- Watch as guitar virtuoso Paul Gilbert discusses music and performs during an exclusive in-store appearance at Guitar Center Hollywood. As part of the Guitar Center Sessions series the power trio of Paul Gilbert, Jeff Bowders, and Craig Martini blasted through an eleven-song set consisting of music from a variety of genres.
Back in 1979, Paul Gilbert was in guitar player magazine as an up and coming talent. He couldnt've been more than 14 or 15 yrs. old. It's good to see him now as a successful musician. Go Paul,go!
The way he sings Just Take My Heart is just too good!
This guy knows how to fuckin sell stompboxes
i love him, hes a little kid and thats his attitude and this is why he is one of the heartwarming shredders of the 90s... oh man !
fulltimenerds 80s...
I love how he builds his own pedalboard like the rest of us
Class act, Paul has the BEST attitude of any musician out there. Wish I could have been there!
I met Paul through a friend about 12 years ago. I visited him at his house just outside of Las Vegas. His entire second floor was set up as a recording studio with about 100 guitars hanging on the wall in the sound booth, and a kick ass game room right outside. Also, the formal living room is set up just to record a grand piano...
Mr. Big money pays for some incredible stuff!
I love pedals boards too.
I really like how Paul is so open and honest about his playing and does it with the kind of enthusiasm that is so infectious.
Just take my Heart by Mr. Big.--> 1:55 amazing!
It's always great to see someone that has overflowing buckets of talent make 100 different things seem effortless.
At 3:37 for a split second it looks like there is fire coming out of the head of his guitar, but then again with Paul Gilbert that is a possibility.
Holy cow that's awesome XD
Especially with a riff like that 😂
Paul Gilbert is the man! This is such a great explanatory video, so refreshing!
This was so much fun to watch. And his skills are just so sick.
paul gilbert is one of my favorites... love his music and his solos!
why do i love paul so much? everytime i meet him he's such a cool guy....can't wait to listen to his new cd
What I highly respect in Paul is his knowledge of music history, awareness of the sound and many techniques. Many shredders just concentrates only on their jobs, their style of music but not Paul, he is more tha that!
thanks...this is beautiful song!!! \,,/ greeting from Brazil !!!
everything that comes out of Paul's amp is fuckin' gold
Songs I recognize:
0:41 Rush - Limelight
1:55 Mr. Big - Just Take My Heart
4:25 Rainbow - Man On The Silver Mountain
and 4:37 The Scorpions - Blackout
4:57 RUSH Hemispheres
4:47 pinball wizard -the who
@@efecan311 Thanks.

3:50 "And it doesn't go OOOOOH & Feedback"! I hit the floor there.
So nice and humble......yet when he plays.....he just slays.
I've just now discovered Paul and I like him!!!!
Paul has a brillaint musical brain, and thats not even talking about his chops!
This guy is a true professional and very cool person.

1:57 is Just Take My Heart by Mr. Big (Paul's band) off the album Lean Into It
Man on the Silver Mountain!!!!!!!!!! :D
He's a real great guitar player and such a nice guy...!!
that was seriously entertaining
wow paul's singing has improved so much!! my inspiration to be a better guitarist+singer!!!
@OnlyByFishStandards
And he never has a problem sharing his playing techniques or equipment details. I very nice Guy Gof bless him.. he has brought so much humility to the virtuoso shredder clan.
just take my heart
@Halocon The amp Paul is using at the moment is a single channel amp so he sets it up to have a minimal amount of gain.
Rush kicks ass!! Gilbert made my day with playin' it ! :D
Funny how when he started demonstrating the Flanger I thought "man that sounds like a Rush-y kinda sound/riff" and the next thing he does is play "Limelight". lol Paul ROCKS!!!
@the9ballking ... it is not Deep Purple, it is by Ritchie Blackmore but from the Rainbow era, the song is called " Man on the silver mountain" Paul G.. correct me if I'm wrong.
i've never been a pedal guy. at the most i would have 3 pedals on my board but this guy makes me want to have them all
thank you!
5:14 The head of the guitar glowing from sheer awesomeness!
Doesn't he though...how the fuck can you not admire this guy, one of the very best, no question.
wow. Paul has a nice voice!
When Paul busts out the "Limelight" riff... I guitargasmed
thanks man!
Great explanation, and video, but something just kept bothering me... This is Guitar Center's page... and I kept wondering: "was there no ONE to fix the FEEDBACK from his mic??!?!?!
0.20 Mr. Gilbert said about Jakarta...Wowww, i bet u like the Mango fruit that always served here specially just for u....
Power ballads, JUST TAKE MY HEART.....
He's awesome, he can really talk for himself and tell you stuff in an entertaining way, almost like a comedian. Fuck it, he IS a comedian! FUCK YEAH GILBERT!!
Paul is awesome!
he sounds so cool- both in speech and gutiar :)
Thanks!
PAUL its about time you wrote another heavy metal album with racer x
Such a great guy; supremely talented, genuinely humble, and very outgoing and enterprising- everything I'm not! Wait- now I hate him- kidding. He's always been super classy: he's never let the dizzying heights or leaner mid-points Impact his commitment or approach to any of his group or solo career.
Pretty rare qualities in the entertainment industry (based only on my extremely limited involvement in/knowledge of said "industry")
one of the best guitar hero of the history!!,,
im so happy to hear im not the only one who makes a fretboard haha. i need to make one to fit a freakin boss RC-50 and an ME-20
I want that alternate Flanger effect in a Separate pedal!!!!....
@maurizs97music I don't see how you can say PG is underrated. He is one of the most respected guitarists in rock music today.
i love anawalt...my dad used to work there.
THE MAN ON THE SILVER MOUNTAIN!!!
Has a Tuner right there and chooses to use his Ears.. lol. Classic.
@dus65 many thanks! I'll check this out
4:57 makes a Trevor Rabin reference then plays a bar from Rush Hemispheres . Lol . Great song great guitar player .

I don't think Yngwie is starved.... but good point about Paul, he's great.
I love Paul. Such a cool guy, one of the greatest guitarists ever and he still manages to stay humble. He plays cuz he loves guitar, not cuz he's an attention starved 80's leftover *coughyngwiecough*
+Travis Colley lmaoooo....good point!!!
I want that Flanger pedal!!
Pretty good singing voice
@LfunkeyA that is my point xactly.....he was part of one of the biggest 80's rock bands (aptly titled Mr. Big :D) and wrote numerous crowd pleasing and pop influenced songs with them, not compensating on music theory or technique at any point of time....and he continues to be one of the most respected solo guitarists on the touring scene who plays a chunk of rock songs (unlike satriani or vai)...and has good PR skills :).yet he continues to be a second fiddle guitarist in terms of popularity
what a nice guy
wow his effects are very interesting i think no 1 can beat him on the guitar
I like him!such a nice guy :)
nothin beats the great PG
It's Mr. Big's 'Just take my heart'.
Am I the only one, when Paul first started to demonstrate the flanger, just knew a Rush song was coming?
@443Airsoft FIREMAN, its a reverse Iceman that paul designed
"just take my heart" by mr. big, paul gilbert's band
que bien que le queda esa guitarra
Dude is a riot.
4:59 was Pinball Wizard - The Who
@alapunk13 its a reverb, not a delay.
he knows so much songs..
It's Man on the silver mountain with Rainbow! :)
Would be nice to see the pedal board.
uhhh YEAH this is awesome
he is a great person.
Thanks matt. :)
