ALSO, I'm going to be doing a faction focus video on the Dwarf Guilds soon. I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions on the army, your gaming experience if you've played games with them, etc. :) Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the great Battle Report! I love my Dwarf Guilds, they are really tough for their point cost, and yeah they are slow but hard to shift which is a nice gameplay for me. Quality 4+ on some one-attack weapons can be very frustrating (looking at you, Anti-Tank Cannon, Rail M-Cannon or Superheavy Fusion Rifle). They play very differently from, say, the Leagues of Votann in 40k and closer to what I imagine Space Dwarves should play. So fun, absolutely my favorite faction in the game. Only need to be able to put Regeneration on the Powersuit Guards and I'll be a happy man. Also, the Dwarf Guilds in Warfleets look like they'll keep this "slow but unkillable" gameplay and I'm all there for it. Though let's be honest, if your enemy gets the map control first, you'll lose. You really NEED projection (miners, powersuits teleporting, or vehicules/bikes charging) to not be cornered in your deployment.
@@loveandwargames Thanks for the comment! I've really been enjoying playing them so far as well. Powersuit guard with Regen would be a scary thing lol especially with shields!
Love to see Alien hives getting love since they are my main GDF faction. I've been building Eternal Dyansty army lately as well and find them pretty interesting and they are a uniquely OPR army. Great models to paint too in my opinion. Lots of details that take well to slap chop style pre highlighting
I printed a few eternal dynasty models out when the army was released. Like five or so models. They do have some cool units and are fairly unique. Maybe someday I'll get around to building up that army.
Keep it up, love to see OPR being represented. I used to play Warhammer twenty years ago but when I looked into it a year ago I was disgusted by the predatory practices. I found a home with OPR and now I play with my sons all the time.
Nice! Opr is a way better introductory wargame IMO. I started with 40k 6-7 years ago and found it to be overwhelming and absurdly expensive. The lore is great though.
Good video as always, but I think that your board can use more LOS blocking terrain with those shooting armies. Don't get me wrong it was interesting battle to watch, it's just my inner gamer. :D
Fair enough! I feel like every game I play teaches me something about terrain placement. I probably would have added a few buildings if I had some that fit the map.
great battle report - like the condensed format. This is another battle where the hives lost - and I did not see any critical mistakes or streaks of excessive luck - are the hives underpowered compared to the dwarves? (long time tyranid player - but have not played hives in OPR). Starting to feel like the videos should be called "Can the Hives beat the dwarves ....." not enough LOS blocking terrain? I know some could consider this a contentious comment - but looking for your thoughts.
Further watching… I *love* the winter terrain! Question - why did the Mortar Beast explode when it died? I don’t see anything about that in the unit description. 🤔
@@larryirish9498 huh yea that is a weird rule. Was it like that in V2? I've always played it with enemy units. It's meant to keep units from getting "locked in combat".
@@larryirish9498 yea, I can't really think of a good reason why it would be like that. If anything I think it would lead to more grey areas with consolidations/pile Ins, which are already clunky sometimes.
Warhammer for people with less free time lol. I can regularly get two or three games of OPR in a Saturday afternoon. 40k would be one game against one opponent in that same amount of time. Army building is also much quicker. Money isn't even the problem for me with Warhammer I literally can't keep up with the rules because they make it so hard to collect all the info I need.
Yes. But every game that isn't Warhammer is Dollar General in comparison because the majority aren't out to reach into our back pocket every year to choke us out of money for a 'new' edition, phasing out models so you have to buy new ones and generally over pricing their kits/supplies. OPR is a game. Warhammer is a model line with something resembling a game attached to it to make you feel less bad for spending so much money on toy soldiers.

Great report always! Good to see Jon again. Great dynamics between you both! Dwarf army is looking good. Might copy some schemes for my own dwarves.
Thanks man! I like the scheme for the most part. I based it off of a Darcy bono votann video.
Blast it! You beat me to this battle!

Yeah, I’ve found that terrain volume & placement has a huge affect on the game.
Great content!
Thank you 😊

Dwarfs are op. Lol. That beam weapon on the apc is worth every point!

He was just joking lol I do wish they would add an explosion rule to the vehicles similar to 40k
Does Alien hive win sometimes? :P
APC not having melee other than impact that is intentional most "vehicles" that aren't walkers don't have melee other than impact.
Yea true
One observation - the different units ought to have a 1” gap between them. The various units are pretty tight together. FWIW… 😁
The 1" rule applies to enemy units only, if that's what you mean.
Check the rules for “Advancing” - pg8 of the full rules, 2nd paragraph. Paraphrasing- Models cannot be within 1” of another unit (friend or foe).
@@larryirish9498 huh yea that is a weird rule. Was it like that in V2? I've always played it with enemy units. It's meant to keep units from getting "locked in combat".
I think it’s always been that way. 🤔
I expect it’s like in the game Bolt Action - it helps to tell your units apart.

Also costs a lot less than Warhammer
Also not predatory with no power creep. Plus fair gameplay mechanics.
Also they don't go around ruining their lore!.
