Norm's delivery of the line "Oooh no, that's not good!" had me in stitches!
best line ever ..flawless delivery
Never. Gets. Old. (As, after a rough day, I come here once again to watch and laugh once again :). Be well everyone.
@@GreenRiver72 Nice. Same with me.
You take care. 🤞🙂
You know that feeling when you realize you’ve got a storm of butterflies in you’re stomach and you’re going to go completely helpless with laughter? That tipping point? Yep, it’s that line for me.
Same. Funniest part of the sketch I think.
3:49 "Oh no, that's not good." Norm just kills me in this.
That one gets me everytime too!
Me too! 🤣🤣🤣
It really is brilliant because if a regular person was dropped into a musical it would be their reaction.
I wouldn’t say it was only funny cuz of norm cuz will Ferrell is never not funny and Chris Kattan funny n this too but I love norm I saw a list (made by who I don’t know) listing norm verrry low on best 150 Saturday night live players they totally dissed him sayin he wasn’t funny which is bullshit check out the roast he did where he uses his fathers old jokes on Comedy Central he’s one of those people just his expressions make u laugh too besides this list I saw didn’t even list some of the great newer people like Aidy she didn’t even make ANY of the 150:( - or Beck or Kyle!!!!!! John Belushi made number one to b expected
He was the main reason because Norm wasn't in on it.
This is a terribly underrated sketch, should be considered an all time great.
I don't think there's an official rating for sketches, but this is an all-time great (imo).
It really is. I laugh so hard after that first song when he just goes back to the dice game and says "okay so anyway..."
JammastaJ23 Some website made a list of the top 50 sketches ever and this got in so...
This is the first time I've seen this, and I am totally amazed.
It is one of my favorites.
RIP Norm Macdonald. Looks like the Panthers finally got him.
If only the Cobras hadn't stopped to sing while Norm was getting stabbed in the head by a Puerto Rican.
Cancer not panther lol
It was a draw
Meow.
@@seanglennon4012 Omg This comment's so funny & tragic at the same time. The Cancers are the worst. No gang will ever beat them. I've seen cancer push someone close to me to the edge of death. If only Norm recorded a routine about him dying of it. It would've been a fitting send off for one of the greatest comedians of all time.
Norm, Thank You for all the laughter you gave us. You were a Gift. The world is poorer with your passing. But you will live on in all these videos. Because Love and Laughter only dies when people let it. RIP Norm Macdonald. You will Always be The MAN.
TRUTH. From The Cheap Bastards.
I love how the whole joke premise is established when Norm says, "what the hell was that?"
"What the hell was that" is a phrase that always makes me laugh when used by others. Proof that the straight man can be just as funny, if not funnier, than the funny man
That wasn’t nearly gay enough.
I said the exact same thing at the exact same time while watching it for the first time by myself, had we been in person I would’ve called jinx
@@aristotleasparaguspodcast1129
I actually use that phrase constantly. Enough that if I were a sitcom character, it would probably be my catchphrase.
@@aristotleasparaguspodcast1129 what the hell is even that?
When norm said “oooh nooo that’s not good” completely lost it
That's even worst news!
I also liked "How about, when you were busy dancing, I got stabbed by a Puerto Rican!"
Yeah, same here, I spit out the cereal I was eating while watching this and scrolling through the comments!!
@@sgshumblecrumb6046 Best line!!! The line we should all be asking of West Side Story, but we don't.
Somehow Norm manages to jump into a sketch that is all singing and all dancing where he does neither and is simultaneously the glue and the wedge that hilariously holds together and drives apart the premise of the sketch. I gotta assume that Norm or someone very close to Norm wrote that. Very cool to be able to utilize everyone’s abilities here including the triple threat work of RDJ.
I'd bet money that Norm wrote this
What is triple threat work?
He wrote it
@@_banja I assume he means acting, singing, and dancing.
@@abc456f thanks
RIP Norm, you were tremendously funny and never afraid to go for it. You will be missed.
This gotta be one of the best skits ever. RIP Norm. You were a genius and a good man.
RIP to Norm McDonald, one of the funniest parts of SNL during the mid 90's.
Norm McDonald was mad underrated on SNL
Redskins Banks hell yeah he was
My favorite comedian ever
Most of the guys who became "stars" from SNL were sketch guys, but Norm was a stand-up and Weekend Update was his wheelhouse. Those guys don't do many sketches to begin with and I don't think Norm had a whole ton of interest in sketch anyway.
He was the best "weekend update"
Agreed.
"Oh no, that's not good" has to be in the top five SNL quotes of all time.
*RIP Norm!!* You were, and still are, adored by *ALL* your fans 💜💜💜
“Oh no. That’s not good.” still makes me laugh after about a dozen views. 😂
This was some of the best writing ever. Robert Downey Jr was still on and he wasn't that good when he was in the group. They actually choreographed this like a real West Side story. Best ever! This skit had me in stitches as well as in awe.
This was many years after he was a cast member. He was 20 when he was in the cast, in his early 30's here.
He definitely wasn't the worst cast member during the run of the show, been watching since the late 70's. His & Michael Hall's sense of humor didn't mess with Dennis Miller's, etc. Just bad chemistry.
Thanks for the laughs Norm. This is such a norm premise and his delivery makes it!
"We're being Cobras."
The great Colin Quinn
hissssssssssssssss
Jesus, this sketch has so many talented SNL alumni. It has Chris Kattan, too.
He's gay you know? Nah he's alright...
Chris Kattan doesn't have a doghouse.
He's a good man though
I really loved Kattan on SNL back then, he was built for sketch comedy. Super animated and uninhibited, especially with characters that other comics may never have touched with a 10 foot pole - Mango and Mr Peepers are some of my favorites ever! Word is Norm relentlessly fu¢ked with him so bad though that it drove a serious wedge between em and made Kattan miserable. Office draaaamaaaaa 💅
@@SynthiaVan Not without reason, as I understand it. I've heard many reports from other cast members that Kattan was notorious for backstabbing and stealing ideas.
Love you Norm, RIP
West Side Story by Steven Spielberg
I like how Farrel is out of sync with the moves, as if he hadn't been rehearsing, but still tries to contribute with scat singing
Darryl Hammond is way off earlier in the sketch, too.
Norm MacDonald was woefully overlooked during his run on SNL. #RIP
Just saw West Side story and thought about Norm the whole time
The guy from kids in the hall joined SNL
Norm really looks like a tall, cool drink of water, especially standing next to all the other guys.
“What? He started singing then he started singing then he started singing then he started singing so I started singing. It happens!” Favorite part. Not sure why I’m mentioning it.
Always love that first "What the hell was that?"
I haven't laughed that much for ages, brought me to tears and I also spat out my breakfast cereal
My God. The pure skill and singing by these guys was amazing. Best SNL skit of all time for me.
My mom is Puerto Rican and grew up in Williamsburg Brooklyn in the 50’s. I did a screen recording of “while you were singing I got stabbed in the head by a Puerto Rican”! Hahaha!!! She couldn’t stop laughing.
Norm makes me smile when I'm depressed af....miss him. His dumb laugh and sense of humor is so me ...I don't feel so alone. ..miss u😢
My all time favourite sketch. Brilliant and everyone acts perfect :)
"Oh no that's not good"
Great sketch!
RDJ looking rather diminutive next to giants Ferrell and Macdonald.
Love you Norm
Ferrel is hilarious with his "aahhh eee ahhhh"
Rest In Peace norm you’re an absolutely legend forever.
This is my all time favorite SNL skit. I’m just dying every time I watch it.
EVERYTHING about this is better than EVERYTHING you did last night
quality of everything was better. Writing, performing, production, set design- EVERYTHING
the cast deserves to have a cast listing put in the description
RIP Sir
When I cry laughing I know it's genius, RIP Norm MacDonald
I can’t stop laughing my ass off every time I watch this.
Norm made the whole sketch so believable.
Rest in peace Norm Macdonald
The way Norm McDonald's character respond to the dramatic singing and the choreographed dancing is the way I respond to just about every musical I see.
Every time I watch this I get to the "stabbed in the head" line and I laugh so hard I cannot breathe.
Rest in Peace, you were a great Norm.
RIP Norm
Heartbreaking, watching this for the first time after Norm's passing.
Colin Quinn saying "We're Cobra's" really makes the sketch.
While you were singing, I got stabbed in the head by a Puerto Rican 😆
Best song ever written, even though they didn't get to it.
This is a perfect skit! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You beat the cancer Norm
We will miss you Norm. Loved you on SNL. Loved you on your prime time show Norm. Plus you were great in films as a supporting cast (My name is Earl) or as a main character (Screwed comes to mind). But my all time favourite of you is your hilarious interpretation of Burt Reynolds.
Rest In Peace Norm (Turd Ferguson) McDonald. .
Aww this is the first time I'm watching this since Norm passed. Rest in piece, you comedy king
Sheri Oteri as Sandy Duncan
I would say Susan Oakes.
Her noises are so funny
This is the most underrated sketch ever
RIP GOAT
Weird to see Colin Quinn in an actual sketch
4:29 Norm elbowed Chris Kattan in the face. Makes sense since the two hate each other in real life (or at least back then)
Great skit .. RIP Norm
The only skit Norm wrote that Chris Kattan loved being in.
He thought it was straight up.
Stephan Sondheim is laughing with Norm. RIP
2:16 Will Ferrell’s “OOOOooOoooHh” had me in stitches when it first aired and still does.
😱 RIP NORM 1960-2021 MACDONALD! ONE OF THE GREAT COMICS OF HIS GENERATION. NOW HE CAN TELL GOD THE "MOTH JOKE"! YOU WILL BE MISSED HERE ON EARTH MY FRIEND.
OMFG i havent seen this one before but damn, whenever that first person jumped out and Norm's delivery of "oh thats not good" made me laugh hella XD
Gangs have really changed since the 50's.
4:10 oh god is that Colin Quinn
Ferreal and Robert Downey Jr end up becoming 2 of the biggest stars in the world. Funny, no one would of guessed at this time.
This Reminds me a lot of the Ron Burgundy fight scene now that’s epic 😂😂😂
Norm is the great guy…he was a gold standart!
I was so sad when Norm died! We're born the same year. RIP Norm! ❤
Love this and love Norm
Rip the bestest coal of all coals
RDJ in this reminds me so much of Beck Bennett.
Whoa wait, is that Robert Downey Jr.?
Norm should've pitched more skits.
This is golden. And who knew Downey Jr can carry a note??
Is that RDJ?
I love at the end when they all just start dancing with each other
Did nobody notice, Tim Meadows plays a very convincing Puerto Rican?
"We're being cobras" is the best 2 lines of the skit
Watching this in 2023 and wondering how I never saw this. It's one of the best SNL sketches of all time.
I am a huge fan of classic movies from every era so when I finally watched West Side Story and the "gang" started snapping their fingers I was like, wtf is this shit. Should I be worried Norm and I have the same sensibilities? Can't tell you how often I look at something with the same take, Bill Burr has a similar effect on me.
Scrolled pretty far before anyone mentioned that freaking IRON MAN was in this sketch lol
How you come up with a song so fast?
I can tell where norm got the idea from. He was probably thinking while watching a movie "What? These gangsters are a little too fruity! Do you think this is how gangsters were back in the day? You know, Chris Kattan would probably fit well with this bunch."
You know who could kill a Panther? O.J Simpson!
Robert Downey is actually a good song and dance man!
I’m surprised there isn’t a Fall Out Boy song called “while you were singing I got stabbed in the head by a Puerto Rican”
This is hilarious colin dancing at the end 😂😂😂
Everyone in this skit is a legend!
Every musical should have one character who just thinks they're in a normal movie
This is a really great idea for the sketch that paid off! 😂
Norm, Colin Quinn, will Farrell, Jim Breuer. Wow SNL used to be so much better
Norm , Robert Downey Jr and will Pharrell doing a comedy skit together. That's very rare.
Will Ferrell’s singing in this was excellent
Colin Quinn is the real life Moe Sizlack
I love how Norm is the only self-aware person in the musical fantasy world.😂
I can’t stop watching this one.
While you were singing I got stabbed in the head by a Puerto Rican!!😂😂😂😂Love Norm! RIP.
