It feels like all the singles they released thus far have aimed at highlighting different aspects of Emily's voice, going from grit , through force, to softness.
That's pretty much how her other band Dead Sara is too. They have some songs like Monumental Holiday where she's practically screaming the whole time (song reminds me a lot of Nirvana's Territorial Pissings), then others like Something Good that are more like this one. LP even did this over time too. For all the fierceness of Chester's screams he had one of the sweetest voices. I think Emily is a perfect fit for the band's 2nd chapter.
I never sought out Linkin Park, but I enjoyed their music when I'd hear it on the radio. I can understand why people miss Chester. It's so sad he is gone.
They were one of the "bands I never heard live, but loved" list. I am going to their concert this Sunday in Paris to scream my lungs out. I am so happy they decided to continue making music, and Emily seems like a great fit.
@Smithy350 yeah, the same one. A lot of old school Metallica fans there so Linkin Park didn't stand a chance really. I remember someone threw a bottle of water at the DJ guy and it looked like the water went all over his decks, he looks into the crowd and I'm staring up at him so he blamed me, making gay gestures at me and threw a tennis ball at me and missed.
@@ciaranmcdonald5332 knowing that now...maybe I was lucky for missing out that show 🤣🤣🤣🤣 What about The Darkness? By then I found that Metallica and The Darkness were my two favourite bands🤘🤘🤘🤘
I wish the best them. They’re called linkin park, not the chester bennington band, its time to move forward they have all give it enough time, as far as benningtons son concerned, it has nothing to do with him.
Actually Linkin Park has always been a pretty diverse and challenging Band. After Meteora they realy went in all direction with "minutes to midnight" as an alt rock album, with "a thousand suns" an experimental electro album, that totally scraps every exception you can have as a writer, "living things" as an very e-rock album, "hunting party" an almost garagy album and "one more light" as an pop album. Honestly Linkin Park are in my regards on the same level to me as the beatles in terms of influence for me. I mean without Mike Shinoda's videos of his production streams, I wouldn't produce as good as I do. That man is a sound design genius...
It's a really hot take, but I have no problem with your comparison of Linkin Park to The Beatles. We're talking about bands that (a) found massive commercial success with mainstream audiences, whilst also (b) maintaining a freedom to evolve, invent, pioneer, and make something you haven't heard before. Many bands can do (a) OR (b), but to do BOTH is something special.
The Beatles?!? Really?!? That is not a flattering comparison for LP. Even if you severely limit it only to influence it’s still not even a comparison. The Beatles influence generation after generation of musicians, LP had massive influence over one generation. If you look at composition, melodic complexity and novel chord progressions it’s even worse. The Beatles still hold the record for the most number one hits, LP had none (unless you look to the alt charts). I like some songs from both bands and I’m a fanboy of neither but there is no comparison. I’d like to say my favourite bands compare favourably to the Beatles too… but I won’t because no band does.
@@mbg4041 I feel like you might have misread the intent of my comment. I didn't say I was comparing them on "influence" nor on "composition, melodic complexity and novel chord progressions". I said I was comparing them based on both bands being rare examples of bands that achieved enduring mainstream commercial success, whilst also hanging on to their freedom to innovate and pioneer new sounds.
Linkin Park have continuously changed their sound with every album. It was very subtle at first from Hybrid Theory to Meteora but after that each project was starkly different and experemental. Mike didn't even start singing on any tracks until their third or forth album, only playing keyboard, guitar, rapping, producing, mixing, and writting most of the songs.
"Only" doing all those things lol. I know you don't mean it like they're nothing, it just made me smile reading it, like anyone can just play keyboard and guitar, rap, produce, mix and write most songs. Man is talented!
@@slomo3035 , Why wouldn’t I check it out? I like most of their older albums. There are probably songs on their new album that I might like. This one has a country pop feel, which I don’t like.
Linkin Park are one of my all time favourite bands & I’m so happy to see them back with Emily being a worthy new member. I do personally prefer the 2 songs already released (check them out) but this song is a grower. I saw Mike Shinoda on a solo tour after Chester’s passing & it was the 1st time I’ve experienced fans all coming together to celebrate the bands music with his passing. Can’t wait to see what’s next from them. Much love x
Yeah, it's great. This band had a frontman that was a victim of sexual assault and committed suicide because of those demons and now it has a frontwoman that fully supports a sexual predator and is a member of a cult. What a great band to be a fan of...
I love your point about how you’d want someone to replace you if you died. I like this. I’d imagine Chester would want himself replaced by a new singer, especially considering the circumstances of his death. He wouldn’t want Mike to stop making music just because he’s gone. Without Kurt’s death, we wouldn’t have Foo Fighters. Without Bon’s death, we wouldn’t have Back in Black, and without Chester’s death, we wouldn’t have From Zero.
@@LynneConnolly I don't think her religion "doesn't believe in mental health" They don't believe psychiatry is effective for mental health and believe it has more negative effects. That's based on the medications they prescribe, drugs, electro, lobo etc. Not saying I agree with them by any means as I am definitely not religious. But to say they don't believe in mental health is almost true but not.
Love the comment you snapped off about how the other members have an obligation to carry on playing the songs they contributed to. That really is the long and short of it, and I'm so happy for Linkin Park that they can finally resume the course of their lives and careers. The aggressive arguments circulating online that it's "Not Linkin Park anymore" or that they're somehow hurting Chester's legacy.. it's such a wash man.
Anyone who thinks a new musician in a band is supposed to replace a previous member, is nuts. Emily is a wonderful singer, I was obsessed with Dead Sara's debut album partially because of Emily's voice. No one could ever replace Chester, not just because of the longevity of him being the front man of l in loo park but because he has such a unique voice and energy.
Also , my siblings in satan, like chesters material still exists. They didint remove all of the album , they added new stuff. So what erasure are they talking about?
I have never been a LP fan over the years. Just not for me. But I am a big Dead Sara fan. I really enjoy these new songs they put out with her. I think her voice fits their sound great. A band has a right to move forward without an original frontman if they wish. They sure aren’t the first.
Linkin Park have already navigated most genres of pop and metal. only thing thing that makes this knew is the modern mix and the new vocalist, that doesnt mean its bad, i love their sound and happy to have more of it.
To get a bloke replacement , you could say they've replaced the original like nothing happened. To have a woman singer replacement, draws a line and says we're this now. Good luck to them.
Its a really smart choice. She brings a similar energy that can carry the old material, but its different enough that it doesn't come across as imitation, and allows them to make fresh music. A gamble that looks like it will pay off big time for them.
probably it should be noted that this song should be seen in the context of the album. The nest song on that is called "Casualty" and should be also their most heavy song. It is rumored that those 2 should be somewhat tied
from the very start, Linkin Park has played with their sound and changed things up, and each album has it's own theme, whether it is mental health, life/death, politically charged etc, they were also the beginning of alternative rock :) over all, their music tends to be very relatable to people around the struggles of the world
I've mainly listened to LP when i was in my early to mid teens and only dabbled beyond "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora". From what i've heard from the later material, the sound's not too far off. While it's good, the first two albums just have a very special spot for many people around my age ('93 build).
A perfect example of "how can this band go on" after the death of the great Bon Scott of which you mentioned but, sometimes it can revitalize a band. Sometimes some want to stay in one camp or the other but, it can also join the two camps.
Your one-dimensional image of Linkin Park is their first album, Hybrid Theory. It was a production style and aesthetic so clear that Mike Shinoda just did it over on their second album, Meteora. They have been deviating ever since, with tracks that are more fully melodic, or more fully hiphop, without the early 2000s rap-rock formula.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who heard the country thing. The thing is it’s really not a departure, at all. This could very easily fit in on One More Light or Minutes to Midnight.
I met Emily Armstrong a few years ago at a show her other band did in Detroit that some people in the unofficial fan club got me to. It was in a real basement bar type of venue and I was at the front of the stage. Her voice IS like that and she was really chill and nice both times we talked (once during the soundcheck and again after the gig was over and everybody but the über fans cleared out). At the soundcheck hang I showed her a pendant of the logo the band had during their first album and she was impressed. Her bandmates were thrilled. When everyone cleared out and I was able to get an another selfie with her, she had to duck down because I’m short and her boots added on like a foot. That was really genuine. I was really concerned Linkin Park was continuing but absolutely thrilled Emily was who they picked but as a Dead Sara fan a mild bit embittered because that band never REALLY got its chance. I’m glad I got to see them when I did when they had their original lineup in that basement. I’d like to meet Emily again and congratulate her.

There are songs from Minutes to Midnight, Thousand Suns, Living Things, Hunting Party, and OML that share at least some aspects with this new song. Mike has said in interviews that most of the songs on the new album pull a little inspiration from each era of their previous work with new ideas and insight added to the mix. Then you throw in Colin who is a well respected and accomplished producer and writer who brings a whole new bag of influence. And finally, you add Emily who in my opinion, is one of the most raw and emotional vocalists ever, see her Dead Sara discography, the dynamics change a little more. I really think this new album coming on Nov 15 will be massive. When asked their favorite songs on the album, Colin and Emily both replied with 3 songs we have not heard yet.
Do you know which 3 unreleased songs on the album they said? I'm looking forward to "Cut the Bridge" "Causality" and "Overflow" I just have a feeling these ones (out of the remaining unreleased songs on From Zero) will be a few of the best on the album.
@@MercuryAndMetals Pretty sure "Casualty" and "Overflow" were mentioned by both. I don't remember for sure on the other. You can try to find the video, its from their interview in Korea. I think Colin mentioned them in his Instagram Live about a month ago.
Gotta admire a band that wants to keep on going no matter what. People who think the band should pack it in are missing the point of being in a band. Deep Purple is not using their first singer and have had a great career.
I'm not a Linkin Park. Never was interested in them. I couldn't figure out why folks got them. I had a fan tell me how much he liked the two new songs, and how surprised he was. So, his enthusiasm grabbed me. I listened. I really really enjoyed the new songs. I'm looking forward to hearing the new album. I've seen many folks like me who are interested.
A frontman's replacement always brings controversy. It happened when Queen chosed Adam Lambert, they received critics from some fans. In Spain there is the story of a rock band, from latest 70s, their name is Triana. The frontman died in a car crash, and one of them (they were 3) wanted to follow with the band looking for another frontman, and the other one didn't want. So the one who wanted decided to follow by his own, and looked for new members. They ended up in a trial, and the judge said that he could go on using the band's name because he was a founder member. I think that the only one who could replace you in JHRA is The Hoff 😂
As others have already said, LP changed their sound with every successive album. only slightly to begin with, but they were constantly experimenting. The loss of Chester was a hammerblow that I never expected them to recover from as a band. I expected Mike Shinoda & Joe Hahn to continue on with other projects and draw a line under Linkin Park. But now, they're back. Emily Armstrong is an absolute powerhouse performer who can belt out the back catalogue with gusto, whilst still being versatile enough to surprise with tracks like this. I'm surprised that the fanbase seems so divided over Emily; it seems she has links to Scientology which has annoyed/disturbed some people... But so what? She's a great vocalist, I like what I've heard so far and I'm happy that the Linkin Park journey continues.
They sound great, and Emily is a very good fit for the band. It's too bad about the extra-curricular things I'm hearing about that have nothing to do with the music.
@@T_K_W She's in a cult and she supported a serial rapist. Those two things are facts. That being said, I can separate the artist from the art. I don't live my life in black and white only and that's the last I have to say.
You have got a bit of a one dimensional view of older linkin park yeah, they definetly shifted their sound a couple times. Id reccomend listening to the other 2 songs with emily, shes hit all marks i think when it comes to the styles linkin park has done previously
Looking forward to David Hasselhof rides again. Not especially familiar w/ the back catalog of LP, except the early and late singles; but bought the EP Chester did w/ STP when Scott Weiland left the band, and was aware of Chester's friendship w/ Chris Cornell. Every situation is different when a band loses a member, but it's true than no-one can be replaced; regardless of the extent of the involvement in a band's output. If I heard this randomly I would never have associated it w/ LP. I think Chester had a very recognizable voice. I personally find it hard to listen to music with vocalists who took themselves out while young; if nothing else, the story of LP won't end w/ avoidable loss.
If you listen to Friendly Fire (great song) which they released months ago, the message and style are similar, fighting with loved ones, but this one is a prelude to the next track on the new album, Casualty.
I had to close my eyes to listen to this song at first. Twenty years ago I crawled out of an 80 mph rollover that flipped five and half times then slid on the roof. I thought I was over the experience... But I guess with the added emotions of Emily and the loss of Chester. This hit really fucking hard.
The fact that Emily has a good rasp, aside from the range, it makes a lot of sense. Then again I absolutely understand the critisism from Chesters son that Emily has at some point been connected to scientology which is so staunchly against seeking healthcare for mental health.
LP have such a radically diverse discography, I don't think it's a stretch to refer to them as a Progressive band (Especially looking at albums like "A Thousand Suns"). The 'nu-metal' sound is something they basically left behind 2 decades ago.
I remember Emily Armstrong from a previous band she was in called Dead Sara. The debut was good, it had a few stand out songs. The song Weatherman blew me away when I first saw a live video of it. Definitely worth checking out.
lucky enough to see them at the O2 recently they were awesome Emily total package Chester's passing was very sad but why should the rest of the band not continue? Maybe the Bennington families concern is more monetary based as they won't be getting a share of the royalties when this album inevitably goes stratospheric LP selling out stadiums already again as the legend that is Biff Byford said the Band plays on ..🤘
Well only people from Bennington family that had problem with that was his son and mother. The thing is that his son is pain in the arse to anyone - his own mother have distanced from him, and his mother... well we kinda know little bit of what was Chesters childhood was. So those two just neded their two minutes of fame for last time. Their words are really not worth of listen. On the other hand Chester's widow wife was among the people that was sharing that famous/infamous countdown from begining and among first that congratulated Emily (she send some heart emogies under some of Emily's instagram posts). So it is safe to say she knew what is going on and she was OK with it.
@@zdenekdolezal9646 His son mainly has problems with Emily because she's in a cult and fully supported Danny Masterson in court who was convicted to life in prison for the rape of several women. Can't really blame him, considering his dad was a sexual assault victim himself.

When the lead singer from my favorite band died I was in shock just like all Linkin Park fans. I found it hard to see the band continuing without Chester but seven years later I'm open to see what Emily can bring to the band. Loved the first single , the other two not so much.
I dont think she cuts it live especially, she struggles to match Chester, that coupled with the controversy makes her an odd choice. Also just comparing to the many female rock/metal vocalists in the scene today, she really isn’t one of the best or bringing anything that’s new or inspired to the band
Hey, I'm still not over Bon Scott, so... I would miss the HELL out of you! But... I do agree with you. Why couldn't The Darkness, or any other band, go on if they wanted to? My personal sentimentality should not dictate such decisions.

I loved the original lineup, but I also love Emily taking the vocalist helm now and I think she's doing a great job. Wherever you go, haters are gonna hate and moaners are gonna moan, because it's what they're happiest doing. It's not disrespecting Chester's memory, it's just diverging off the original path a bit.
This was an interesting choice for Justin to jump in on new linkin park. I get it, it’s the newest one. But a better start for him for their new era is the emptiness machine or heavy is the crown
Glad you're finally covering this. Hybrid Theory, their first album, was the first CD i ever bought. You should have a look at the first two songs of the new LP iteration - they're much more familiar to early LP.
Thank you for the incredible video! It was really fun to watch as a long-time Linkin Park fan and seeing how the song caught you by surprise, just like the band intended. Since you were hoping to hear from people why that might've happened, I'll try my best to offer you a TLDR version of the band's musical style history: 1) The soundscape that most people associate Linkin Park with goes back to their breakout era of their first two studio albums, Hybrid Theory and Meteora (rap-rock, nu metal, or whatever variant of categorizing people prefer to use) 2) When creating their 3rd album, Minutes to Midnight, Linkin Park wanted to step away from the angsty-teenager-sound and come up with something more mature and classical alternative rock. It was at this point when their fanbase started to divide, since many people wanted them keep doing what they were doing, while others celebrated their ability to evolve in terms of musicality. 3) Their 4th album, A Thousand Suns, was a concept album, intended to be listened from beginning to the end, instead of as a collection of individual tracks. This point in time pushed the fanbase even harder into two segments, as the new album introduced yet more elements into the mix, such as EDM. It was the first time I remember hearing Linkin Park being played in nightclubs and raves. 4) With their 5th and 6th albums, Living Things and The Hunting Party, they took subtle steps back closer to their roots, sounding closer to what was universally loved by the entire fanbase, while still remaining experimental with their sounds and style and occasionally going even harder (or more "metal") than ever, so it didn't completely sound like "the old Linkin Park", but close enough to strip the haters of some ammo. 5) With their 7th album, One More Light, they went back to "you know what, we're gonna do what we wanna do, and it's up to you guys if you like it or not" mode, which was a combination of dark lyrics with very light and gentle sounds, almost to a pop-level. This caused the biggest backslash in the fanbase who said the band has gone soft and they're done. 6) Few years later the lead singer took his life and the band went onto hiatus for 7 years. 7) Now they're back with a new lead singer and drummer, they are mentally in a very relaxed place, and they essentially reinventing the band without forgetting where it came from. As always, the fanbase remains divided as ever, with one side being obnoxiously toxic and the other side embracing everything they do. Very dramatic but I'm here for all of it! Anyways, thanks again for a great video, and I'd love to see you cover more of Linkin Park in the future!
Justin, the song you're referring to is Lone stars "amazed". Am loving the new album. Its an eclectic mix of spunds but all still has that trademark Linkin Park vibe. Especially lpvong "good things go" and "two faced"
Queue Stone Temple Pilot fans and when Chester was lead singer for them for a period of time. Agree with Justin here, it’s a new chapter continuing on the music of an iconic band
You should have reacted to one of the other two songs they’ve released since the reformation because this track is by far the least “Linkin park” sounding track out of the three But I agree they made the right choice by moving on with a new vocalist It’s been 7 years since chesters passing, they did an awesome memorial concert with a ton of guests back in 2017. Mike shinoda (co-lead vocalist and pretty much the mastermind behind linkin park) put out a solo record called “post-traumatic” that dealed heavily with the loss of Chester, he did a world tour with it so he could share the music with the fans and mourn together. They’ve put out awesome 20 year anniversary editions of their first two records with a ton of awesome content like DVD’s with live concerts, bunch of demo’s and previously unreleased songs, vinyls, cd’s, pictures, posters, stickers, artwork etc. Earlier this year they’ve put out a greatest hits compilation with some previously unreleased tracks included They did all of this over a 7 year period before reforming with the current line-up. They did a wonderful job honoring Chester and keeping his legacy alive. We’re now ready to move on, emily is a very capable singer, new album is on the way, and they’re going to be touring a lot next year. I’m 100% here for it. I’m happy for the fans to finally have a chance to see linkin park play live again Even though it will never be the same without Chester, the songs he sang on will forever be part of music history. After having watched every live show they’ve done since september 5th and watching live performances of dead Sara and listening to a bunch of dead Sara music I’m now 100% convinced Emily has what it takes Nobody can replace Chester so I’m glad they went with a girl who can do her own thing instead of some dude doing a Chester immitation That’s what tribute bands are for
Bang on. I'd love to see you react to the other 2 songs they released before this one, "The Emptiness Machine" and "Heavy is the Crown." Those are more uptempo. I like all 3. Can't wait to hear the album. Emily is a perfect fit. Love her voice. And don't worry, most reactors only have the first 2 albums, if that much, that they reference as the classic Linkin Park sound because that's all they know. Linkin Park has 6 or 7 albums with Chester but people only compare the new stuff to the first 2 albums, "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora" lol. But Linkin Park is no stranger to changing their sound with every other people. When you listen to the second single, "Heavy is the Crown," you'll hear the "classic" LP sound you were thinking of. It's a heavier song with Mike doing his thing, spitting bars. Oh, just to put the video into perspective, the video is a kind of Sixth Sense thing, where Emily is actually the one who died and when you look at the video again, none of the firefighters or medical personnel actually interact with her character).
Starting with their third album, LP started introducing rock ballads like this one. If you don’t really listen to them, you probably only know them through their most popular songs from their first 2 albums. Those songs were very heavy and angsty with a lot of harsh vocals and screams. The final album with Chester was pretty much straight pop rock with some heavy stuff. So completely understandable why you would think this was a different sound for them.
Hey Justin! Always love your reviews. I wondered if you'd check out the band TesseracT. The song 'Legion' is incredible - particularly from a vocal perspective! I'm sure you'd appreciate. Cheers, Tommy.
They done tons of 'slow' songs - the band was trending in that direction before Chester left us. Stand outs for me are: My December; Shadow of the day.
Life is about changing and growing. I’m sure it has to be the same about bands. On this topic, cheers for Emily, but I did like her in Dead Sara much much more.
The "It just keeps getting better line" you likened to Bryan Adams. I believe is from the song "Amazed" by Lonestar if I'm not mistaken. Looking forward to seeing you in Newcastle again next year 🤘🏼
I saw LP with Emily in LA and while my sons loved it, I'm still on the fence! I don't want to jump on the she's great or she's not great band wagon. I'll wait to hear the album!!
Linkin Park always had a distinct sound album to album but Chester's pain always showed in some way. This song sounds most like the old Linkin Park in my opinion. Its definitely not a bad thing but im really excited to hear the new topics that will get covered with Emily's voice and perspective. Super excited for the new album.
At the end of the day, touring acts of that size make millions of dollars per year from touring, and have lifestyles that are adapted to that income. They have 10s of people that rely on their touring for a living, and frankly, if they can still get bums on seats, then crack on, folks!
They have about 100 people on their tour stage team alone. There is a 4 or 5 minute video somewhere dedicated to this team and what all goes into setting up the giant stage and massive projector screens contraption but I can't find it right now.
Regardless of who theyve chosen as a singer, I think Mike should pick more up more of Chester's vocal parts for the old songs. He did really well singing the verses of Points of Authority and Leave Out All The Rest.
Chester made the decision to not be here anymore....the BAND made a decision to carry on ..respect both parties

@@mbg4041 oh, after having written my reply, I realise you might have been responding to the other person! Ignore if so!

Imagine trying to take over from someone who'd shat themselves inside out, one could never live up to such Spinal Tap-esque notoriety.

LP reinvented themselves for pretty much every album cycle, so yeah, if you don't follow them it can be hard to get a grasp on what they are about.
They always sounded like Linkin Park, though. This sounds like chick pop.

@@slomo3035 ,
Why wouldn’t I check it out? I like most of their older albums. There are probably songs on their new album that I might like. This one has a country pop feel, which I don’t like.
Never been a fan, but I wish them luck. I agree, the other guys, and new singer, deserve to go on if they want.
I was never really interested in LP previously, but I love Emily's voice. I've been watching her on repeat. Such a great vocal talent.
If you haven’t already, check out Dead Sara! Amazing.
I wish we didn't have the Foo Fighters , they suck.
but not her. With her religion, one that doesn't believe in mental health, it's not respectful to his memory.
He damn sure wouldn't want them to continue with rapist supporting, mental health denying, cult member.
Every day is the right day for a shirt like that.
It's very snazzy, indeed 🙂 Rhinestones is so you!
So what erasure are they talking about?
you , mister hawkins should be the frontman of Queen , just perfect
Why/how? 2024 Queen uses AI and pitch “correction”. Improvements are not expected, since Sony owns the catalogue now. 😢
I love original line up and will never forget Chester, but emily is smashing the new stuff. Its definitely an album im looking forward to getting.
Choosing to depict your new singer dying in a video where she's only two songs in from replacing your previous (dead) singer is a bold choice, innit?
probably it should be noted that this song should be seen in the context of the album. The nest song on that is called "Casualty" and should be also their most heavy song. It is rumored that those 2 should be somewhat tied
from the very start, Linkin Park has played with their sound and changed things up, and each album has it's own theme, whether it is mental health, life/death, politically charged etc, they were also the beginning of alternative rock :) over all, their music tends to be very relatable to people around the struggles of the world
people are free to feel whatever and however they want about it - but i, for one, am looking forward to new music from them
I've mainly listened to LP when i was in my early to mid teens and only dabbled beyond "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora". From what i've heard from the later material, the sound's not too far off.
While it's good, the first two albums just have a very special spot for many people around my age ('93 build).
Heavy is the crown is just straight up Numb 2.0 could have fit on meteora nicely.
lol why did I laugh at his pause and then "...well thats just devastating.."
Aw what I would pay to see David Dickinson Rides again.. that mahogany toned stud muffin!! Time for a collab Mr H??
They have given the floor to Emily with this song which is awesome, she’s killing it with the new stuff as much as she is with the old songs 🫶
GMF is one of the GMFing songs off that John Grant album. That and Glacier. ❤
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who heard the country thing. The thing is it’s really not a departure, at all. This could very easily fit in on One More Light or Minutes to Midnight.
Meteora
You can hear the country/Avril-like
Maybe that’s why it didn’t thrill me. I still think they used pitch adjustment on the lead vocals, which I can’t stand.
First 3 singles been great and better than I expected.

LP were fantastic, and this new album is sounding great so far with the new singer. They had to go female, and they made a great choice.
Highly recommend going through Linkin Park's catalogue. They went through quite a few different phases.
We need more Men at Work music videos

The "just keeps getting better" song you are trying to remember is Lonestar -Amazed.❤😊

A John Grant - GMF and Lonestar - Amazed reference in one video, amazing 😊
I'm really excited to hear the whole album, I never expected to come back so strong as they have
They sound great, and Emily is a very good fit for the band. It's too bad about the extra-curricular things I'm hearing about that have nothing to do with the music.
The "extra curicular" stuff is tenuous tbh. Hardly any hard evidence of anything. Lots of he said she said.
@@T_K_W She's in a cult and she supported a serial rapist. Those two things are facts. That being said, I can separate the artist from the art. I don't live my life in black and white only and that's the last I have to say.
I LOVE the shirt!!!!
You have got a bit of a one dimensional view of older linkin park yeah, they definetly shifted their sound a couple times. Id reccomend listening to the other 2 songs with emily, shes hit all marks i think when it comes to the styles linkin park has done previously
Better than I expected that's for sure.
Man I’m here for Justin figuring out and explaining the chord progression to us.
The other 2 singles they dropped are great, maybe you could check them out as well
Emptiness Machine is awesome!
That shirt's a keeper. Suits you well.
Beautiful shirt!!!!
Justin = Rhinestone Goth! 😁
LP have such a radically diverse discography, I don't think it's a stretch to refer to them as a Progressive band (Especially looking at albums like "A Thousand Suns"). The 'nu-metal' sound is something they basically left behind 2 decades ago.
Just discovered JHRA....I am utterly overjoyed to see Justin doing well. 🎉
I remember Emily Armstrong from a previous band she was in called Dead Sara. The debut was good, it had a few stand out songs. The song Weatherman blew me away when I first saw a live video of it. Definitely worth checking out.
Heaven by Bryan Adams. That Canadian nexus of rock, pop, and country is exactly what this song is pulling at.
lucky enough to see them at the O2 recently they were awesome Emily total package Chester's passing was very sad but why should the rest of the band not continue?

Got to say Emily has done a great job and they couldn't of chosen better.
Hey, I'm still not over Bon Scott, so... I would miss the HELL out of you! But... I do agree with you. Why couldn't The Darkness, or any other band, go on if they wanted to? My personal sentimentality should not dictate such decisions.

Since you were hoping to hear from people why that might've happened, I'll try my best to offer you a TLDR version of the band's musical style history:
1) The soundscape that most people associate Linkin Park with goes back to their breakout era of their first two studio albums, Hybrid Theory and Meteora (rap-rock, nu metal, or whatever variant of categorizing people prefer to use)
2) When creating their 3rd album, Minutes to Midnight, Linkin Park wanted to step away from the angsty-teenager-sound and come up with something more mature and classical alternative rock.
You should have reacted to one of the other two songs they’ve released since the reformation because this track is by far the least “Linkin park” sounding track out of the three
But I agree they made the right choice by moving on with a new vocalist
It’s been 7 years since chesters passing, they did an awesome memorial concert with a ton of guests back in 2017.
Earlier this year they’ve put out a greatest hits compilation with some previously unreleased tracks included
They did all of this over a 7 year period before reforming with the current line-up.
They did a wonderful job honoring Chester and keeping his legacy alive.
We’re now ready to move on, emily is a very capable singer, new album is on the way, and they’re going to be touring a lot next year. I’m 100% here for it.
I’m happy for the fans to finally have a chance to see linkin park play live again
Even though it will never be the same without Chester, the songs he sang on will forever be part of music history.
After having watched every live show they’ve done since september 5th and watching live performances of dead Sara and listening to a bunch of dead Sara music I’m now 100% convinced Emily has what it takes
Nobody can replace Chester so I’m glad they went with a girl who can do her own thing instead of some dude doing a Chester immitation
That’s what tribute bands are for
Cheers,

They done tons of 'slow' songs - the band was trending in that direction before Chester left us. Stand outs for me are: My December; Shadow of the day.
I got some distinct country vibes, too!
I didn't comment until the video was done. Just wanted you to know I obliged.

Life is about changing and growing. I’m sure it has to be the same about bands. On this topic, cheers for Emily, but I did like her in Dead Sara much much more.
The Wet Wet Wet video you described could equally apply to the video for Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter, to be fair. Its very simple, on a beach...
The "It just keeps getting better line" you likened to Bryan Adams. I believe is from the song "Amazed" by Lonestar if I'm not mistaken. Looking forward to seeing you in Newcastle again next year 🤘🏼
If you died, I would honestly cry…..😢
