I'm not sure if the gentleman / engineer you worked with when you were 17 years old is still with us, but I can tell you he will be so proud of you now.
What would really interest me after the Boss sold the Yacht how much he lost or even gained. Maintenance and Crew Salary is a big amount and i wonder if he even was able to make profits or it just almost came to almost no cost for owning and also using such a boat for a few years... that would be an interesting topic. Not sure if it has been discussed but if you ever have the time Tristan.. i am sure a lot would be interested in general how "Profitable is Yacht charter"... thanks for the good video!!
Tristan, you are an amazing person! So down-to-earth and sooo intelligent - your knowledge of the insides of the yacht is incredible. Now I see what a Captain does in the off-season!
Late to the party but found your channel and binge watching. Thank you for imparting your knowledge and feeding the engineer and geek in me in fantastic detail. Love all sea worthy vessels and the ocean and so glad I found this channel.
Finally , I now know what is involved in a 10 year survey. my agent couldn't explain the procedure.I have a 32 metre boat in Thailand and this work is coming up. Maybe not 6 months but I know the boat will be out of commission for a few months. excellent explanations . thank you
Super Yacht Captain thanks Tristan, looking forward to seeing the progress , nice seeing viaregio again 20 years ago I used to work for a guy with a 43 foot sun seeker moored there. Keep up the great work
The Owner is a very lucky person to have someone as diligent as you to take care of their investment, is AWOL still good for how many more years? I used to look at the beautiful boats in Mahon every time I went there, so impressive, beautiful harbour, great history. Really love your videos, well done Sir.
Great video, very interesting to see the refit process and I'm looking forward to see future videos. I understand that a refit of this nature is very expensive and not part of your typical annual maintenance process, but can you estimate how much your charter revenue offsets your typical annual operating budget, 50%, 75%, 100%+? Many thanks, keep them coming!
Very good video. I am looking forward to following the refit process. I realize that the final cost will depend on what is found during the refit, but can you tell us what the original starting budget is?
This is a very informative video. Coming from the aviation world, I was qualified to do dye penitration inspection. We just called it NDT. Non destructive test. Of more concern was the water intrusion in the gell coat yes? What is the fix for that? Thank you. I am looking forward to the next video.
Great video! Nice to know what happens under water too. 6 months you say, what do the crew do during that time? Are they let off, or are they still paid?
Great video! I presume the cost for this work is within the contract and you oversee the various contracts to keep things within the given overall budget? And did I understand you correctly that you have the yacht hauled out every year? Thanks for sharing... It is very enlighting.

What a incredible video very detailed thank you for showing us the amount of work that goes into that yacht

I love how through you are and how attentive you are. It really gives a great peace of mind that you're so involved with the maintenance of the AWOL.

Great video! One can only wonder what 6 months in the shipyard would cost an owner. Yikes!
Thank you so much for the description of the process you are doing. You are great! Continue to post videos like this please
That was Great! CJ
I could watch hours of this stuff.. So interesting :)
Good vlog. Really interesting in seeing how a super yacht is maintained. Not just cruising around the cote d azur

Great video , glad I found your channel, really nice to see the extra work you do and knowledge of the whole boat , not just about driving a boat!

Appreciate the overview on shaft inspection and hull degradation checks.

Great information. Can you give us an idea how much this will cost for 6 months. What do the rest of the crew do? Unemployed or do the help out?
Great video! Nice to know what happens under water too. 6 months you say, what do the crew do during that time? Are they let off, or are they still paid?

Does this happen every year for that boat?
When not doing a 10-year survey, does the ship still spend 6 months in the yard?
Do you live on board while the work is being done? What does something like this repair cost?
what are you doing while the boat is in refit? where are the others of the crew?
Great question, if you continue to watch the videos you will see what all the crew are up too.
What weather conditions do you expect for winter? The tent is only plastic, that would require a enormous amount of heat to prevent freezing.
Viareggio has an average minimum temperature of 3.2 degrees Celsius in January (coldest month).
Don't you get time off when the boat is there?
