That’s a good point. The 1st saying is just that ‘God is.’ Doesn’t require our belief to exist, which is a great point to share.

@@trasktalker1782 yes as a Jew I was ritually circumcised and my son who was not born jewish (his mother is catholic) was circumcised also. I do not have any regrets having it done. I dont remember it and I feel it helps with my genital hygiene as well as sexual enjoyment for myself and my partner. I dont believe that it was "mutilation".

I just want to say thank you so much for explaining this religion in simple terms! I started to be curious about Judaism just recently at the age of 44. I started by watching services and I was very overwhelmed and didn’t understand it at all. So, again, thank you so much!

I’m not Jewish, but I started watching your channel out of curiosity and, honestly, you brought me closer to my own religion. We share most of the same views on God, which is something I always struggle to talk about with my Christian friends and family. When I watch your videos, it’s like I’m having a deep conversation with a good friend who’s saying exactly what’s on my mind.

I feel like you made this video at the exact moment that I was having a hard time explaining stuff to my daughter. She was asking about believing totally and fully in things and how she's not sure what exactly she believes. And I said, "well, I guess its a good thing we're Jewish then, huh?" And she didn't understand my response and I was having a hard time finding some of the words. So this actually helped me to explain to her what I wanted to convey. Thanks.

In every single way we talk about God it is in the contemporary way of speaking. There is no way to relate to God with our finite understanding of the world. God is beyond space, time, and matter and there is no possible way we can come close to understanding Him with our minds. Therefore, when we say God is jealous or he stretched out his arm or when we call Him by the pronoun "He", it doesn't at all mean that this is how we think He literally is. "He" is just an easy way to speak when referring to Him. God has no gender and to try to make this into some sort of equal rights for women type of thing is ridiculous.

I used to pray to Jesus and God didn't hear me. Praying straight to God, He hears me and provides answers. From what I am reading, the Torah is a lot like the old testament. I'm lost. This was very insightful, thank you! I would be interested to hear what Jewish people believe about Yeshua. This is perhaps a bit controversial, but I genuinely want to understand. I asked another Jewish mom UA-camr her beliefs about Yeshua, having been raised Catholic and later converting to Judaism, but her kurt response suggested I had offended her, which was not my intention.
Any chance you'd be willing to answer this question?

I'm going to assume this was asked in good faith, but the simple answer is... we don't. He's not God, he's not a Prophet, he's a man who lived and died in the second temple era and gained a following as the leader of an apocalyptic sect of Judaism. Ever since then, Christians (and "messianic Jews", which I feel like you might be for calling him Yeshua?) have been trying to goad us into acknowledging him as our God and us as his murderers, but it's really not something we care about.

If Yeshua means nothing to these people then why get so offended? Personally I do believe in him a a Christian as he was foretold throughout the Old Testament. I’m all for grace if someone doesn’t agree that’s fine but I just wish people could be more respectful bc we are all different.

I'm not sure if I have asked this before, but how do you feel about using the name of G-d? Is the trial to form coherent word from the Tetragrammaton something a Jew can understand? Does it feel disrespectful when some Christians and Christianity based movements use the name as a sort of direct noun or is it just indifferent?

I was raised non-practicing Catholic. My parents both went to Catholic school and church and hated it, so they raised me without; but when I started asking questions, Catholic was the framework they're answers came from. I consider myself spiritual/Christian more than anything, but this makes a lot more sense. I've never quite conceptualized the "Trinity," agreed with original sin, etc. I've always believed in something that I called God, who can (and has) intervene himself or through people, but imagined one entity. I believe there is an ultimate plan for each of us, and an afterlife of some kind, and I'm vaguely familiar with the Bible, but I don't think it's fair to judge someone with scripture.

I came to ur channel bc I came to the realization suddenly that Jewish ppl don’t believe in God after mingling with a couple of ppl throughout my life. Well after ur explanation I understand and I would like to mention it resonates a lot with some parts of Catholicism. I am catholic and went to catholic school in an urban area they pretty much taught us about all faiths ( bc most ppl who went to the school were from different and went to Catholic school bc the public schools in the area were bad) and I must say they actually did a pretty good job in my school. I moved out of the area and now live in a rural area and go to church sometimes but the catholic ppl out here are a bit out of the loop. It’s more like a cult not like in my in my home-city and I get why ppl shy away .

I’m Jewish, but I still believe is Jesus and I believe god sent him down to die on the cross for our sins. But people don’t believe that when I tell them. “You’re Jewish. You can’t believe in god” but, that just makes no sense. My dads side of the family is Jewish. But my moms side are Christians. So I was raised to believe in god (which I do) and I was also raised to celebrate Hanukkah and light the menorah every year (which I do)
I often get called a fake believer and am told I’m not aloud to celebrate Christmas because I’m a jew. But, I’m only half Jew and was still raised in a mostly Christian household. And I don’t see anything wrong with believing and celebrating both holidays and religions 😅

I’m glad you acknowledge how Judaism has changed over time. The Jewish people has its identity in the relationship and interaction with God throughout the ages. To deny the existence of God, as many so called “atheist Jews” have done is to cease to be Jewish in my opinion. It’s just in vain to continue practicing religious traditions if you don’t believe. I mean, think about the most basic prayer “Amen!”, that means to give assent to something being true. I honestly think that you would never hear Jewish teachers, scholars, prophets, or priests thousands of years ago telling people they don’t have to believe in God. Like, it makes no sense at all. Does the truth change over time or is it constant? The idea that it doesn’t matter if you believe in God is stupid because as soon as you don’t believe, what reason is there for you to follow the law and commandments anymore? Either God dictated his law to us or he didn’t. We understand how to be good based on what God has told us over time. How can there be any expectation of living a good life when we have somehow cut ourselves off the source of goodness?
Thanks for your video, a lot of things to think about in there.

I couldn't help but wonder while I was watching... if a Jew doesn't believe in God, then what is their heritage and what is the point of celebrating and observing all of the feast days, obeying the commands, etc for the same points you brought up (arctechtulare) 🤔
I suppose you can be Jewish by heritage and be secular, but again what would be the point of observing any of what scripture tells us to? You don't have to be any specific religion or have lineage to any particular region or people to celebrate Christmas, Easter or any pagan holiday, for instance, but it's quite different for a people who are supposed to be God's chosen and set apart from the rest...

I’m not Jewish, so I defer to others who know far more than I do when contemplating the religion. But I will make a logical observation based on the premises presented in this video. Here goes: If being Jewish is more than a result of adopting certain tenets of faith, how is conversion possible? If, as the video suggests, belief is subordinated to existential identity when determining Jewishness, how can one decide to become a Jew? Can a lion decide to become a tiger? I know my observation and questions are relevant in practice because converts are looked upon suspiciously as “Jewish lite” and outside the fold in many circles. MANY circles!

Again showing a close relationship. The first commandment is hear O Israel meaning listen and obey Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart thy being.
