This item is discontinued from both Kurt and Hopkins, does anyone know where to get one of these? I ended up with a universal kit from Uhaul when they told me that it was the specific kit for my vehicle 1991 jeep Cherokee Laredo but it was just a universal kit and there are a lot of wires to splice that I really don’t want to mess with or mess up

I don't get the impression it will. I suggest you go to Amazon and put in your vehicle and try it. I just bought the kit he specifies for my Jeep, but it's a 1996 Country XJ, so it's in the range.

As far as what else to tow safely, what are you planning on towing? I mean, the Jeep really only tows light loads of 2,000 pounds and that includes the weight of the trailer. If you have the automatic, I've read on the Jeep Forum you can pull 5,000 but if so, I'd be thinking about electric brakes, otherwise that thing will be pushing you around.

Where do you ground the ground wire?

use the already existing ground bolt where you are working (the existing tail light wiring ground)

YES IT IS THE SAME! they have different style plugs and you also need to ground it to the chassis, but the process is the same
