The cost was damn cheap, 50 guilders, that's about 20$. After that I was hooked on F1 Rally and DTM Go karting.

Looking at his heritage with his dad and mom both having very good racing DNA and the hardcore all-in upbringing and training by his dad, this kid was basically born and molded to be the perfect racing driver.. I was.. In his debut year 2015 you could already tell he was a very special talent.. But he was still a kid when he entered F1, he needed to grow up and learn some patience.. I think he did that after Monaco 2018.. He's been phenomenal ever since, the best driver in F1 by a country mile.. No more mistakes no more weaknesses, insanely consistent.. Aslong as the other big talents do not have a clearly better car than him I do not see anyone beat him in the coming years for the championship.. I think the first real opportunity for that will be 2026 when we get totally new engines.. Not any early I'm affraid, so F1 will remain "boring" (read: predictable) for most wins in 2024 and 2025 as well, at least..

He's probably the only english speaking guy i've seen that pronounces Max's last name correctly
It’s pretty close yet miles off. Fwiw, I’m half Irish, half Dutch, aged 60 and have lived in Holland for the past 50-ish years. The pronunciation places the emphasis just slightly too much on “Ver”, the second syllable should be leading. The “Ver” sounds alike to the “pen” at the end.

The "ver" is indeed the hardest part. Usually pronounced as "vur". Its more like "vèrrr". If the "rrr" is to difficult just swallow it and say "vèstappen".

The best lap ever and one of my best if not the best sporting moment in my life. Pure excitement, pleasure and climax. Man, did you feel it too? Great wasn't it?
One of the best laps ever. The best lap ever is Ayrton Senna on Donington in the rain in think 1991. There was a lot of rain he didn’t had the fastest car an started at 5th. The 4 drivers in front of him had a total of 11* World champion titles combined when they retired. They Where Alain Prost (4 or 5 world champion titles), Michael Schumacher (still had the record with 7 titles with Lewis), Damon Hill (1 or 2 titles) and another driver. All 4 drivers in front of him had an faster car than his McLaren of that year. In the first lap Senna passed all 4 drivers (in the first lap of the race) an win the race with a big margin. Other drivers behind Senna saw nothing because of the big water spray behind his car. The Max Verstappen race on Interlagos (from 16 to 3rd) was also amazing (and also when he corrected the car to prevent a wall crash during the race). Think that Max Verstappen could win that 2016 Brazilian race if he chose for full west earlier and not intermediates (was 16th and then he had to

He is easily the single most improved F1 driver ever. Removed all his weak points, refined his strong points. He has no competition in the area of self-improvement. That also means he is definitely one of the hardest-working F1 drivers ever because you just do not move forward that much without extreme effort. Respect!

People who still think you can compare drivers and cars of different ages, have no clue of F1!
The only thing what’s counting is the talent of the driver who gets the most out of the car in the moment of the day!

Winning or loosing is a team performance!
True, but it's fun to do. However the better drivers do tend to end up with the better teams. It's not like a driver with the talent of Senna or Max is lost because he drove in back marker teams his entire career. And I do think there is a difference in competing on the highest level (winning races) consistently with the pressure that comes with it and getting the most out of the car and finishing 12th or something.
But between the drivers that won let's say 2 or more championships it does become rather subjective who is better. Hamilton is of course an excellent driver, but he did get lucky to be in a dominant team for so long. Is he better than Senna? I don't think so, but I can't prove that. Fangio? No clue, it was so different back than and I never saw him race. Plus racing is so different than it was back then.
Have you ever heard of comparison in percentages? It works perfectly well even for different F1 generations!

Max will race with RB until his contract is up in 2028. If at that point RB has fallen of the pace and become non competitive (championship wise) and there is no indication that they would get back on top soon, he will leave F1.

I just wish it was more competitive..these last 2 seasons have been so boring. The 1st year he won it was brilliant so exciting and a real battle to win it.
