This is just mandated glowie tech. They’re trying many iterations, and eventually one of them will catch on.
It is unnecessary to spend $99 on this, I highly doubt its ability to succeed. The processing time itself is a major drawback. I think the sphere of AI needs more thought and innovation rather than creating products that can be substituted with a simple app.
Why do these companies go out of their way to make a separate device? Do they genuinely not realize that it’s not needed? How do smart investors put money into something like this? So many questions

It's like the meme of the Internet of Things _(everything connected to the internet for no reason)._ Thing is, now there has been a lot of investment on tech, resources and everything for every single AI project but it hasn't found any real profitability

don't get me wrong, it probably will fail, but if it wont it's well worth the other 100 AI-Projects you invested in that failed.

looking at AI without much knowledge just gives you 'AI developes ways faster than imaginable and is much more powerfull than we can comprehend'.

I love how this AI voice assistant technology is devolving.
We had moderately useful Siri like 12 years ago, and Google Assistant like 8 years ago, but these past few years, companies have been making some of the most useless voice assistants imaginable. Ironically, it somehow got WORSE after the ChatGPT/etc. boom. How is that even possible? What a bizarre timeline to live in.
I don't even mind the predatory anti-social marketing, but the technology is just so badly executed.
If you think that's bad, look at the Spotify uhhh... Device... It's a screen with Spotify... It failed big time. Made in the era or smartphones.

Here’s a quick summary:
After the presidential elections on July 28, Maduro’s regime falsified the results as they have been doing for the past couple of years and declared him the winner of the elections, but this time it was way too obvious, even for them.
Since then Venezuelans all over the country have been on the streets protesting, trying to finally get our country free from the hands of this corrupt government.
Unfortunately, the government, seeing how it was impossible to cover their facade this time, rather than hand over the power, they have instead started to kill protesters, kidnap citizens who post “anti-Maduro propaganda“ on social media from their homes, and have basically taken off the mask and declared how they will continue to do this and will NOT hand over power.
Since July 28 to today, there has been more than 15 killed (including a minor), 90 injured, over a hundred “disappeared”, and many others, specially “opposing”politicians are currently being held and tortured. Please keep in mind this number will only continue to increase rapidly due to Maduro’s government no longer hiding the fact they are evil dictators as I mentioned before.
There’s a lot of terrible things that have happened before, during, and after July 28 that I cannot say here since it would make this way too long.
Please Mutahar, Venezuela needs the help of the outside world, we are being killed and tortured.

Welcome to 2024 where everything that used to be free is now not anymore, you have to pay more to get them. And it's not 100% working properly
i've heard it called enshittening. companies offer good products/websites/games for a low cost. once they've locked in a solid user base they charge more and invest less in development, so you go from a cheap/free good thing to an expensive and shitty one. like how amazon operated at a loss for decades before taking more from sellers and making every seller pay for users to even see their products. these extra costs are payed for entirely by the consumer, usually for a worse product.
it's an unfortunate consequence of what happens when you maximize for profit in the online space. it's all about the bottom line, and if we don't respond to it, they'll keep doing it.

Why is the advert directed like a trailer for a horror film. It is so ominous and creepy.
I have horrible social anxiety to the point where I'd rather avoid going into a grocery store if the parking lot is at more then 15% capacity. I still wouldn't buy this.
I do use chatbots as my little ramble walls though. I have severe adhd as well and chatbots have really helped save the few relationships I have by changing where I infodump.

There are no consequence from what you say to these devices when it is as simple as changing what you say to these devices will change how it responds where as you said this to a person then there would be an entire discussion taking place regardless of telling them you love them.
The potential to reinforce bad behavior is high when it is as easy as changing the context of what you say to these devices as they take you for your word regardless.

Geez, if you want an egg-shaped device that will act like your friend that actually works, get a Tamagotchi. At least then you'll get a cute virtual pet that acts like a pet and doesn't listen to every sound you make, and you won't have spent nearly as much money. They even have varied, cute personalities, unlike whatever chatbot this eavesdropping necklace is connected to.
I could see this possibly working if they took the pet/tamagotchi approach where you had to take care of it and could see it grow in some sense. They're already kind of going in that direction by making the device irreplaceable. It would be awesome to have a tamagotchi pet that you could interact with more and also potentially recieve updates to make it better like with what they're trying to do with friend
