Awesome! Nice to see some OPR battle reports. Couple details: 3:20 You keep control of an objective until it is taken away, or become contested. An objective can return to neutral/contested if you and your opponent both have a valid unit next to it at the end of a round. 12:25, 26:00 and 32:25 Your character save doesn't matter. Because all attacks are simultaneous, you roll all your saves with the unit's save until the end of the activation. You only save with the character's save if your character is alone when it gets targeted. 16:00 You could have casted the spell in the middle of your movement, while both units were in range and in sight. 18:43 Your Gators have two weapons and 1 bash per model. You only attacked with half of your weapons.
It is great seeing you folks play GDF! These rules by One Page Rules are very pleasant to play. All three of the reports thus far have shown great terrain and armies. Your reports are very well done, thanks for making them!
For the Saurians, they have a spinosaurus, gator veteran, and dactyl riders that are cool. For the Alien Hives, the carnivores, ravenous beasts, shadow hunters, and psycho-rex are cool
I love the mentions of English Civil War and Napoleonic. I would love to see those in a battle report. This game was awesome! I love watching a game in just 35 minutes. Such a cool game system.
Very high quality very nice. I wanted to say the burrower vs gator during turn 2 the burrower won. He took 3 wounds, and did one in return, but he has Fear(3) so he count as having done 3 more wound for result, so he had 4 vs 3 so the frog should have rolled moral !
Also for adding unit for alien hive, I'll go for 6 hive swarm, it's very cheap meat shield and you can give them ambush. Flamer beast for a reliable anti infantry monster, also the mini is cool. And Carnivo Rex is relatively cheap for a monster with defense 2+ and 12 hit points ! Those would be my three pick. I would also add some grunt with serrated claws to the assault grunts
Since you're looking for new armies, Dwarf Guilds and High Elf fleets. 1) Dwarf vs Elf, a classic matchup 2) I think 40k players might be interested in seeing Elves with a range that's not 30 years old and Space Dwarf's with a range that has units. The big Dwarf extractor, the Battle Train, the drill tank, the big Robot suits are all very visually impressive and simply have no 40k equivalents while absolutely being Dwarfy to the core. Elves are just equivalents but the unified art style is very nice.
I really love how this game is really easy and quick to understand while still having some complexity to it and being really tactical. Being able to make 2 or 3 games in just 2 hours is also a huge plus for me
Smaller units means more activations allowing for better screening tactics (or luring out the charges). In addition I would put some Dactyl riders in for flight into the Saurians.
This is true - but on the other hand, more units guarantees your opponent will consistently get the first activation of the turn. It's a delicate balance!
I really like the flow of the game and it's so much easier to follow when watching because there aren't a million extra unit/army rules to track. More OPR please!
3k Points is pretty much the sweet spot, where you can use anything in the army builder and still have a pretty fast game. For the alien hives take a look at the invasion spore, it is basically a tank with ambush that can carry a full squad of units. I like to use spores to have a massive dmg spike at turn 2.
3000 point games are great especially if both sides bring one huge, near 1000 point model. You get the big stuff but don't add much to the overall game time. This is true in the other direction as well. Stating the obvious here, but if you rebuild the Hives and Starhost with zero big single units and just a bunch of small infantry, the games naturally get longer simply because there's more stuff to move around.
Having grown up playing 2nd edition 40k in the 90's, one thing I'd say about fixed charges and such is that (it's been a long time so may be off on this), but as I recall you were not allowed to pre-measure things. So if you were trying to position out of charge range of a unit you had to guess 'I think that's more than 12'. Same with firing weapons. If you declared you were shooting at someone and then measured and were out of range, you wasted your shots shooting at someone out of range. It adds another layer onto the gameplay decisions that offsets the lack of randomness from dice for charge range. Don't know which one I'd say is better, and 2nd edition had so many little edge case rules that the games took forever, but it's neat seeing different systems and how they interact.
Just an FYI, that Dread Titan upgrade doesn't bring the unit to 920 points, it ADDS 920 points. The total cost of the model with the upgrade is 1,610 points. I honestly don't know if its worth it, it only adds 6 wounds, but the gun it adds does have the potential to do 24 wounds: 4 attacks, AP4, deadly 6. And yes, there is a way to ignore the 35% rule. When creating the army list uncheck Force Organization.
Great game, guys, and always good to see more OPR content on the channel! As for new unit suggestions, I'd recommend... Chameleon Geckos for the Saurians would probably help. That or a unit of their flyers units! As for the Alien Hives, I'd recommend some Venom Beasts (the Stealth Aura is really helpful) or Synapse Beasts (Caster units are pretty awesome)
For alien hives the Hive Lord is really good and looks great. Rippers with Ambush do work. Synapse beasts have a very cool and unique ability where each model can be a caster in a unit of up to 6, so you get 6 points per turn which is pretty good, especially given that Alien Hives have very good spells
I'm new to GDF and also play Alien Hive. Standout units for me have been 2x 3-man units of Shadow Leapers with full Serrated Blades. Keep them in ambush until your opponent also deploys theirs ambush and almost every time the Leapers delete anything they touch. The new Synapse Tyrant is also fun, pair him with a Carno-rex with serrated blades. Hide behind it and pheromone the rex up the field while it sprints every activation... Oh make sure to give the rex regeneration so the tyrant can buff it to a 4+.
I love the BR's so far! I think it'd be intresting to add some more 1w models to the Saurian Starhost - the Warriors with their standard loadout are quite fun, especially with the predator buffs, and the Chameleons are a fun situational unit, with scout, lots of low ap volume, and not very much defense. Also remember mixed lists are a-ok even with competitive rules, 60% as your 'main' faction allows lots of fun combos - e.g. robot legions that have contracted dino mercs
Just so people know, OPR scales its points costs in such a way as to encourage faster, smaller games. 2000 points is the normal amount, but you'll have far fewer units on the table in a 2000 points OPR game than you would in a 2000 points 40k game. Honestly, I think even 3,000 points would still be a little smaller than most 2,000 pt 40k games.
Love the batrep guys :) more OPR - 40k batreps are just too long!! I agree with the swapping killing units, but think it's a result of the you-go-I-go system and much prefer that :) Charge issues make sense as will I make it? can lead to interesting results. Marginally prefer OPR system and fixed charges. Maybe charge D6+6"? more definite for short distances and variable for longer charges? Thanks
Not in the newest version, you become shaken, giving a minus one to every roll unless you do nothing. If you lose morale again while shaken then you get wiped if I remember correctly
@@mercerholt8299 That is true in shooting or if you have more than half of your total figs/wounds in your unit in melee. If you are melee and your unit is at half or below your wounds/figs and you fail morale, you Route (are removed).
Awesome to see another OPR game!!! Feedback on expansion? Use more gw minis. Thanks for the OPR content - but again - the best part of OPR - is that 90% of your channel - already have minis for it.
Awesome! Nice to see some OPR battle reports.

man these are nicely painted armies. So jealous.
When presenting the units, could you put up the card from the Army Forge on screen for each unit. That would be awesome.
I adore that Saurian paint scheme! Y'all should do an OPR narrative campaign.
Yes! So glad to see more OPR getting played. Love the paint schemes you got going on for them as well. Has anyone tried the Da Vinci forces yet?
I love watching OPR games - so fast and reactive :)
OPR is the reason why I didn't sell my warhammer minis (at least all of them)
For the Saurians, they have a spinosaurus, gator veteran, and dactyl riders that are cool. For the Alien Hives, the carnivores, ravenous beasts, shadow hunters, and psycho-rex are cool
Yay for more OPR content! These battle reps are amazing!!!
oh no not the dread Gazebo!. Those things are vicious.

It is called Warfleets - and is a ton of fun.
