    I'm trying to fill up "publishing / sync" today in Tunecore. It has a new interface and in the bottom requires Social Media links and number of followers. Does Tunecore can verified our social media with a blue badge verification? By the way I am BMI member since last week do I need also to pay 75$ for Tunecore publishing? Thanks for your respond, already subscribe.

    • @wordplaytjay
      @wordplaytjay  Рік тому +1

      You don’t need Tunecore if you already have BMI. You need it if you don’t want to manage all of your registrations yourself. I think social media links are for making sure they know where you’re active and now how to pitch your music. It’s not for verification

  • @stevenvagovics

    Hello! Can you opt-in to the sync when you distribute through another distributor? Because I’ve read in their FAQ that in order to use Tunecore Sync, your song needs to be also distributed with Tunecore. Thank you.

    • @wordplaytjay

      @@wordplaytjay Thank you very much for your reply, but I was actually asking about something else. I would like to know whether it’s true that when you want to use Tunecore Sync, you also need to have your music distributed with Tunecore. Because if it’s possible to distribute with CD Baby and still be able to use Tunecore Sync, I would rather go that way.

    • @wordplaytjay
      @wordplaytjay  8 місяців тому +1

      @@stevenvagovics Oh okay, thank you for clarifying. I'm unsure if that's possible, but in my experience I've distributed with DistroKid and had a sync agreement with Tunecore as my pub admin. That's because the Sync team had me upload my music using a third party app called Disco. I'm not sure if it currently works the same way.

      @@wordplaytjay Thank you so much! They say in their FAQ that Tunecore Sync needs you to have your music also distributed with Tunecore, but I would be very happy if I could keep using CD Baby and still be able to use Tunecore Sync. I can’t get myself to use a distribution service which requires a yearly fee because I would like to have my music protected in case something happens to me and CD Baby keeps it distributed forever.

    Hi man, thanks for this video, really does help. Question, do producers count as co-writers or just actually writers? What if I have a song, I wrote all lyrics and melodies and producers just gave me the beat(s). Would i lists producers as co-writers or since i was the only writer on the song there isn't any co-writers?

    • @wordplaytjay
      @wordplaytjay  Рік тому +1

      producers are writers…more technically called composers. co-writers are anyone that works as a group to write lyrics or make the music portion of the song.
      they make up half of the writer portion.

    • @braheemwashington5324

    • @wordplaytjay

      technically producers are co-writers. if you leased or purchased a beat you should have an agreement of splits with that producer.

    Hi TJay, Thanks for the video.
    I have two questions. Please answer when you get the time.
    1. If I have a song released and marketed via social media and through plugging, then I opt in for sync licensing via Tunecore's publishing administration service and the song lands a placement, how does the fact that the song is already out there making profit for me affect the exclusivity if the licensing party want so license the song EXCLUSIVELY?
    2. If I have 10 songs in total then I choose to license 7 of these songs EXCLUSIVELY to Publisher A and the remaining 3 songs EXCLUSIVELY to Publisher B, Is this going to create any clash between both publishers or since they will only be administering a specific number of songs that have been agreed upon respectively there will be absolutely no clash since the exclusivity is limited to the songs and NOT TO ME AS AN ARTIST?
    Please Help.
    Kind Regards
    Vxnce

    • @wordplaytjay
      @wordplaytjay  9 місяців тому +1

      Q1: I don’t believe the licenses with tunecore are exclusive, but please read your terms so that you can decide if you’re better off letting that song grow on social.
      Q2: That’s normally not a problem because the company isn’t representing you specifically. Pitch songs to whoever will take them. If they want to do an exclusive deal for more of the songs, then they will let you know.

      Good day TJay,
      I have recently released a jazz album and 3 sync songs. I signed up for publishing administration with Tunecore Publishing with an intent to have access to their sync licensing opportunities however they don't seem to have that "opt in" option visible anywhere on the website.
      Does this mean they no longer offer it, I just am looking in the wrong places or does this automatically mean that I opted in for sync licensing?
      Or does this mean they probably listened to it and it is either they didn't like my stuff
      Or that they are finding compatible placements and I m just being impatient?
      Please advise when you get someone time from your busy schedule.

      It does not automatically register your song with Tunecore Publishing when you release a song with Tunecore.
      It does start the process though. When you release a song, it will show up in your publishing dashboard. You have to go into your publishing dashboard and update some of the information like the writers and composers on the song.

    What info should I request from him ?

    • @wordplaytjay
      @wordplaytjay  Рік тому

      The song you make from the beat is you and his creation. Each writer needs to register a work individually. He needs a publishing account and you do to. You would register the new song and list him and you as a writers.
      I feel like you’re talking about Content ID on youtube which is different, it’s connected to the final recording. It will look for anything that sounds like the final song. You can ask him to remove the beat after you purchase.

      i can’t answer that as best as I’d want to. As a songwriter you are entitled to part of the publishing but so is the beat maker. you are both writers (you= writer/author | producer = composer).
