That piece of bread dough that lead Gumby and Pokey into the oven, was crazy...one minute he was over chummy towards them and the next minute he was burning with rage!
Thumbs up from all those who preferred the earlier Gumby (shown here). He was taller and with a higher pitched voice, a bit rougher edged, and who the hell could forget the egg yolk eyes and stringy mouth? The later Gumby was not as fun to watch, he should never have started hanging out with those two nerds, Goo and Prickle.
I still love Gumby and I'm 25. I grew up in the 90's, and I used to watch Gumby on tv every morning on weekends. I also watch Gumby the movie from time to time
The other night i had a nightmare about this gumby... the last time i saw it i was 5ish i decided to look it up today and now i know why this use to scare me to death.
Oh my goodness. Mr. Beal's death made headlines a few days ago. Gumby reflects my most upsetting and disturbing nightmares that have shaped the disturbed weirdo that I am today. Can't say it any other way
I LOVE this old cartoon! Wow,this brings back such great old memories of coming home from school and waiting to watch the good old gumby & pokey cartoons. This was the best one! I bought the VHS collection for my kids when they were little (15 years ago) and it's great to see this. Love it! Thanks!!!!!
3:20 Gumby: "Pokey, he means the machine kneads the dough!" Pokey: "Oh!" ^ If Pokey was confusing it with the word "need," why wouldn't he *still* misunderstand Gumby? Unless Pokey understands the word "kneads" and was just getting it confused with "needs," I suppose. But it still sets up a funny line that could have been used: "But Gumby, what need does the machine have for the dough?"
I also remember Eddie Murphy as Gumby on SNL at a N.Y. Deli bitching that Morey Amsterdam was not a sandwich, Morey Amsterdam was a genius. Classic Funny!
@baxter5431 I saw the same documentary and was surprised to hear about it myself. But then again it was the 60s and people were doing all kinds of crazy stuff.
I always wondered what the pastries got out of this. Maybe they just wanted to give Gumby and Pokey a scare without injuring them seriously. That's how they get their kicks.

Saw a documentary about Art Clokey a few years ago and he admitted to using some drugs back in the late 50's and 60's. Is it ANY wonder as evidenced by some of these Gumby episodes. I think that Clokey was having an "episode" when he conceived a lot of these Gumby stories. *LOL* Gotta love the Gumb-ster!
@69StEpHaNeRd69 do you remember? a couple years ago they had this retro YTV thing where litterally they just took a week from the old days and then re-showed it on tv.... I think they should definately do that again! :) I even miss like old commercials from that time too :(
@SunnyDays951 i laughed hard at your comment, but looking back at my childhood, i was scared of gumby all together and screamed every time he came on. i' still scared of him but trying to get over him. O_e
I scratch my mind. I think about life and shit sometimes when shit's ROUGH.
Not as rough as that oven that shit looks like it’s from 1922
THE NOSTALGIA
Dough monsters in the oven bake Gumby and Pokey.

One of my favorite cartoon ever
I remember this as a three year old and loving Gumby and Pokey and being afraid of the dreaded BLOCKHEADS!

That happened to me once.

Wow after seeing all those Dick Beals Gumby episodes it's so nice to hear my grandpa again.
Yep, this was from the 1957 season when Dallas McKennon first started voicing Gumby.
great explanation of what "needs the dough" means gumby, that cleared it right up
Glad to see another Gumby video added, and from his feshman year, 1956, and with original soundtrack.:)
Bong hits, beer and Gumby reruns. Man those were the days !
Truly the stuff of childhood nightmares!
Funny, I have feeling like this was first episode I have seen before seeing the other episodes of Gumby and friends when I was little.
lol. good times. RIP Art Clokey
Saw this "baking" on a hit of acid once. Tripped hard
Thumbs up from all those who preferred the earlier Gumby (shown here). He was taller and with a higher pitched voice, a bit rougher edged, and who the hell could forget the egg yolk eyes and stringy mouth? I was soooooo scared when I saw this one when I was a kid in the 60s. Just the way the pies moved and kept getting closer.
Ranald Rasmussen This is something parents would show their kids to encourage them to have fruit for dessert instead of pastries. :D
I used to love Gumby... It was such a wholesome show for us 70s kids...
I still love Gumby and I'm 25. I grew up in the 90's, and I used to watch Gumby on tv every morning on weekends. I also watch Gumby the movie from time to time

Oh my goodness. Mr. Beal's death made headlines a few days ago. Gumby reflects my most upsetting and disturbing nightmares that have shaped the disturbed weirdo that I am today. Can't say it any other way

Gumby: "Pokey, he means the machine kneads the dough!"
Pokey: "Oh!"

:) I'm taking this too seriously.
Becca Hawkins I think it was more of an "Oh, I get it (secretly I don't but I don't want to look dumb.)"
He got cherry eyes!
I used to think this episode was really scary when I first saw it in 1990 as a little kid!
Michael Pierce Well, Art Clokey was blasted out of his mind most of the time when he made these episodes.
it was super scary as a kid in the 60s! (it's still a little scary watching it today)
@pixargal007 I just realized I had thsi one on VHS too!
@starwarsfanboy1138 The machine KNEADS the dough. Oooooooooooooh snap.

You churn tha butter, your churn tha butter, you churn tha butter.
I always wondered what the pastries got out of this. Maybe they just wanted to give Gumby and Pokey a scare without injuring them seriously. That's how they get their kicks.
This is the shorter version. The longer version has the scenes with the giant rolling pins and the falling flour.

Anyone who's watching this, type in Ghetto Gumby.. You can see the modernized version of this, its funny.
@Sirchrisirc they play rocko's modern life late now,and they still show ren and stimpy
I understand Art was using a lot drugs by the late 60s, that translated into many of the strange episodes like Gumby on the Moon.
yeah baby just like gumby...fuckin gumby
jelly rolls like my friend
Saw a documentary about Art Clokey a few years ago and he admitted to using some drugs back in the late 50's and 60's. Is it ANY wonder as evidenced by some of these Gumby episodes. @DixieBanjo I think he's a fireman
This doesn't sound like a cartoon that my grandpa voiced, it might be Dick Beals or Ginny Tyler.
Whatchu know about a 4 foot clay horse!
