  • Sarkareth was a character that not many said much about. I feel he is one of the better villains we've had in years!

i really like Sarkareth as well
One of the best things about his story I think is how, if you're a Dracthyr, you see his fall from grace from the very start
he goes from essentially being the one guy in every workplace who's always rude, standoffish, just generally kind of a jerk and downer to be around - but you still work with and respect him; to a depraved maniac leading his soldiers to their deaths chasing something after something that would've doomed them all no matter the outcome
however, you could argue that his obsession with claiming the dracthyr's legacy/birthright started as a coping mechanism for him processing Neltharion's death- all of his emotions, first being so adamant to defend the Froststone Vault where Raszageth was held (i believe he also referred to it as "this vault holds our [the dracthyr's] legacy, we will not let invaders claim it") and ultimately having to flee, then realizing that Neltharion was dead and as a result, his anger and hurt led to him disbanding the Ebon Scales and reforming them as the Sundered Flame
then, as time went on and the Sundered Flame discovered more and more across the Isles, Sarkareth's attachment to "their legacy" evolved into something more like a delusion as those whispers he kept hearing got to him (i believe the whispers officially started in Zaralek, but im pretty sure the Sundered Flame were finding all sorts of nasty artifacts and such along the way there) until any actual logic and reasoning behind it was eroded away, and instead he was blindly chasing those whispers without care for what happened to the rest of his weyrn
i may not have explained it the best, but overall I think his story was VERY well done! as you went along with the quests, you could see each encounter with him he took his actions one step further
there's also of course the personality difference between him and Emberthal, where Sarkareth embraced the brutality that Neltharion wanted for them whereas Emberthal actively struggles with it for the whole campaign
i can see some points where his ending scene in the Aberrus raid maybe felt too boring or too short, and to an extent I agree (not the part with Emberthal or the quests afterwards but the cutscene directly at the end of Sarkareth's fight)
but honestly i got very attached to all of the dracthyr, even the Sundered Flame, as I was playing the story and it felt very tragic - but very well-written
I love the dracthyr as a whole and Dragonflight's story has been wonderful so far, very grounded and emotional all around I feel; especially for some of the smaller storylines

Great comment! I never thought of his obssesseion with Nelthuarion being a coping mechanism. Great character!

I'm waiting for my daughter to turn up in the comments here as Sark's a real favourite of hers along with the other Dracthyr. I've grown fond of them too. You've done a great job describing him here. I've liked and subscribed! (edit for grammar).

Thank you very much for the support! He honestly became my favorite character in Dragonflight and an all time favorite villain + his VA knocked it out of the park!!

Dracthyr in general have been on of the most interesting races released. Way more than draenei but yellow, or silly foxes

I also really liked Sarkareth, i don't know why but in a strange way he gaved me ... arthas vibe ? i don't know why. But he his one of the best villain for sure we had in year im really sad he didn't had a redemption arc because i think he deserved more screen time because like Denatrius he had so much potential but never go it. As a dracthyr player i was even more into his arc because he his show at start.
I hope atleast like you said Dezren will pick up the Sundred flame in War within and we will see him or atleast emberthal because i think she his the most global one we see in the story.
Rip Sarkareth you where a great vilain
My life for Sarkareth and the Sundered Flame !
