Tristan, without a doubt, your channel is by far the best and most informative. You take the time necessary to clearly explain all the areas anyone would be interested in. The idea of sailing a multi-million dollar motor yacht around the world is so fascinating. I have learned so much about the necessity of making sure everything is squared away. I've been a pilot for 40 years and being thorough concerning your craft and mine and keeping both engines and the avionics in tip top shape makes sure we both get back to our family every night. At 75 years old I'm glad I took the time to attend to all items concerning each flight but you too have the same responsibility as well. Congratulations, my friend. Dave in Phoenix, Arizona USA.
You are awesome. I've learned so much about these yachts. Long story short, I live in Abilene, Texas. I'm almost 66 and live way below the poverty level. I make it work! That being said, during this lockdown, it's just me and my dog. No visitors. No hugs. No human contact. What got me through is shopping for a yacht on UA-cam. Now I know I can't buy one but my dreams can't be taken away. You, esysman and others gave me something to focus on. Thank you for all your hard work. Thank you for helping keep this grandmother sane!
Also, I love seeing the engine room and how clean & shiney it is. You commented that all is looking good. I'd say that all is looking Exceeds Exceptional. I would feel safe eating off any of those surfaces, lol.
Agreed, it's really nice. Pretty much one of a kind content, since pretty much no owners would allow it. So we have to keep thanking the awesome owner too. :)
Im sitting in my room right now late at night alone dreaming of owning a nice 70footer anchored away from this world in utter peace! I wish my dream was more attainable! I play tatslotto you never no!!
Great tour around the ship whilst it's at sea and a very interesting insight of a captains job/checklist, details around anchoring, alarms, etc. Would be good to see your daily schedule if you haven't done one already. What age is too late to become a super yacht captain, I'm sure all of us are thinking this never came to mind when picking my GCSE's. Lol.
Thanks for that wee tour. I’m interested in charter yacht work, and as an aircraft engineer I’d be looking in the engineering field so your engine room tour was really informative as to what kind of systems your boat has.
I'm a newcomer and I find this all very interesting. The yacht looks immaculate and I have a great deal of respect for what it is that you do. In past videos you've asked that we vote AWOL as Charter of the Year, which I have to say yet again, how very impressed I am with your yacht. I'm happy to help you out, but honestly I have reservations about the Charter of the Year criteria for choosing winners. If people like me can make a difference I don't see how that sets your vessel apart from others, in the long run.
😂😂😂 'At scholl they used to say to me I would never be paid for looking out the window - Look who's laughing now!' I sincerely hope your teachers have seen this video 😉 You have done EVERYTHING right me lad, carry on!
Just got back from a Med cruise on NCL. I’d give anything to cruise on a super yacht. Would be so much more fun to not be held to a corporate schedule. Especially with Tristan and his crew. 🎉
Great video. Suggest a night cam or headlight for filming the darker areas of the boat. Perhaps a mic near your mouth would pick up your voice better in the engine room or windy areas of filming. And, just in case, I think and feel that your videos are absolutely wonderful!
In a previous episode, you mentioned some safety device that sounded an alarm if there was not movement in the wheelhouse after a fixed period of time. How long is that because you did your safety tour of the boat and it didn't trip the alarm. Thanks for a great Vlog. Alan
I loved your tour, thanks very interesting! I envy you your job, looks very interesting to me. Missed everything you said on the engine room tour, too bad, that's always my favorite place
I don't intend to be mean or snarky, but I expected a walk-through of the boat's galley too -- I mean everything was logical and perfectly drawn out for rounds starting stern, then up / down, then forward checks, bridge checks, engine control and room checks, and back up...but it seems important to walk through the galley, too. I don't own yachts, but have owned land yachts called motor coaches (40-45') and in 2012 a coach caught on fire at night in a service bay at Camper Corral in Madison, MS -- investigators found the cause was the residential refrigerator and an electrical short. It burned the entire place down. Because I was only 3 miles away in my own coach, I was very curious as to the fire and was told it is not uncommon for that to happen where residential units in motor coaches catch fire. That was an eye-brow raise moment! Now that was 6 years ago...so I would assume all that stuff's been straightened out by manufacturer's by now...but it did happen, Google searches will back me up...I'm not here typing to fib or tell stories, when I'm at home I NEVER think about my appliances as hazards in any way...but in my motor home I'm very wary of every single thing as a possible problem, even my washer/dryer. Okay, I've got chatty fingers tonight typing a lot...sorry. Just saying, in the walk-through rounds, it may be best to also include the galley and the crew mess before starting the route all over again...basically, check anyplace where appliances operate.
"No one's going to pay you to look out a window." Laughed so loudly at this that I woke up the cat sleeping on my bed. I do have a question about the previous video, though. The difference in RPMs between engines? Is that a common occurance?
Excellent video! Suggestion: in coming vids, where in the engine room, it might be good to have subtitles while near running engines. I would have loved to hear all that you were saying around the generator but couldn't hear a thing.
My dad just sold his princess 75v which he used to charter and was docked at St Tropez. Has a custom one which we use as a private one until we get our new custom one is being made over 50 meters so it should be quite nice. Have to wait over 3 to 5 years though.
Good luck on the rest of the charter, your guests should have a marvelous time despite the weather (coming from the Pacific Northwest of the United States, I never let rain ruin a vacation).
Our skipper/crew will do the same as you have shown Tristan. Most interesting and educational for me and will know what to look for when we have the 100 delivered.
Two questions. How much does it cost to run a vessel like that on an annual basis? I mean everything including crew wages etc. Second question. Sea water converted to drinking water. Does it have a different taste to normal water once filtered?
*Belated viewing w/ comment* Always very informative keep 'em coming! *Off-topic* Curious did the fire and sinking of the Conception have a measurable impact in the yacht charter, fishing charter industries, and so on? I guess it is on-topic since it deals with safety..........................
Great Video Tristan :) I'm looking forward to following your Charter season. Just out of interest how many crew do you have on board excluding yourself to run this yacht? Cheers and happy sailing.
How do you get enough sound insulation to the quest are not bothered by the noise of the generator running all night long? It just seems so noisy. Keep up the great videos.
@@SuperYachtCaptain Usually you can change in the settings from 50 to 60 hz (and back). When configured correctly, the shutter speed syncs with the AC speed of the lights. When incorrect, you get this 10 Hz flickering in the videos. But: tis works only if the lights are very exactly on 50 (or 60) Hz. I do not know how precise the frequency is maintained in those small generators (small as compared with an on shore power plant :-) ); you will have to test. A flicker of 1-2 Hz will be even worse...

Do you do an orientation with your guests when they first come on board regarding security ie opening porthole, getting up at night and going on deck, etc.
To the Captain, is piracy a problem and about vessel security issues. I was a second on a corp.yacht, with time also Military Sea Lift and Bulk Carriers on Great lakes. Curious about how there matters are addressed. On the Corp.Yacht we only flew American Flag. And smaller Company Ensign. And we were armed.
@Katie Rae I was hit by pirate's during a yacht delivery in the panama canal from North Carolina to Catalina Island,April 88.We were ready. And better shots. We got a nice bonus.
Show us the crew quarters and, something that has been on my mind, how do you get the lines out of the water that you use to tie up the front of the boat when at dock?

With the rpms with twin engines, one prop spins the other way I believe the difference in rpms is to counter the other prop
