They did this for the Transformers movie and everyone expected a throw away tune but no one told LP that and they made this amazing song! And it's not the only one they did for the franchise!

Great to have you back, hope you're feeling fully recovered! ❤
"What I've Done" has some fantastic lyrics. I especially love "Put to rest what you thought of me / While I clean this slate with the hands of uncertainty" and "For what I've done, I start again / And whatever pain may come, today this ends / I'm forgiving what I've done."
Change really is hard, and uncertain, and there's often a loss of control. We often behave the way we do, even if it has consequences to ourselves and others, in ways we find safe and comfortable. It's scary to do things differently, perhaps not knowing the outcomes to the new actions, or just generally letting go of control because it's ultimately harmful maintaining that.
And guilt complicates the whole thing, sometimes even keeping us from acknowledging that change is needed, because that means accepting the associated guilt. From a behavioural standpoint, it makes sense to have guilt -> change in behaviour -> release from guilt, because it reinforces the changed behaviour. It's okay to, even good, to let go of guilt, as long as you don't go demanding forgiveness from others. You can let go of guilt, while still acknowledging and respecting that someone else might have good reason to resent you; that's about them, not you.
I think this song captures a lot of the struggle with change. I tend to hear the lyrics as very individual/personal, despite the visuals of the music video being more of a 'what WE've done" as a society, but it works equally well for that I think, and of course there's also a personal guilt in our collective one.
I'm really looking forward to seeing you react to the next song!

Minutes to midnight is a term used on the "Doomsday clock"... basically how far away are we from doom..
A lot of the songs in this album (Hands Held High especially) is a jab at politicians and the administration. How lies, greed and corruption leads to wars, genocide and profits for the rich... as Mike puts it in Hands Held High: "Like this war's really just a different brand of war
Like it doesn't cater to rich and abandon poor"

This song also served as the lead single from this album, essentially as a bridge from the sound of their first two records to the new direction they were headed, proving to the critics that they were more than the box they were being put in at that time.

Their last album “One More Light” was not very favorably reviewed, but I love every bit of it. People claim it was too “Poppy” but it is amazing. “Heavy” and “One More Light” both bring me to my knees every time I hear them.

A big part of forgiving yourself for a lifetime full of faults is learning to come to terms about being fallible and possible to relapse. You're gonna upset yourself over and over, but simply getting mad about it is counterproductive. You have to be kind to yourself through your guilt and correctional steps. Even if you can never fully recover, it's important to try to heal through love.
I believe being an adult is largely about forgiving others, and sharing the responsibility in correcting and improving together. Eventually, you take responsibility for the faults of kids and subordinates, for companies, and for some, entire communities. Forgiving your friends and neighbors becomes an extension of forgiving yourself.
And if you do forgive yourself, and actually manage to stop your personal cycle of destruction, there's hope for the rest of us, isn't there?

This music video was directed by Joe Hahn. A lot of the Linkin Park music videos were directed by Joe Hahn. In 2012 Joe Hahn had already directed 17 of the Linkin Park music videos.

At the time, the inclusion of 9/11 imagery was very controversial in this video since the wound still very raw for a lot of people. But they put it in there to show the true depth of humanities failures and hope for a world that can be better than the past. We are still searching for that i think

If it is Mike's guitar then what you see might be where Mike painted his own guitar. Mike has been known to paint his guitars for music videos and concerts.
Mike will sometimes get bored and will paint his guitar or one of their road equipment cases. It is just the artist in him.
After Chester broke his right ankle in 2015 Mike painted his crutches black for him about 2 hours before a concert. Mike loves to paint and will paint just about anything his friends ask him to.

Nah, it was clearly bass, so Phoenix. Both he and Brad has been rocking these pre "roadworn" styled instruments.
