I got a baby as my first reptile ever he's doing well. He's very friendly. I think they will get used to handling very fast.
Mint Flavored Idiot hey I’m due to pick up my first crested gecko next week, it’s a baby. Do you have any tips???
@@MisScandalousScarlet I just got two babies. To get them used to me I've been holding my hand in the tank to get them used to hands. What would you want tips on?
MastemaJack just anything you wish someone might of told you that you didn’t know 😅. I’ve done my research but I’m soo nervous. I’ve never had any type of reptile before. I keep watching yt videos and it’s like a black hole 😂😂.
I’m hoping once I’m a more advanced owner, and when the gecko is big enough for a tank upgrade, I’ll do a bioactive vivarium?
@@MisScandalousScarlet I plan on doing a bioactive tank as well. I suggest Clint's Reptiles. Crested geckos are easier to take care of than gold fish. I got an adult crested gecko and I got bite. Didn't hurt. I don't think it meant to
MastemaJack I’ve bee addicted to Clints videos 😂.
Would you recommend a hearting Matt or a heated bulb. Obviously nothing with high heat, but my room is quite cold during the winter which is soon and just wondering which would be better?
I just got my first crested gecko today I'm so excited!
Hi one year later how has it been going haha
I got one today
I'm getting one next week
@@j0y.447how’s it going
Getting mine 3 days he a lil baby and when I handled him with the breeder he was super chill and wasn’t trying to get away or skittish
How’s it going?
hows he now?
Outstanding video! After raising over 5k baby cresties, I completely agree with all your wonderful points. I especially appreciate your comment about feeding them ONLY CGD the first month. Again, great video!
Supreme Gecko Thank you so much!!!! 💕💕💕
What's CGD?

Thank you just got two babies for my 75th birthday from my daughter and you help makes me feel so much more secure in caring for them
How are they!?
Happy late birthday!!!
I got my first crested gecko as a hatchling a year ago so amazing to see the growth
I just got a baby Dalmatian today and I’m already in love!❤️😂
update 2 years later: that little dalmatian (cookie) is about to breed for the first time!! i’m hoping to get some more baby dals
Same lol mines so active too just loves to climb and jump around
I’m getting a Dalmatian too!
I used to have a pinstripe with Dalmatian spots. I find ones that are only Dalmatian spots are kinda plain. I have a harlequin with a few Dalmatian spots now, plus this yellow one with a pattern that I can't tell
My dalmatian is crazy! I love him
Same! Mines just settling in and chilling
I’m still planning on getting a baby crested gecko soon. Because I want to experience their coloration and growth from baby to adult
Got my third crestie from a rescue and she popped out two fertile eggs a day later, so this video helped a lot, thank you!
I'm so glad I found this video. I live in Chicago and I've been wandering where to get a crested gecko
I just got a baby gecko last night from my friend who hatched a month before the expected date! Thank you for this video!
Ik this is old but This is so helpful! I’m getting my first crestie in a couple weeks and I’ve got springtails in the enclosure to eat any mould due to the humidity, I’ve got plenty saved for loads of foliage and a good wattaged heat lamp and I’m so so excited. Thank you!!!
please do a reptile room tour or a meet all of my reptiles again! I love your videos
lena witt I just posted a reptile room tour a week ago 💕
Thank you for this video, I am a beginner breeder and I am currently incubating some of my first crestie eggs, this video was very helpful :))
I’m up so early, just saw you uploaded and had to click right away! ♥️ we have two baby cresties and four eggs incubating. This helps so much. Thank you for all that you do.
Arianna Thomas Omg congratulations!!! That’s so exciting!!! And thank you for supporting me 😭🥰😘
Reptilian Garden of course! You are such a inspiring person and I learn a lot from you. I really appreciate you. ♥️
ive gave my baby crestie a 20 gallon tall, but heavily decorated 1 area so he just hangs out there and as he grew up i expanded that area until he grew up
Omg they are so cute! I love baby crested geckos!
Great video! Our first baby hatched yesterday and it is amazing :) Another on the way any day. Thanks for the info!!

i just got two baby crested geckos one is 2 months and one is 3 months and they are in the same tank the tank isnt to big as you said but i just love them so much i got them today!
For me I just got a long cage and put it on it’s side and it’s worked amazing for me!
I love Dalmatians!!! 😍😍 beautiful babies
Thanks Trish your the best!
Best vid I think I’ve seen. Def top 3 on here
Thank you so much a lady at a local petstore made us purchase a HUGE chamillion cage for our baby crestie I knew in my heart it was wrong so we currently have him in a Walmart lil cage like yours. I studied them for a while but I'm very shy and she kept insisting we get it. I said no even my husband told her " were going to keep him in a smaller enclosure for now so he doesn't climb to high and get hurt" but she said "that's horrible! And will be so stressful for him" lol she even said we needed a dome light on the all mesh cage I figured a baby crestie could easily climb to the top and get burned. It's my fault honestly I knew better but was too shy to keep saying no
They’re so cute arghhhhh!!😩😍 my college is giving me one (I do an animal course) and it’s only a few weeks old at the moment.
That’s a gorgeous snake as well aww
I’m subbing 😁😊
Thanks for all your advice!
Im getting mine next week i cant wait omggg!!
Helpful video as always 😊 ur so full of information and knowledge which is amazing 😊 I can’t own them here in Australia but I just love your videos for learning 😊
Alyssa Growden Awww thank you!!! I’m glad you can still get your crestie dose in my videos 😘💕
The new camera makes you look good
I just got 4 baby’s today they’re my first ever crested geckos I’ve had other geckos before tho but I’m excited to raise them up
I kind of preferred your old filming setup. I know it’s like a very small difference but before it was closer up and more straight on instead of looking down. Now I just end up staring at the background 😂
SoapMonkeeyy I didn’t have help setting it up this time so it was off. Lol I’ll fix it better in the next video
I don't care how run of the mill cresties are considered. I absolutely love them. I'm getting my first one, first reptile, in 3hrs or so and I'm so excited. I built an 18x18x24 vivarium, but I'm gonna stop by the store for a small tub and a plastic aquarium plant while I'm out. I'll probably switch into the vivarium after a few days. I'm worried about being able to maintain proper humidity in the plastic container without a hygrometer. The viv turned out pretty dang good, although not perfect, by any means. It isn't as easy as they make it look on youtube lol. If it's your first time, you're probably gonna make a few mistakes. I didn't let the expanding foam on the sides cure quite long enough and it was an unmitigated mess, nor did I wear gloves. The drylok method worked very well though. I enjoy it a lot more than silicone and substrate. I got a cool hide but it's substantially larger than I believed it to be, unfortunately. Idk if it'll see much use, especially since I ended up opting for such a young gecko. It isn't super young, but it was old enough for the breeder to suspect it's a male, and it's gorgeous and a helluva bargain. I didn't want a female because I didn't want to contend with ovulating and eggs. There's a lot you need to learn and prepare for when getting a crestie, even though it's commonly considered to be a starter pet. And building a bioactive vivarium? Ffs, is it EXPENSIVE! I doubt I would've gone through all this at all had I known just how much, over $700, not including the gecko, but it is such a fascinating and fulfilling hobby, building your own ecosystem with microfauna, gorgeous plants and a remarkable reptile.
Great tutorial video, btw.
I JUST GOT A BABY CRESTED GECKO!! I HAVE DONE ALL THE RIGHT STEPS!!
But I got a 12x12x18 tank but in a bit I will start putting him or her next to the water and food. I won’t do it right away so him or her don’t get scared. My crested gecko is doing great in my tank I have been watching it and it has been exploring around! It likes to stay at the top in the corners but it’s getting around the tank now.
Ive had 3 cresties for about 8 years now. They are always producing eggs but I usually just remove them. Obviously one got away from me and as I was cleaning the tank last night I found what I thought was a tail. It was a baby crested gecko.
So now I have to figure out what to do properly lol. I have an enclosure already, so I'm probably good to go for most basics. Just a really unexpected find
Another great video. They are so cute👍👍👍👍👍
I have a 3 inch baby in a 18x18x18 jus got it im so excited
They’re sooooo cute 😍🥰🥰
I have a baby crusted gecko just a little bit bigger but still a baby he seems to love his enclosure and it's a big one People at the pet store told me that he needed it and had everything he needed in it He eats crickets he just ate one recently
today for my birthday i had gotten a crested gecko so i need all the help i can get and this is my first time owning a reptile
Hi! I was just wondering, how long do you keep the crested gecko kids in the smaller terrarium? Until what age?
until about 6 months or 7 months
What size of smaller one
Hey great video & very helpful! I just hatched my very first crestie & am a little nervous. I have mourning geckos too & their hatchlings have a very high chance of dying which is why I'm so worried about that happening to my baby crested gecko. Is their chance of dying once hatched just as low as for an adult or is it different? 🙈
One of mine molted last night.. He/She looks brilliant.
I just got my crestie from Curious Creatures yesterday! Lovely people
Awesome thx I am gonna breed soon keep up the great work
Idk why but my family thought I was dumb for using a soldering iron to put holes in the container I'm using for my baby crestie, so you saying you did the same thing makes me feel strangely validated lmao
I have a harlequin crested gecko hatchling, it’s possibly a she, I have one elevated food ledge I made, should I put more in her enclosure? She is in a somewhat medium size tub.
I have a baby from my other two geckos we did not even see the eggs at all but so far it seems to be so good ( we can’t even see the egg shells)
Also do you need to feed insects to the bay ones ?
Only because my adult ones still don’t like insects we gave them some and they just ignored them
I found it hard to keep the humidity in when mine was on paper towel.
Awesome Vid it was very helpfull :)
Mine somehow randomly laid eggs and they survived and I woke up to two baby’s so thank you!!!!
We just found two eggs from our two adult crested geckos and are very excited. Should we remove eggs from adult cage? Do we need special clay bedding to incubate? Thx for your help. JB
For a smaller crested gecko(I mean a baby but a larger older baby) if it would be okay in a larger enclosure if you put like 2 or 3 food ledges in the enclosure
Logan Oh It’s worth a shot! Just monitor the pooping to be sure they’re eating! That’s a great way to help them find a good source though!
I actually figured out that if you keep the enclosure the same they, my gecko anyway, will remember where everything is. For a week or so I lured with insects to the wet food. After that I did a week of no insects and sure enough he figured it out.
I just had my first baby born this morning. I'd like to know when should I feed him/her, how soon do I mist thier enclosure, anything else I should know about the first few hours or days of it's life. Etc...
Im making a cabinet thats diameters are perfect for cresties and this care guide for general care
How long or how old do keep your baby geckos in a smaller tub on paper towels
What size are the kritter keepers you use for the brand new hatchlings?
just got my first ever gecko.!any tips especially about young ones and feeding?
Pretty sure my female is gravid. Im so excited i cannot wait.
I felt really nervous before this idk why but this helped
I have 3 cats, a rosetail betta, a nerite snail, tons of amano shrimp (5.2g and 10g) I'm highly debating getting a crested gecko tomorrow. I work at Petco so I'm always around them taking care of them. I wanted a beardy but ik I can't commit as much time as they need. But I can easily manage a crested. Tho he or she will def be spoiled🙄😂
I have a baby crested gecko i got a few days ago. Theyre in a really big enclosure (a 2foot sliding door viv) and i feed a powder that you mix with water. Is that okay?
This was so useful! thanks
I’m planning on getting a baby crates gecko but I’m not sure how to setup the enclosure as I live in a VERY HUMID area, do I lower the temperature here and there? I’m not really sure if you could help that would be great!
My son just got a baby crested and we are having a difficult time handling and feeding him. Could you give me any tips on how to do both easier?? He's so small I want to make sure he's eating enough and we don't hurt him handling him
I have a rock with holes and they hide in that i have random plants glued on it but i cant find any vines or bushy plants
Great video kiddo I learned a lot and I was thinking of getting a crested gecko but don't know a good place to find one thanks
Frank Relmar I highly recommend @tikisgeckos 💕🦎
@@reptiliangarden thanks I'll check it out kiddo
I just got a baby gecko and i put it in a 10 gallon terrarium but I don't know if that's too big or too small
i got my baby crestie 4 months ago and hes doing great hes getting used to handling hes out on his branches a lot the first week i had him he jumped out my hand on to my bed climbed down my bed and just sat on the floor until i picked him up im saying he but hes not old enough for me to tell yet i just think its a he lol
I bought a crested gecko at Repticon back in November that was a couple months old so I think it’s about 8 months old now. It seems very skinny, much skinnier than other crested geckos I see about the same size as mine. I feed Pangea. It has lots of foliage to hide in. It is in a 12x12x18 but I always see it utilizing the whole space at night. Should I downgrade to something smaller at 8 months old to see if it will eat more?
My baby crestie is in a 12x12x18 right now and I don’t have a smaller tank to put him in. Is he going to be alright? Or do I absolutely have to make a new one out of a tub? He was born on november 15 I think, so if that gives any information.
what do you recommend for a 6 month old crested gecko, which substrate (coco husk or fiber?) or paper towel? and method to feed it?
it's a tiny one 5 gramme yet
I have 2 babies I keep on paper towels. I also have a 3 year old male that I keep on paper towels as well BUT where I live it's VERY HUMID. So I don't have a problem maintaining humidity. For me it's harder to get it to drop back down through the day so the paper towels help with that since a fiber substrate will hold more humidity. I have to turn my AC down to the lower 70's temperature to get my humidity to drop back down even to like 60%
I got my crestie Draco exactly 3 weeks and 2 days ago (he was born on February 19th of this year) I've waited the recommended amount of time but I'm still nervous to handle him do u have any suggestions/advise on how to grab/handle him without spooking him or hurting him? (I've gently pet him a couple times and he hasn't been bothered by it)
I have a calm crested gecko called nugget and a jumpy one called pumpkin
do you have advice on getting the baby’s to eat i have a 4 month crested gecko and have difficulty feeding them
Can you make a video about how to treat dehydration at home? Someone turned my heat lamp on for my geckos and now they’re dehydrated. I need help on how to rehydrate very young cresties, can you help me???
For a juvenile crested gecko is 8in wide, 8in long, and 11 in tall a good size?
I’m getting my baby crested checking tomorrow and I’m so excited it’s gender is not able to be told yet so it’s name will be weasley and once we find out the gender it will be Ginny if female or Ron if male 😂
Is it normal to see their ribs a bit when they’re young? He’s maybe 2 months and he doesn’t have an appetite for insects but does enjoy Pangea. When he’s fired up they’re fairly easy to see but when he’s fired down, they’re not as apparent.
What age do you start handling the babies to tame them? How old are the babies in each container and what age do you transfer them to say a 12x12x18?
Handling babies should start when they are atleast the size of your palm, or atleast when they are 2-3 months old. I suggest handling them 5 min a day to build trust. Then slowly it should get used to you holding it and feeding it. You can put it in a 12x12x18 when they are 5 months plus+ years old. But all of them grow at different speeds so if they are still pretty tiny at 5 months old I suggest not to.
My crested gecko is not eating the insects?
What should I do?
Its a baby
Them 2 baby's born on 15th got same birthday as me lol
I got my Crested gecko around a month ago. She’s very jumpy still even though she’s a few months old. Do y’all have any tips on how to handle or approach a jumpy gecko. It’s intimidating and I feel like I jump everytime she moves.
Can I keep a smaller gecko in a bigger enclosure if I make sure to feed it daily myself? I'd like to feed it by hand with a popsicle stick so that it gets used to me and associates me with food.
Do you guys know what age or weight would be ok for them to be in something bigger then a plastic container? I have a 3 month old
hi i know you said that its better to haev a smaller tank for a baby crested gecko, but i have sort of a large one and he eats just fine and is super calm. do you think he is alright in there or should i downgrade his enclosure?
if i’m able to make sure that my crested geckos eating, is it ok if i have it in a 20 gallon tank? i already bought it before i got the gecko and i didn’t think it was a problem but now i’m a little worried, but it has a lot of foliage.
So I live in arizona, it’s 80 degrees right now. I am getting a hatching soon should I worry about their temperature
Is there away of telling how old a gecko is we were sold a Crestie the shop was saying about 7 months old but wasn’t sure is there a size to age ratio or rough size to age he’s about 3.5-4 inches
my baby crestie prefers not to jump as much as other crested geckos i’ve handled should that worry me
I’m way late but does it mention how you heat the bins?
Hi, so I recently got another crested gecko and hes a juvenile still. I have no idea what his age is, but hes very small. Its been several days and he has barely moved and has been staying in the back corners of the cage, with his head in the moss. Occasionally Ill find him on the vien but hats it. Ive tried moving up the food closer to where he usually hangs out, but I havent seen ANY signs of eating. Any suggestions?
Any advice on getting a juvenile crested gecko to eat CGD? Mine will eat crickets with no problem. But I have to hand feed her CGD or else she won't touch it.
Shes 10 grams right now so I am guessing she is just a few months old
Ana Lucia sometimes they’re just picky! Just keep hand feeding in the meantime and hopefully your little one will come around 😅💕
Reptilian Garden what about when they just bite you instead of eating the cgd? 😂😂
So i just got my first baby Crested Gecko 2 days ago ... how often should it be pooping?
If you keep it on paper towel, how are plants supposed to live?
So I just got a suprise you have 2 babies in your cage and I've been kinda freaking out cause I really want them to survive. I have 2 and put them in a 12×12×8 should input them in my smaller encloser
Well when I got my crested gecko my one didn't need a "SMALLER" enclosure it is still a baby and it is fine she is 1 year old now
i never see my baby eating pangea....i make extra and put it in the fridge how long does it stay good for the brand of food i have is papaya pangea gecko diet i change the food every 2-3 days
Do you feed the babies every 3 days also? I just got my first crested gecko last week and have been putting pangea in every night. The Facebook group I’m in said babies should eat every night. Am I feeding it too much???
I have a baby crested gecko named scooter and he’s getting used to handling but not knowing I was getting a baby we got a large exo terra tank so we have to hand feed slowly do you think that’s alright?
That’s fine. My baby is in a big one also
Hey I’m from Chiacgo!!
