- Not having somewhere for people to hang their coats when they come over for a visit has always been a problem at out house. In this video, I solve that problem by making a simple, modern coat rack out of a red oak board and a dowel rod. A simple but effective solution.

A perfect way to use material that would have been still sitting there 2-3 years later, if it were in my shop.
Haha that red oak board has been sitting in my shop for 4 years!
What a great way to use up scrap wood as well! Glad to see more videos from you. ~GrumpyOwlWoodworks
for sure another great way to use scraps! Thanks for watching, Katy!
COOL DESIGN!
Thanks man!
Love the build Nick!👍👍
Thanks Mike!
Really nice idea, will definitely build it, too
Built it and tag me! I’d love to see it.
I dig that dude. Solid add to the house!
Thanks man! Used it for real tonight already!
Turned out great, Nick! Good cal on pulling the clamp back off before it was unusable.
Thanks, Bruce! Could have been a bad deal haha
I love the look of this. I need to hop on this black dye bandwagon
Thanks! Jump on board!!
0:30 This is really well-edited! Well done!
Very nice. Another way to get that red oak to go jet black is to apply iron acetate (vinegar and dissolved steel wool) stain.
Nice man. Worked really well. Looks good
Thanks, Nick. The wife likes it so it's a win!
very nice addition man. I've never use leather dye before but that looks amazing!
Thanks man! The leather dye is my newest obsession turning things black.
Nice. I have a bunch of red oak, but don’t really care for the look of it. I’ll have to try that leather dye. Looks sharp!
thanks! black red oak is the best red oak.
I dig the red oak blaaaacckkk 👌🏼👌🏼
black is where it's at!
@@KeyWoodworks umm does it hold hats with the correct brim? Or am I in the wrong place 🤔
@@TwoMooseDesign it ONLY holds hats with the correct brim
@@KeyWoodworks awe man definitely following the wrong channel...
@@TwoMooseDesign haha
Awesome vid man! I liked your little “slapping the table and material appears” shot haha. Also when you say you hung it with Key jokes, are they like a specially designed and patented holes trademarked by you, Nick Key? Or just regular keyholes?
Thanks! My keyholes are secret patented trademarked proprietary keyholes...which is why I did them off camera. 😜
@@KeyWoodworks ahh I see now. Thank you 😂
I’ve been wanting to make one of these for a long time. But if I don’t film it, does it count? Also you should make them for your hats and see how many times you make it around the inside of your house. 😜
If you don’t film it, it doesn’t count. I don’t think there’s enough wood available to make enough racks for all my hats 😜
New outro who dis?
Air high five for noticing!!
