
Have a wonderful 2023 Guys and Guyesses. ❤️
Love the tour of the city! Looking forward to Dino 😂
Yes bring on Dino, What is Shawn thinking not to have Dino.
I don't know how you two have managed so much "together time".. I love, love, love my husband and my family, but being able to get away, alone, for just a few hours is necessary for me. I love all of your videos, mostly I enjoy the scenery and the side trips when you are in the Pacific Northwest. Have always enjoyed reading about the area. Vancouver and surrounding areas....fantastic.
Great to see you guys again. All the best for 23.
As a local I enjoyed your take on our cruising grounds. I agree with the comment below that you try Montague Harbour on Galiano Island in future for a beautiful and completely calm anchorage as compared to Otter Bay, or one of the protected anchorages on Prevost Island. Great videography!
Tony & Susan here, we really enjoyed the camera tour thru the narrow street. Vary cool videography. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Happy New Year Freedom crew! Martha and Sully look like they enjoyed Canada. Im sure they would have had a blast chasing all the geese! Thanks for the tips on Otter Bay, we had that location on our list but may pass after your report. We really really like Port Browning Marina on the East side of Pender... where there is also a canal that connects with Bedwell Harbour/Poets Cove Resort in the West side. Its a small marina with some of the best service we've experienced. Great staff, marina office, gift, and coffee shop at top of the dock, and lively pub right at the marina. Really fun vibe.
Only a short (1.5 mi), albeit up hill scooter ride, there is a very nice enclave of stores, grocery, hardware, marine supplies at gas station, a fantastic bakery (Vanilla Leaf, manager is also bartender at the marina pub). Just one of our new favorite stops. I hope you 4 try it out on your way back? Would be a very calm anchorage on all but a direct SE blow up the bay. Going back a cross we always stay in Sidney and also enjoy Brentwood Bay. We stayed at Anglers Anchorage, very close to Butchart, and really enjoyed it. Walk to a fun small Cajun themed restaurant "Blue Bayou", or short scooter ride up to Brentwood Bay Resort pub. Last rec for your return trip would be Salt Spring Marina, very North end of Ganges Harbour. Mobys Pub at top of dock always fun. They have completely rebuilt the marina facilities, all new docks, ramps, power, lighting. Really top notch! They extended all the way out to build a new A and F dock and used "Money Maker" rock as the anchor for it. So you only have to watch out for "Zachary's" rock near entrance to West Side docks. We like bow in on B1-B9 for best views. Easy scooter ride to all Salt Spring had to offer. We have The same scooters you two have, love em!
Mark, Diane, and the pups on M/V True Blue (AT 365-07)
Wow, what a thorough report which will be helpful to many!
Man, that chicken looks awesome. Moist, perfectly done, seasoned, etc.
Well...to be honest it had to go back in for a few more minutes :)
@@mvfreedom After years of cooking, I finally broke down and spent a few bucks and got an instant read cooking thermometer. Mainly for chicken.
😊I enjoy your narratives on the locations you visit. You do your homework. Enjoy your time in Canadian waters, safe voyages, and Happy New Year eh!
Shawn and Elizabeth,
I had a little lapse in viewing after y'all's announcement of taking time off, but now I am back to viewing. It's good to be able to see what you are and have been up to these days. Thank y'all for sharing.
Cheers!
Blue Skies and Calm Seas.
Faithfully,
James
Love your channel. Welcome to Canada. Freedom is a beautiful vessel.
Welcome back to Canada. Have a great trip.
OMG, Shawn is so laid back it's a wonder he doesn't fall over. haha.
We were in Vancouver last September on our Yatch. Well, Celebrity cruise line but we can always dream. Really enjoyed the city.
I'm doc a retired doctor of psychology but now just moved to palm Beach Florida and the boat fever has got me studying for my six pack license. i have been into water life styles for a few years but i like trawlers and Nordhavn as well. i think i want a used but newer boat maybe a 52? i have about 2.5 to spend but i want just the right used boat? Your channel has given me the fever! I really identify with you and your husband but my wife is half my age and the age of my 3 daughters....She loves the water but doesnt know much and will learn from me im sure. i love your channel content and your personalities. You both are very intelligent! My wife and I both have Genius I.Q.s but are still learning the water lifestyle. We love the keys too. james from yacht tech has taught me a lot and he knows so much...i soak him up like a sponge. i have a broad and diverse background it looks like i will use all of in on our live aboard? God Bless you both and i will keep watching and learning! Thanks again . PS. BC Canada is so beautiful but i need my sunshine im in stage 5 kidney failure from Cancer and dont handle the cold well. My young wife is giving me one of her healthy kidneys soon...
Nice job with the shots and the editing.
A great way to start my day! A cup of tea and finding a new Freedom video waiting for me to watch
When I was 5 years old, my family towed a trailer to British Columbia. We went to the Parliament building when it was in session and got kicked out because I was too loud/noisy. We took the CLICK-A-TAC ferry from Seattle. I would like to go back someday.
Hello guys, as a resident of SW Florida and 38 year Master Mariner the NW USA 🇺🇸 and Canada is so different. I enjoy each of your videos. Friendly tides and claim winds hope rule all your travels.
Born in Victoria, so really enjoyed the show! Just a few miles north of where you stayed is Montague Harbor; great place to park on a bad day.
Very well researched. I really enjoyed your travelogue about Victoria. Such pretty scenery. Great video.
Thank you for let us join your Canada Adventures!
Wow thanks so much!
Welcome back!
I am an islander born and raised...I get to look at my island from my rooftop deck in Steveston across the strait now.
👍
One of your best yet. Thank you. Great vid.
Always a well produced video! Your camera quality is outstanding and you make your videos interesting. Thanks for taking us along. Happy New Year!
Best wishes for 2023!
That was a nice stopover. Enjoyed the little visit.
Another wonder and beautiful video! Many Thanks
Hello from wisconsin, I remember when I was about 12 years old going to British Columbia as a family trip, my dad had work up there. we went to Vancouver Island and stayed in the Royal Scots Hotel. Now, my mom always carried around a cast iron pan because she loved making popcorn, and she about burnt down that Royal Scots Hotel. Anyways, thank you for the trip down memory lane.
Thanks once again guys, and here is to wishing you a fantastic New Year.
Welcome back to Canada 🇨🇦
Nice film work Elizabeth, Happy cruising
Love your videos. Thanks for sharing and have a great 2023!
Welcome to Victoria! I was born less than a mile from your moorage in 1952.Moved out to Sooke in 1981.Merry Christmas &all the best in the coming year!
Y’all make amazing videos!!!!! 😊
We can’t wait for the next one!!!
Oh my gosh- you must be/have been right next to MV Geordie at that marina. He loves fixing his wooden boat so much that he got second one.
They walked right past her, on their way for chicken, I'm sure thwt thwt was her.
Wrote that on the last episode if we could expect the see them share a beer with Peter
you guys just across the slipway from Travels with Geordie (peter Knowles)
Yes we were, and Shawn was too embarrassed to go talk to him!
@@mvfreedom Shawn !
I love your channel been watching for year's. Land locked in cottage country Haliburton Ontario. Always dreamed of having a live aboard boat. Glad u love BC its so beautiful.
Awesome soundtrack from Phello!
Happy New Year, wishing you all the best for 2023 🇨🇦😊
Loovvveeee Victoria! Can't wait to go back one day.
One of my favorite cities… Enjoy… Noooooo Dino, I agree with the captain….
Sweet Sunday morning coffee and a Oliva, Let start the vid. Happy New Year.
excellent video editing and music selection enjoyable tour of victoria thank you
Been following you guys for a while now, loving the insight into your lifestyle and adventures, thank you and keep up the good work. I find myself looking forward to each new one.
Hi from Norway great channel. Thank you for wearing a jacket from Helly Hansen Norway 😀 Happy new year.
Wow, your camera and editing skills are getting great. Bravo.
Welcome to Vancouver Freedom crew!! We love watching your videos. It is our dream to own a Nordhavn and cruise the west coast from Alaska to Baja! Enjoy your time here and don’t worry Elizabeth your not the only Lion! 😁
We spent last winter on the Island near Victoria, so really enjoyed the familiar footage! Will follow with interest to see how you handle the abysmal weather you had to endure around Christmas! Happy New Yr!
So glad to to see y’all back!!
Gorgeous video and music! Really enjoy coming along via computer screen. You have really captured your journey well. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year to you both.
Happy New Year and what an incredibly beautiful city. I fully understand why you wanted to return.
So I guess we wait to see if Dino will be standing tall this Christmas 🎄 lol. I'll tune in next week to find out more :)
Awesome boat you got.
Happy new year 🥳
You guys do such a great job putting these videos together. Quality videography and perfect narration. Always a pleasure to watch. Safe travels!
always enjoy your adventures. Jim and Henry (the dog).
I was on dock 2 when I was on a N76! Fun times! Happy new years to you guys!
Great vid. Happy new year.
Beautifully presented video
Excellent cocktails, pupu and world class live music at the Empress Hotel. Been there many times. Saw PM Trudeaux there once on Canada Day weekend. I've also stayed at a Fisherman's Wharf floating airbnb, taken the water taxis and a float plane up in Tofino so really enjoy the memories. Mahalo!!
enjoy Van(couver). I live here.
Brilliant
Happy new year. Great video
Happy New Year...
Happy New Year - and have a safe trip. Nice video as usual
Happy New Year to you both hope you had a great Christmas and New year,
Happy New Year folks and welcome to the West Coast of Canada. You need to come to East Coast, Halifax Nova Scotia. If so will drop in and visit you. Cheers.
We plan to someday!
Love this video! Happy Newyear !!!
Where were U at the Snow 4 days, cold 🥶, ice 🌧 & King Tide ? Wooo that was interesting for Wa. Tho not the first time….. every 10 years 🤷🏼🍀🥴😱
Beautiful job showcasing Victoria. It's a better promo than Destination Victoria has done. lol Have a great time in YVR.
If you had gone into Otter Bay Marina, you would have been fine. For anchoring, I would recommend Bedwell Harbor next time.
It true what you say about Otter Bay as an Anchorage. There are about 3 spots if you tuck in tight that are more protected from ferry wash. The marina is good if you want to tie up. Its also very quaint. Worth the visit.
Great Vid you’s guys! VI is a beautiful stop and your vid there was exceptional… China Town… a Best OF!! Time to migrate south… get some warm winter cruising in!
Ah nice, False Creek is my backyard. I hope you enjoyed the stay!
People anchor where they feel safe. I have anchored in Otter Bay several times and was fairly deep in the bay, about even with the dinghy dock at the park, and more than half way down the marina dock, in the middle of the bay. No problems there with ferry wake. Looks like there may be more buoys there now. Thanks for the video.
Happy new Year 🎅
Great vid, the lions and sheep comment got a thumbs up from me!!!
Lol
If you haven’t already passed, put Port McNiel on your list of stops. It’s an awesome little town with great anchorage as well
Happy New Year and Happy Sails!!
🤣 It's an MV -
Motor Vessel.
Not a sailboat.
@@majoroldladyakamom6948 I'm perfectly aware of that. But thank you for pointing that out tho.
Victoria should use your video as the official tourism video 🤣 - loved the walkthrough .. makes me want to visit! I've been to Toronto and Montreal .. adding Victoria to my list.
Great job as always! Loved the Victoria footage! How did you get those amazing shots? Drone? Love your videos so informative!
We used a 360 camera!
Good for you Elizabeth in being a lion and not a sheep! Welcome back to BC!
Thank you! Sometimes it feels lonely but that's A OK :)
Happy New Year !!
Cool
Love your show thank you your Awesome!
Welcome back....the last time you two were here was around Christmas as well.... :) ....enjoy your stay......
Kinda surprised you even stopped with a 10 trip. Keep the videos coming
Amazing video! We look forward to seeing all of your adventures. How did you get those drone shots with you walking through the narrow streets? Really great video!! Happy New Year to the MV Freedom captains and crew!
We used an Insta360 camera! Gets some cool shots when you can't fly a drone.
@@mvfreedom I will definitely check that out! Thanks for sharing!
minor nitpicking detail these are the provincial legislature buildings. the parliment buildings are the federal government and are in Ottawa
In Toronto it's the provincial parliament building
We did roast duck with a red wine cherry sauce for Christmas. Yummy!
Love your videos. The Lion and Sheep reference cracked me up. All lions here and I may be making my first trip to Canada in 3 years this summer to fish the outside of Vancouver Island. The Lion will get her way and Dino will be flying high in Vancouver;-) Keep up the great content and glad you and Sean are back to making videos.
I don’t understand the whole lion sheep thing? What’s up with not being allowed into Canada?
@@theloopback474 I believe it has to do with being vaccinated? That was the reason I couldn't go into Canada for 2 years. Just my guess.
@@theloopback474 I’m guessing she’s an anti-vaxxer, referencing her husband as a sheep for getting vaxxed. 🤷🏾♂️
OMG an Anti-Vaxxer? My body my choice. Remember that statement. All about Choice and everyone should have one.
@@haps4me858 I agree, but calling someone a sheep for their choice isn’t exactly respectful either.
😀👍👍👍❤ Happy New Year 2023!
Love watching Victoria through your eyes . Have you seen the new railing on Dallas RD.? Get a great wind howl when gales are out of the SW . Love storm watching .Don't be surprised if you get lots of likes in rapped succession Currently binge watching to catch up. Again love the show .
Hope you have a wonderful time in Canada. I was wondering if you could share the link for Sean's mules. I have not seen them before. TIA
Mules?!?
