    Fantastic video, and I can also say after doing this upgrade using the same kit I'm very pleased.. I also upgraded the bulbs to Philips Racing vision GT200, Perfect for the dark and bendy Irish back roads...

    Best thing l ever did was replace sealed beams with Hella H4 E-code housings, with LED bulbs. Looks stock and brighter than many modern cars. The E-codes are key, though. Way better light pattern than DOT.

    Nice upgrade. I agree it is one of the best I’ve ever done. 👍
    Another option is to replace the lights bulbs with Philips Led Ultinon Pro6000 for the stock looks. Street legal in Europe and about 1/3 lower on power consumption. But snow and frost on the lenses does not melt easier.

    your narration is best. very unique / funny / informative
    EDIT: yeah, same- don't really like LEDs either... like jfc, some of those things shouldn't be legal -they are blinding to the person coming towards you

    Awesome upgrade! I like the fact it’s plug and play no need to splice. Amazing difference before and after. Pretty big price difference between the jeep cables and eBay. I did not know there was an issue with melting from the stock setup. Thanks for great video I am definitely adding it to my upgrade project list.

    As usual, very informative video!
    Nevertheless: I've heard rumors that the halogen bulbs tend to burn out faster using this mod; I'm curious if this will happen; just keep us posted.

    • @WAEMIDIV
      @WAEMIDIV  6 місяців тому +1

      I can see that, with more power going through them they burn hotter, which does wear out light bulbs faster. That is a valid concern and I'll keep y'all posted. New halogen bulbs are like $10 a piece at least

    • @Steinerrides
      @Steinerrides 6 місяців тому +2

      Yes, that is true, but most vehicles are wired this way using a relay directly off the battery. So they should last as long as any other kind of car with halogen bulbs.

    What a wacky way to adjust the lights, but it does seem to be a pretty good way to do it, also seems you'll always run into something wrong to happen, with that adjustment screw coming off. RIP Jimbo-Mobile

    I found your video because just like yours my top torque screw came out of its groove as well but for some reason I cant get the housing to flex back enough to get it back in like you did. Did you have to loosen the other torque screw completely or am I missing something?

    So video says 97-01 but you also showed your xj next to an older 96- model. Will the harness upgrade work for a 96 and older? And if it does, why not name the video 84-01? Either way thanks for the video

    • @WAEMIDIV
      @WAEMIDIV  6 місяців тому

      Yes the same harness works for all model years, the other XJ pictured was the one that convinced me to get it.
      I went with 97-01 just because the header panel is put together a bit differently on the older ones. More screws, different places etc. Jimbo's video (in the description) covers the 84-96 years

    Do you still have a headlight with a bulb built in? i didnt know they had those on modern cars, only 70s 80s

    • @expo4266
      @expo4266 6 місяців тому +2

      Headlights were federally mandated to be one of 4 sealed beam configurations until 1986. The 1986 Ford Taurus was the first car to not use a standard sealed beam headlight after that mandate was lifted. For the 97+ XJ update I believe Chrysler was just being cheap and not fixing what wasn't broken by keeping the sealed beams.

      @@cappacullaan extremely common upgrade is to swap the sealed beam for an h4 compatible housing that looks factory. (I have done this on my jeep)

    The screws holding the headlights kicked my ass. Im pretty sure ALL are rusted and will be stripped. I couldnt even get one out after trying everything excluding using power hand tools. Is my only option really to grab a tremor or a power drill and get a screw extractor kit? 🫠

      @@WAEMIDIV Im in Vancouver BC! Just got my XJ a couple weeks ago and I’ve never turned a wrench since this week! I was and still am motivated to start my DIY journey and I find joy in it for sure but I never realized how many stripped and rusted bolts and screws I was going to deal with. I intend to work on the car as much as I can and I know I power drill will eventually be needed so Im looking into getting one tomorrow. Once I get them I’m looking at getting a screw extractor bit kit and then I’ll give it another go.
