careless whisper is the improv melody during the transition. they quote the inspector gadget theme in another live performance of this song. LOVE these guys xD
Agreed - these guys are top notch. There are couple of other references in this track too: from 4:04-4:12 Guthrie plays the old Star Trek theme, and at 7:16 there’s a bit of If You Go Down to the Woods Today.
@@PachuauZ Absolutely. Guthrie could easily be referred to as the absolute best "rock/jazz fusion" quitarist in the world. He plays so effortlessly. It's almost like he can play without even trying.
Marco Minnemann the drummer is German and plays alot with Satriani as does Bryan Beller the bassist who is American.Guthrie Govan is English. As a guitarist and big music lover im sure you will enjoy discovering more in your free time, thanks again Stuart
Thanks for the reaction to my choice.Glad you enjoyed it. 3 great musicians, but Guthrie Govan is probably one of the greatest guitarists on the planet and can play anything, but always with feel which i love,He as played with G3 with Satriani and Vai,but never gets the recognition he deserves in the wider public, but he his revered in the guitar world. He is currently the main guitarist for Hans Zimmer which says alot. I think. Im sure you will enjoy listening to any of his playing as he can play in so many styles and he is such a modest nice person. Always enjoy your reactions, thanks again Stuart.
The Aristocrats consists of Guthrie Govan on guitar, Bryan Beller on bass, and Marco Minnemann on drums. All 3 musicians are at the top of their game with their respective instruments. In addition to several live albums they have also 4 studio albums under their name, where for each album each member writes 3 songs for the band. Their live shows are extremely entertaining both in musicianship and technical skills, and none of the songs are played exactly the same compared to the studio version, in the sense that each song has a basic outline that they follow but within there are lots of opportunities for improvisation.
that bit where you said it reminded you of something - it reminded me of something from Joe Satraini's surfing with the alien - I think - memory might be playing tricks though
Really good? I'm minded to think The Aristocrats are the BEST three piece instrumental band out there. You're right, it's good to see musicians having a good time, a lot of jazz and fusion players tend to be a little too serious at times.

That transition at about 8:12 reminds me of the transition in Head for Backstage Pass by Jeff Beck and pals
Guthrie Govan: Your favourite guitarist’s favourite guitarist!
C'mon every guitarist is aware of Guthrie Govan♥️
IMO, any body who calls themselves a guitarist but haven't heard of GG has probally been living under a rock...literally, with no internet access...

for one of the worlds greatest electric guitar players, Guthrie chooses to keep his career very low key
Today you and paul just learned that not everyone knows everyone you know!
Probably the best musicians on their instruments
There was a snatch of the Star Trek theme in there somewhere!

Thanks Stu. I'll be adding this to my Sunday morning jazz selection. I'm getting Joe Satriani vibes all over.
Good to listen to anytime, but Sunday relaxing sounds good
The melody you heard at 6:53 is the sax part from Baker Street.
Star Trek @ 4.09 ?
Teddybears Picnic @ 7.16
Careless Whisper x2 @ 5.45/6.53 ?
This is the best pub quiz ever !
This is quite nice. Thank you.
👍
Nice bud dude! 😀

@@jonathanhenderson9422 as a fellow Jonathan, I wholeheartedly agree

It's George Michael's "careless whisper", the saxo part
Guthrie...one of the best on the planet..and maybe a few others..

Hiromi Trio is probably my favorite instrumental trio, but Aristocrats are probably my #2.
Guitarist unfamiliar with Aristocrats ???? Bizarre ! ... Guthrie is an absolute Monster in any style !!!
