- We finally get to some long-awaited repairs and upgrades for Howie's Hardtop (AKA Dad's '55 Bel Air Hardtop). Just in time for Summer too! We tackle a broken gas gauge, a broken speedometer, a loose power steering belt, replace an obnoxious fan blade, repair the Edelbrock Carb from a bad off the line stumble and re-center the steering wheel. These are repairs that were never followed up on after Howie did the frame off restoration on the '55 that he has owned since 1963! Thanks for watching and be sure to like, comment and subscribe for more Tri Five Chevy content!
Great video Jeff and awesome of you to take care of these repairs for Howie!!!👍🏼😉
Thanks Big Job! It was a very nice surprise for Howie today as we celebrated Father's Day today and I took him for a ride in it! Thanks for watching!
Cool video Jeff. I'd say it's a win you fews a bunch of little things. Them old speedometer do that when they set or don't get turned for long periods of time. That's such a great old car. Have a good one Buddy 👍
Thank you Don! Yep, it has been a long, long time since having the back of a speedo head open and this one is gummed up for sure! I hope you guys have a very Happy Father's Day Weekend and thanks for watching!
All that small stuff adds up.
Yep, that is for sure Nathan! The list kept growing and it was time to fix it all! Thanks for watching!
You’re a good son helping Howie out like that especially with the top quality workmanship, I’m sure he’ll be happy cruising in the ol 55 again! That’s a really nice car, awesome job as always Jeff! Enjoy the weekend!
Thank you Raymond! We had to move Howie into a specialty care home with his Parkinson's Disease. Our family is going there today to celebrate Father's Day with him and taking the '55. It will be nice to have it back and drivable again because I can take him out for drives in it again. Have a great Father's Day Weekend and thanks for watching!
Awe, so sorry about Howie but hope you all have an enjoyable Fathers Day celebration together and no doubt he’d be thrilled cruising in his 55 again! Every minute is a memory so enjoy them while you can. Happy Father’s Day to both you and Howie!
@@raymondantonio4145 Thank you Raymond and Happy Father's Day to you too!

Thank you Lonnie! It ran great today on the test drive with Howie! Thanks for watching and Happy Father's Day!
Very sorry to hear your Dad had to be moved. Hard decision to make. Hope you all have a nice visit
Thank you! It was a very hard decision to place him! Having the '55 done will mean more drives in the car with him now! Thanks for watching!
That thing runs awesome. That speedo head is sticking from hardened grease. That's why the cables wad up and break. The head needs the plug removed, carb cleaned, blown out, and re lubed. The new cable might already be fried though.
Thanks for that info Dan! It has been some years ago since having a speedo head out of the back of one of these. The last one I remembered was on my VW Bug, so it has been sometime! The repair should make a great how-to video later. I am waaay behindnon your videos and need to catch up! I think the last one I saw was after the rain had stopped and you were going over the plans for the new 2 door and 4 door that Randy had donated. You have been doing a great job getting some great cintent out, Steve's Hardtop is a favorite too! Have a great weekend Dan and thanks for watching!

Great video Jeff, sometimes the Speedo just needs taken apart cleaned and lubed, my speedo in the 55 junker truck jumps around a little too, I have a new speedo cable to put in when I clean the speedo. I knew you would break the tires loose on the test drive. 🫵🏼💯🆒
Thanks Steve! Yes, I don't like to break the tires loose in a residential area but, this thing is a beast and anytime you partially put your foot into it, it instantly lights the tires! It has been some years since cracking open the back of a speedo head and I think this will make a nice future how to video. Thanks for watching and have a great Father's Day Weekend!
There are some videos on it , it’s easy, and most the time they are just gummed up. Haff Rods channel has a video on it
@@rustedjunkgarage3316 I was just going through my Classic Chevy Club Tech Book and found the speedo restoration article to jog my memory. I will have to check out Haff's video also! Thanks for the info Steve and have a great weekend!
