Yup, it was highly inconsiderate to not rewind before returning the tape. VHS tapes look so much cooler as collectibles as opposed to boring, sterile DVD cases.

Then there was a fire pit where everyone would act out everything that happened on a UA-cam video with shadow puppets while everyone circled around. But the most bizarre and mysterious part of all: When people got landlines/cell-phones, they actually used the PHONES to TALK to people!!! Who’da thought??!!

I loved Ellen Cleghorn. I remember she was in the audience of this talk show skit and she gets up and says "if that was my child I'd pull them out of school so fast their head would spin" which had nothing to do with the show and the host of the fake talk show (I forget who) says, "ma'am, what the heck are you talking about" made me laugh so hard just the way she said it.

I walked inside a Hollywood video that was closing down, they were selling off everything posters shelving computers videos, they had both HD DVD Blu-ray. It was bizarre, it was like watching the ending of an era. Parents would bring you in, only word of mouth, and the back of the case to judge whether it was worth 90 minutes of your families time together. Some were winners some were losers. But for 90 minutes every other Saturday, family would sit around and watch the tube television load up a VHS tape of some movie which you had no idea what it was going to be about. What a wonderful time.
1986-93 was the best SNL period; top comics, writing, didn't need to crack up every other minute to goose the material for the audience. Just the best.
If you didn't know: In the olden times, people used to walk to a store to rent physical copies of movies. Also, they were on tape, and thus had to be rewound when used (therefore the "Be Kind Rewind" t-shirt). They also had to walk back and deliver the physical copy back after a set amount of time. Good times.
