There was a mascot cat living in a small grocery store in Vancouver Canada, for about 10 years or so, then some witch went in the store and complained, then called the city to complain. The cat got evicted. It too got a loving home, but boy did people take to Facebook and slam that lady for being a rat. The store owner did a cool thing though...he banned her from ever stepping foot in his store. That made her even madder, but the public backed him up 100%. I think she even tried to sue the store if I'm remembering correct....and lost. 😂 moral of the story, DON'T RAT OUT STORE MASCOT ANIMALS.
Rodents are just one perk, cats repel them just by their presence, other is de-stressing the employees, cats have even health benefits for us humans and not all can have a kitty of their own, community cats are perfect solutions. And of course, it will bolster the sales too - many of us specifically do business with stores, that have their little quirks, like paint section feline or cashiers sassy sidekick parrot.
if you ask the employees OFF camera- what you'll find is that the cat stayed in the store for 10 years- until a new A55HOLE manager or district manager arrived on the scene. karens come in all shapes & sizes- and home depot management is no exception. if you want that BS animal hatred to stop? call 1-800 depot & complain about the store manager until the 6a5tard is removed. my local ace hardware has a store kitty named ACE. she's a good girl & everyone in the neighborhood loves her. says a LOT about management there.

When my daughter got married one of the 3 florists in town included a picture of their cat on their website. That was the florist we chose and I made sure the owner knew that. The cat was named Gertie and she was adorable.
In key west Florida there are cats gracing almost every business, they are welcome, along with the chickens and roosters that run the streets as they have for decades. Don’t like it, the business owners and residents will tell you to get lost, seriously!

When the owner said to put him out, they called me and I went and got him, just like I said I would. That was a little over four years ago. He never had a real name, so I named him Vinny, short for Vincent Van Gogh, because in his younger years he fought with the strays and lost an ear. He's getting old now and has health issues, but he's a good cat and I love him, and I'll make sure he's taken care of for the rest of his life.

I know a man who was a manager at a Home Depot in Canada. He told me there are always mice problems in stores. This will put me off shopping at Home Depot here. I have three rescue cats and each one is loving, playful, comforting. They are all house cats now and live very happy lives.

This is some customer (just one is needed) who registers a complaint about the cat. it happened at a liquor store i use to visit often. They had a 'street cat' that lived at the store and owners were forced to give it the boot after one complaint. ONE KARREN/KEVIN knowing (thinking) they rule everything.

Employees taking care of cats warms my heart. My cat was lost for 28 days, and I posted and updated by numbering each day he was gone on Facebook, I received a Facebook message with videos of my cat that a Sam’s Club employee found him! Then I received a Facebook Messenger phone call, and we drove over there and picked him up! All the employees had been feeding and taking care of him.❤️ The employees would not take a dime for their kindness, which I can understand.❤️

There is a Home Depot I believe in New Jersey, that has a cat, Mr. Leo, who is still king of that store. All these cats who reside at Home Depot locations across the country need to form a cat union to protect these cats from unlawful evictions, and if for some reason the store closes permanently, the corporate office must relocate the cat to a different store, or give it a severance payout.
Maybe just that one. I doubt if there's any other home improvement stores who advertise being cat friendly. If there are, I'd like to know and I'll give them my business instead.
Home Depot actually has several stores that have cats that live there for rodent control. They are like real employees. It’s precious, one of them named Leo is pretty famous and his caretaker has a channel on here. The channel is catdad2020 😊

Of course health department came and said get rid of cat. He protested that without cat, rodents will take over. Apparently rats are ok. Employee took cat home with them.

Not only did they evict the kitty after 10 years, they threatened to send a beloved 10 year old cat to an animal shelter, pretty much guaranteeing that it would end her life. The only good thing about this story is that now, hopefully, Mama Cat is in a loving home with a grassy, fenced yard and/or catio, with people who will lovingly protect her from outside dangers and who will devote a soft portion of their bed to Mama Cat's comfort.

My local Kmart had a young kitty living in the garden center. One day I asked the employees if I could take her and they said yes. I already had 4, so I took her to my vet and she was adopted by another client of the vet that day-and had a forever home. Cats need to be inside a home to live long and healthy lives. I am happy to have been able to help that young kitty!
Sweet little lady. Im so happy she was adopted out. She is valid. People dont understand how connected we are to these fellow inhabitants. When an animal receives love from a human being, it elevates their soul. It helps them to progress through energetic evolution. Its beautiful.

Poor reporting on the story. Why was the cat being evicted? Either corporate edict or a Karen complained. I attempted getting a program started where I worked as there were mice and rats, as well as feral cats inside the building. We had enough people pledging to pay for food, litter and the vet bills, but corporate didn't want the liability if someone were to get bit. All it takes is one complaint and it's a no-go.

Plenty of other countries often have cats as unofficial mascots who hang around the businesses and let customers pet or admire them. They never cause any problems, and usually the response is overwhelmingly positive.

The Home Depot in Rancho Cordova Ca had cat named Thomas for around 18 years. Recently he had become frail and needed a more pampered lifestyle and a store employee took him home to better care for him. He loved to be petted and talked to. I used to look forward to seeing him each time I went there. I hope he’s doing better. I and others knew he was getting frail so he wasn’t evicted, he upscaled.
I don't feel like ordering from this company anymore. I'm glad the cat got adopted and disappointed that they don't help the strays near the store. It wouldn't cost much.
What Home Depot should have done is to announce free neutering and spaying for the cats outside the store. Make it a big fan fare, its free ads for them, and people will love them more for it. Then Home Depot could have solve 2 problems at once

When a new director started down this line at the place minister works, the staff promised to walk out en masse and take it public. He backed down ..... Turned out he didn't want it to go the Head Office that he couldn't work with his new staff.

Our local Achille (now Blue Seal) has a cat. I look for her every time I go in. I imagine she keeps the rodent population down in this feed store.

@@kyledodson2992 That whiny idea never has made it with me. I am seriously allergic to cats but I live with SIX of them, all indoors only. I've learned to cope with my allergies and to use meds when necessary.

Cats are a sign of good luck and health. She kept the pests out for years! Glad she has a forever home, but If I had a shop, you better bet there would be cats in it!
This is why i shop at Lowe's. They would not evict the resident cat.

Plenty of other countries often have cats as unofficial mascots who hang around the businesses and let customers pet or admire them. They never cause any problems, and usually the response is overwhelmingly positive.

I knew several guys that worked in shops and warehouses that has cats that lived in the building and
the cats were taken care of. Bad move on Home Depot.
My Home Depot has also has a cat that’s been there for years and she’s quite beloved by customers and spoiled by the staff. Certainly not going to say which store now!
After ten years they threw the cat out, just like that. A dishonourable act. The cat trusted them, and they harmed her because they could. Did not anyone want to take the cat home, if they hat to relocate the little tigger? To someone she knew? To the woman, who said that the cat recognised and loved every staff member? Why did not she take the puss to her home? Why do people do horrible things?

The Home Depot in Rancho Cordova Ca had cat named Thomas for around 18 years. Recently he had become frail and needed a more pampered lifestyle and a store employee took him home to better care for him. He loved to be petted and talked to. I used to look forward to seeing him each time I went there. I hope he’s doing better. I and others knew he was getting frail so he wasn’t evicted, he upscaled.

I don't feel like ordering from this company anymore. I'm glad the cat got adopted and disappointed that they don't help the strays near the store. It wouldn't cost much.

At my former day job had a cat who was also evicted from the store. She was adopted by a store employee. I would of taken her if I known.
What Home Depot should have done is to announce free neutering and spaying for the cats outside the store. Make it a big fan fare, its free ads for them, and people will love them more for it. Then Home Depot could have solve 2 problems at once

Removing the cat to an animal shelter after 10 years. Sounds like a karen, or new ah executive/ manager.
There is always a cat hating director or manager who decides that they can throw their weight around. When a new director started down this line at the place minister works, the staff promised to walk out en masse and take it public. He backed down ..... Turned out he didn't want it to go the Head Office that he couldn't work with his new staff.
My local Lowes has a cat that hangs out by the outdoor garden department - shy but cute critter :)
My town's lawn sprinker and mower store has about five cats that lay right on the counters around the store. Love that place.
