Only drop test on youtube atm! Nice. Seems quite durable
Nice drop test. At least you realized that the front glass' integrity was already compromised and will lead to further damage when dropped again face down. Looks like one durable phone. Like Jerry Rigg says... glass is glass and glass breaks.
Well as mentioned in the video, Huawei has glass that doesn't break.
Thanks!
@@samp6162but also the screen is not as nice so stronger the screen uglier the picture
so the front as as fragile as back glass of iPhone 15? that's a shame as front glass of iPhone is very durable
@@samp6162 Unfortunately Huawei is banned for sale in the US. Huawei's glass will eventually break as all glass will. I do admit they are more resilient. I have a Huawei phone which I've gotten prior to the ban.
I work for Tmobile and I have to say, even with a more durable phone still get a case. I've seen too many damaged phones from a lot worse scenarios than just dropping it.
👍
I don't know anyone who doesn't use some kind of case. I never use a screen protector, but always a case. The test should at least use a cheap case imo.
Painful to watch such a great device be destroyed. But good points made and good info on the device. Thanks
👍
Destroyed?
I would pay for this tested device, in this condition, about 50 euros.
I'm crying when i see u drop this phone😢
@@bangi2757 ill pay 200 euros
Moral of the video is: Always use a case and a screen protector in any phone. Even if it has the most "protective technology released so far".
A case is a must, but the screen protector is up for debate. Adding glass ruins the effect of the anti-reflective coating on the screen. Samsung has an anti-reflective screen protector, but it's FILM. That means no protection against falls only scratches and scrapes, and this is what the new glass does very well with. I tried Spigen's glass for only a few hours before returning it due to bad fitment, fingerprint reader issues, and dust collecting and being trapped on the sides.
Forgot to say: If you're sloppy and lame and fear you will drop your phone all the time so you destroy the experience of having the 1400$ phone by attaching 20$ low quality items to it(plastic case/regular glass)
@@AlexandreG "sloppy and lame" isn't a term for someone that wants their phone to be broken or scratchedfrom a single accidental drop. Glass is glass, and glass is fragile alone no matter the protection the manufactors give it.
@@lavahoundbrlava1883 I know people who don't even trust themselves with their baby on their hands, still, they are not dressing the kid in a iron suit. There's some things that need to be fully experienced, and to me the premium feel of a phone body is one of them. I've used a screen protector on my 1000 bucks device and I broke one and ended up using another, had them installed for almost 2 years and used case for almost 3, but the difference of not having both those things feels so good I will never be able to install a screen protector again. Maybe in the summer for the beach time
@AlexandreG meh if your that worried about it jus pay samsung care plus $100 -120 a year for accidental drops just need to pay a small deductible and if the unlucky thing you do 6 months down the road you can get a replacement for $100 or new screen for 30 from a shop honestly this will work better than any screen protector will I find it worth it $120 for a year of coverage personally I have dropped my s23 ultra it had a case and it hit the edge of the screen and my phones display turned into a split screen all black and flashing green on top and visual on the bottom luckily I signed up for samsung care had to pay $100 for replacement deductible got a free 512gb upgrade from 256gb so wasn't too bad
Learn your material characteristics as they make the glass harder to resist key scratches. Something harder will crack easier from a drop.
Think about a ceramic cup that has no give in it whatsoever. If you wanted to survive a drop test, then you would want the glass to have a lot of movement, but it would scratch up real easy. You cannot have one Characteristic without making the other characteristic worse. If they're going for scratches, then the screen will crack easier.
Not the case necessarily. Look at the mate 60 pro with kunlun glass. It not only does not break or crack, it doesn't scratch as easily either.
@PBKreviews I'll check into that because generally it's a trade-off you either get one or the other.
good points you mentioned here.
@@PBKreviews3:13 which glasses you mentioned here?
Kunlun Glass which is used on the Mate 60 Pro from Huawei
Really appreciarlte this men. Ill subscribe to you since you are the first to do the drop test
👍 thanks
perhaps the glass should of been slightly thicker in the corners to deal with the compression of the square frame when dropped
would of been pretty impressive if the corner didn't smash on the first drop
Should HAVE been, not should of been!!!
@@brazzo975he wrote it wrong but he's right about those awfully sensitive corners! You better NEVER drop that phone without protection! (Which makes this already thick phone even fatter!)
@@SAIIIURAIHe wrote it wrong two times which makes it even worse. Why can't Americans speak their own language so that a German like me has to correct them???
@@brazzo975 how do you know he's American!?
@@SAIIIURAI Because no one else is that dumb.
Each time Corning comes out with a stronger glass, Samsung makes it thinner, which negates the additional strength. They are obsessed with ever thinner phones, whereas most customers would be ok if the phone was 0.5mm thicker and more drop-resistant
Hell, give me 3mm thicker and put me a bigger battery in it while theyre at it.
Thanks for this. I ran my S23 Ultra for two weeks with no screen protector and the scratches on the screen were enough to make me upgrade to the S24 Ultra and fit a screen protector as I unboxed it.
you're welcome 👍
That is why I ALWAYS get a "Durable Military Shockproof metal Bumper Silicone Case. Protected my previous phone like brand new for 4 years(went through 2 cases). Loving my S24 Ultra now.
I'm using the Otterbox Defender Pro on my S24 Ultra, no screen protector. I've used the same combo since S9+ and haven't had any issues.
@@That_One_Guy-STL Nice solid lightweight case. A bit pricey though. I got my -Simicoo Samsung S24 Ultra Metal Bumper Silicone Case- for 1/3 of the Ottercase price.
I removed the clear cover from my case and I love my case. It is a little heavier, it has screws, but I dont mind.
@Zaturn_ I only paid $35 for it, so it wasn't the full $64. I have a connection at Best Buy. MY last 5 phones have survived a lot with the Defender Pro.
no se si usar protector de pantalla solo para que no se raye xd
Worth mentioning, the crack you got initially was on the curve. Everyone is talking about how they love flat screens because they're so much more durable, but this is still slightly curved on the side edges. As you can see, any curve at all compromises that front panel.
Thanks for this durability test and detailed breakdowns on the logic behind each + notations regarding other, stronger phones.
I've always wondered what happens to these phones after they get scratched and taken apart/reassembled.
usually I wait for parts to become available and I repair them, or I sell them as is broken.
To Samsungs credit the screen is pretty durable and who the hell is using this phone without even a cheap case with raised edges. I'm sold
Based on your video, I just placed my pre-order - thank YOU!
You're welcome
thats why you buy a proper case to protect the phone as the phone makers make them to work, not last , thats on you to make it last
I just have a question, what do u u do after this test with this phone do u throw it away?
Imagine buying a $1300 phone and seeing it getting cracked by a single drop from waist height. (POV: You were just about to put on the case.)
lol
Oh noooo o I will not even open the seal off until o get the corner case or grip case 😅
And here I am eagerly waiting till my preordered S24 Ultra arrives and you already breaking it... Hahahaa! Thanks for the video... Meantime I'm watching all the reviews related to the phone and this ones special too! :D
👍
If they were serious in making it durable it would be polycarbonate creen and back.
It would fe flexible and when you put a screen protector it would be protected from scratching and feel the same under finger.
Всё таки на верхнем правом углу стекло разбилось,,какая бы это не была горилла,,стекло всегда разбивается
Can wait for s24 ultra teardown thanks for during durability test s24 ultra

Bro I am a master student of material engineering and my field is ceramic so I can maybe be the only a few people who can answer you,in fact Huawei and its partner which are making Kunlun glass just use from a rather old but never used transparent material name"nano transparent glass ceramics" which at least in term of thermodynamic science basicly doesn't consider a glass or amorph structural material unlike glass including gorilla glass.I don't blame Kunlun glass or Huawei at all in fact they didn't a great work but their material is not comparisonable with gorilla glass.
👍
I don't think you should be dropping any kind of electronics whether it's a phone or not but yes accidents happen I don't know why anybody would not want some sort of a ultra thin case minimally on their phone or something clear
Cos some people like me prefer to touch the original body/case of the phone.
And yes I go caseless.
Weakest points are the corners hence the cracks there. A case would help.
yup
Nice 🎉 Thank you ✌️
Welcome 👍
Today I accidentally dropped mine on concrete from about a meter high. Even though it has a case and screen protector I thought for sure it was gonna have some scratches and cracks due to how it dropped but there's nothing I can see! I'm very impressed.
You know what its hard to find a fold 5 drop test. Which has lead me to beleive that its one of the most durable out ther and after using it for about half a year now i can confirm this, as i work in construction and dust, dirt concrete has not had any effect on this thing.
Honestly I would never expect a phone dropped face down on concrete to not get cracked, s24u did amazing
Go watch Note9 drop test...
I agree, something like that to me at least is expected and also they you cases are so recommended.
The screen cracked on first try...so i see nothing amazing...Get a case at least
It did really poorly, check the Pixel 8 pro drop test . . .
Back in the day, dropped my Note 4 face down from waist level, no case (I usually have a case) onto cement. Like straight down. Thought it was done, but it was perfectly fine.
Finally a drop test! 🙌 thank you for making this idk why these are so rare these days ❤

The most impressive thing about Gorilla Glass Armor glass is reflections and how it compares to other phones, especially side by side, the colors are so much brighter and not lost due to reflections, it stays clear even in bright light, with way less reflections and mirrors effect, the difference is massive comparing S24 Ultra vs S23 Ultra, or vs iPhone 15 Pro Max. This probably will be new trend. It is interesting that Samsung did not showcase it on launch.
👍
This is not a very powerful technology. Anti-reflective mobile phone films are available on the market and have the same effect.
Will that remain equally non reflective even after applying screen protector.
@@yatsen251sure. if you say so.
@@sahil123-32No, it negates the anti-reflective coating of the screen unless you buy the official samsung screen protector

@@PBKreviews, It would be wonderful if you made considerations regarding oxidation resistance, such as the use of gold or copper in electronic connectors and connectors. Obrigado pelo trabalho maravilhoso que você faz
I'm not too verse on that to review those aspects of it
@@PBKreviews, Thank for your answer. I am looking for a UA-cam channel that reviews cell phones from the perspective of oxidation resistance. I have had many problems with oxidation, such as the phone turning off and not turning on, green screen, white screen, and others. Since cell phones are getting more expensive and the manufacturers are promising up to 7 years of system updates, it makes sense that the components are more noble, with gold coatings that resist oxidation more than copper, and thus have a longer lifespan. Another factor that matters to avoid exposure to reducing agents is the ip68 protection against water. So far I have not found any UA-cam channel that takes this into account, which makes all the difference for those who buy a used phone or want to keep the same phone for as long as possible.
I’ve been waiting for this video, at least the screen still works with the small breakage on the screen. All my Samsung S series whenever I drop it, the breakage was always at the curve part of the phone and ends up changing the whole LCD. I think the flat screen helps too. Thanks for helping video.
You're welcome
I prefer the mosh scale pens to test the screen. The composition of the sand you use will vary from test to test, also the pressure and movements of your hands. So not very scientific or can't compare between phones.
Yep, but too many people would comment saying I was copying others by doing that so decided to do more "real world" type of testing.
@PBKreviews People will always complain, no matter what. Maybe do the pen test before and then the sand. This also makes the video longer and increases profit. But for me, the test with sand it a bit pointless :)
Yup thats true. I got good results from people wanting scratch tests done in pockets or with sand etc., so I continued to stick with it. But I will consider mohs picks again in the future.
@@PBKreviewskey test would be nice. People copy others all the time. But if you copy and do it first then oh well. You the first to test the durability
👍
Thanks for the fast video. Now I'm considering using a case but no screen protector.
You're welcome
Ummm, doesn't this video prove the exact opposite? I mean, the screen chipped but the phone's body survived so you absolutely must use a screen protector, but a heavy case isn't mandatory
Needs armour case. With side protection.
yo no se si quitarle el vidrio templado xd pero no quiero que se raye la pantalla xd
The sand/gravel test was fantastic. A more practical scratch test than a Mohs scratch test
Damn! Cracked from just a waist height drop! So much for Samsung’s S24 Ultra being built like a tank 🤭🤣
lol
If you compare it to the iphone and s23u, IT IS A TANK
Did better than the 15PM LMAOO. It couldn’t even survive a bend test 🤭🤣

Для меня лично устойчивость к царапинам (твёрдость-хрупкость) более важны.
Но есть вот такой тест, где S24U хорошо себя показал: ua-cam.com/video/uUjRqP24cEA/v-deo.html
I would still like to see drop test from shoulder height. Many times I continue using my phone with already broken screen and would be nice to see how it continues to resist after the integrity is already broken

they want to sell parts , thats why i think they dont want to do it hauaui in the other hand, work for its name!

If you have a low end or mid range phone sure. But this thing costs $1300 so a case is a MUST regardless if it has Gorilla or Godzilla Armor.

Samsung wasn't kidding about 7 year software support. They really made it to last 7 years✨️
Ah yes finally was waiting for someone to destroy this Titanium
👍
My kid accidentally knocked my s24 dropped and the screen broke
That's why you should have a case
I wanted to know about the durability of the titanium, particularly if it was scratch resistant and if Samsung learned from the Apple iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max situation. Good to finally know that the phone titanium is not scratch resistant.
In my opinion I think it handled the scratching on the frame much better.
I am honestly shocked that when you put that sand on the screen and rubbed it in that it didn't leave a mark or scratch!! That gave me a lot of anxiety to watch lol but it was nice to see the positive results!!

The most expensive drop test, Samsung, should make a dummy phone for drop test
would love to see head height drop, phone will usually get dropped multiple times...
also fliping it and drop to random position as well would be nice
A côté iphone son en pls 🤣 devent la video
This screen is great against scratches and reflections. Not so much against cracking. So samsung care is no brainer with expansive phone like this. Atlest for me it was.
It's kinda sad. They design phones to look great with all that titanium case, but then you have to squeeze it into a plastic-rubber protection case to safe it from damages.
Exactly I miss the metal body era of phones like htc one only needed a screen protector back couldn’t crack
Some crazy Indian youtuber did many drop test of premium phone to date. S24U, S23U, Ip 15 pro max, OP12, Iqoo 12, etc. Most of these flagship phone's screen survive drop test except OP12 because of the heavy weight. The usual crack happen at the back glass especially if the back glass is weaker than the front glass like the Iphone. First place goes to Iqoo12 with no dmg at all using Schott glass and aluminium frame. So yes, you need a good case more than a good screen protector nowadays for flagship phone. I would say you don't need a screen protector at all for S24U because you will lose the anti reflection feature. If you hate scratches on screen then get the wallet type case.
It's funny because both of these phones the s24 ultra and the iPhone 15 pro Max used titanium this year and neither one of them are more durable than the previous generation without titanium, and not just the frames but even the glass
Now if only this phone had a better skin than oneUI 🤮
If you don't like the UI then you can just change it. OneUIs biggest strengh is that it is so much customizable to fit every taste. You could even make it a one to one IOS copy if wanted.
How is the Samsung titanium stronger than apple even though apple claimed that they used titanium from mars rovers
Well because Apple are scamming people while Samsung are not
Dose anybody know what grade titanium samsung or apple use?
Is it grade 5?
@@JohnSmith-ef8nr yeah grade 5
That gorilla glass sucks ass 😢
It's a lot of baloney. All adverising hype.
Doesn’t seem like a screen protector is necessary this year
But it might crack more easily without a screen protector.
@extrabigmehdi a screen protector helps scratches, not cracks. It's not like a protective case.
@@GD2XProbably, but I'm not 100% sure. In fact I nevet got any cracks, but still managed to kill few amoled screen that turned black.
This Pains More Than Breakup For Tech People, But Guys Remember Someone Has To Do This For Us !
👍
All you have to do is just put it in your pockets and you are guaranteed to have thin little scratches.
That's why i need a screen protector.
Its common sense that a curved screen is less durable, so why give this one any props for being more durable than the previously flawed designed screen? Ill refer you to a built out of plastic Nokia Lumia 910 being used as a hammer. Those drop tests dont mean anything, at the end of the day there are too many variables for 4 drop tests to be meaningful in anyway. This is more of an anecdote. How about a less durable phone that can be fixed for a reasonable price? I would rather replace my digitizer 2, 4, or more times easily than have some phone that costs the same as used unit to replace the screen. Either way dust is going to scratch it, just make it to where its as easy.
I've bought Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra a couple of days ago. Colour: Titanium Violet. Storage: 512GB.
So shocked first time seeing the box - looked like a child's play. Simply can't wait to start using it (still waiting for a charger, case and a screen protector, getting them these days for sure).
Device colour is absolutely immaculate - outlines the Titanium frame and silver rings of the camera module. S pen being gray keeps you feel not missing the other colour that much.
👍
Yeah screen breaking on first drop 😒 that's a shame ... especially for a top priced phone! I think I am over Samsung now, will be checking those Huawei phones 😁
I think its not fair to compare the glass of this phone and cheaper phones with inferior oled/screen/fingerprint/everything technology. Lots of things can be stronger at the cost of performance. Show me a phone with a similar level of performance(screen and hardware) that has better tech.. you can't. I think if samsung could make the screen as strong as those slower/worse but stronger competitors, they would because its a marketing point.
I mistakenly dropped my s24 ultra I was using screen protector wasn't that much height but my phone display cracks😢
Guess Airplane mode didnt help lol
haha
$1300 for this piece of trash
Why tf would you destroy a perfectly good phone! Children in Africa could've ate it!
Personally I hate that Samsung has basterized Android so much. I have a Pixel 8 pro. And I hate how another company has tried to create their own ecosystem like apple did and used Google to do it with android.
THE HORROR PROBLEM WITH MODERN PHONE IS NOT NARSCISITIC DURABILITY BUT 🔋 🔋 OVER HEAT 🔥 🔥 AND UNABLE TO RESIST (SUN) + RECORDING
My S24U titanium frame got a dent idk how I even use casing of Samsung 😢
Manufacturer's could easily use sapphire for the screens, and it would not add much cost to the phone if any. The issue that they have absolutely no incentive to make a phone that doesn't break. Screen repair and phone replacement due to screen damage is a couple hundred million dollar business for them.
Idk if face down is how most people drop their phones. Every drop of mine has been by missing my pocket so corner it is... from waist or chest height.
Dropped from hip height on tile floors, screen cracked badly, my old s21 ultra was more durable the S24 ultra!
Glass is glass, and glass breaks. All that jazz they're serving us is just gimmick. The only thing that will make the screens tougher is using sapphire.
I have one question. Does Samsung approve this or do you need to pay for the phone by yourself. 😊
Paid for it myself :)
Had to watch this because I just got mine and my case doesn't come in for a few days. Not that I plan on dropping it but just for my own peace of mind. lol

S23u drop test on concrete...no big deal. Buy a case and a screen protector just like other phones.
I broke my s23 ultra from 2 feet only with a otter box case …weak , they been promoting better more expensive glass for a decade and still it breaks very easily
Thats bullshit iv droped my s22 ultra so many times some from really high spots even thrown it into the air and let it land on the floor no damage only damage i got is when i kneel down and accidentally sat onto a pointy rock witch cracked the back also my puppy bit it in the corner witch only cracked the back iv droped and thown and smacked my s22 ultra of things and the screen has only got a scratch so if its that easy for the s24 ultra to crack like that then they have definitely disinproved it
