@@zmc223 yep, kind of hard to race on an empty tank LOL. I was just commenting on the fact that these time attack cars regardless of horsepower are geared for screaming acceleration. Even the tiny little 400 horsepower cars that have little 2 L 12,000 RPM NA Cosworth racing motors mated to sequential transmissions with straight cut gears. It's nice to know that you can always be in the meat of the powerband.

I came here to say that they should get Kimi to drive :)
I think they cannot drive over the curbs because of the very slow splitters and the racing line is so different then GT3 cars.

@@donlimbargo5865 not exactly. Remember the time Audi went into Trans-Am? We banned not only Audi, but any other foreign car company from using their own engines. So, yes, we do speak jealously very much in mass.
The dude explaining all the technical stuff, seems to be the right guy to have in a team. He's taking every oportunity to look for improvements, and never seem to be completely happy with the result.

Is it just me or does he seem to (given the amount of aero) brake too early and accelerate out of the corner way too late? Seems to be a lot more lap time in the car
Yep for sure! Amateur driver that lost confidense on the first braking due to different brake feel (the last incar). Plus we had only 1 day of running so no time to study the data deeper.
No , he brakes a but too much on corner entry, but you guys remember, that's NOT a500 to 600 ho car, that's 1500, FIFTEEN HUNDRED, that car is like a wild bullat kow speeds, could easily get away from him.

Great job!! Very impressive. That must be overwhelming dealing with all that power and downforce trying to find its limits.
I actually expected a much faster time. The production car record is 1:56.1, running on road tires, with a warranty. Perhaps it also says how well did AMG did with their AMG One.

Saw that car on Tiktok a while back and was taken aback by the ammount of wings. How much downforce does this thing generate?
Mega lap tho, now imagine a pro pro driver in it. Probably mid 1:40's, I think this car absolutely can reach that.

a "proper driver" wont take 12% laptime out of that car. Even a high 49 would be phenomenal.
@@krmx37 a gt3 car with much less downforce and 900 horsepower less can do almost 1.55 so i think 1.49 would be easily achievable
over 5 tons of downforce at around 260kph .just watched a video where they talked about the setup. they have active suspension to compensate for the INSANE downforce :D

This is why fins are all super fast. Their emotions are not part of the equation. Everybody thought Kimi was just being a dick, but that is how they all are. Emotions cloud the mind. Plus emotions waste energy in the mind numbing cold.
Sounds about right! 😁 But Kimi is not being a dick, he just says how he feels using as little words as possible. Thats how we are. Efficient. 🙂

Yeah we did talk about this after the event and there is a plan to change this for next year. The organizer was a bit surprised about our pace. 😬

Thanks! We are all like brothers to Kimi. 🤣 Cornering speed has lot to do with driver not knowing the track yet and Hard compound tires. We plan to be back this year with much better preparation.

Yes its the same car! We did a wee upgrade for 2019. The Grid version is the one we races 2017 at World Time Attack Challenge event.

First of all, I thought, that the car in the game is to fast for real life, but this video now proofs me wrong. It is that fast. I am surprised how fast the car is around the track compared to all the Porsche

I think traction is a big problem you can see that he has to have the Car almost plain level to accelerate at full Throttle where as when you watch a GT3 lap the GP curcuit you can see they can Get on the Gas alot Earlier. Dont know what set of TC they are running but i bet there is alot of Time laying on the Exits of the Cornerw
I think there is a ton left on the table. Seeing the onboard, he was only fast in the straights and quite slow in the corners, especially in the slower ones. The line was off on a few points also. So they need to get the suspension setup correctly to improve and maybe also learn the track better.
I think this car can go faster than a gt3 with a better setup and maybe more seat time at the track.
Yeah biggest difference is that our driver is a retired sausage salesman. So we need quite an extreme machine to compensate for the driver. 😬 Also at the moment we are running hard compound tires as we couldnt make the softs survive at the rear with the current setup so giving away quite a bit in slow and medium pace corners. We will have a pro driver behind the wheel for some testing next year when more things should be dialed in so stay tuned for some quicker laps!

are you guys using slicks or is it a controlled semi slick tyre?
No tire limits, we are running hard compound slicks at the moment as we havent tested enough to make softer compounds survive.
Looked like controlled dynamite exploding. Frequently 3Gs and up to 4Gs on breaking. Totally insane but impressive. R8 is awesome.
Not quite, by memory the braking is around 2,8G max and cornering on this track might top at 2,5. The camera sensor might be a bit spiky at times. But the car does do things quite nicely. 🙂

Fantastic car. Pulls so much! But not sure if the aero is fully utilised or works well. In Michael Schumacher S which is an aero corner I have a 10kph higher minimum speed in a standard GT4 Cayman on a 5 degrees foggy day. With all this aero I think your car should manage much more.
