    Fantastic review!
Love Marathon i own 5 a GSAR anthracite and a TSAR quartz which i love and think its worth every penny!
Im glad its on 20mm and the rubber strap is so comfortable.
I own a lot of military inspired tool watches but these are my favourite 👍

I will be eagerly waiting to see the result. This watch is on my radar so I watch every video I can. Interested to see what you get back from Marathon. I plan to use my watch while scuba diving, which I do a lot of, and I am curious what the service will be like if I tear it up or when the tritium fades. Enjoyed the video, looking forward to the follow-up.

Many thanks Chad. I'll get a video up once it gets back. Plenty more coming up in the meantime.

Really good video that, I love the fact that it’s been beaten to death and it’s getting saved, I find that very interesting indeed and can’t wait to see part 2 once it’s repaired.
Some funny bits of commentary in the video which made me laugh 😂
Being a fan of mil spec tool dive watches your watch taste sounds exactly the same as mine, I’ll check out your past videos to see what watches are on there, cheers mate, you’ve earned a new fan of the channel for sure 👍🏻

Got a GSAR Arctic yesterday. The tritium is brighter than I expected. I'm pleasantly surprised (so far).

I've got the Anthracite US Government model, love this watch and now my daily wear.

I have exactly the same watch, mine was manufactured nov 2012, tritium is still glowing but not as bright as it was, it gains around 7 seconds a day which I find acceptable, unsure of the water resistance but it does get wet and hasn’t failed me yet. Will be getting it sent off to marathon soon for a service as history is unknow. Did you contact heinie Haines or marathon direct? This is the watch I wear the most, I have others which cost a lot more but honestly around the kids and out and about this thing can take a beating. I have smacked it against a stone wall and suffered nothing more than a slight scratch on the bezel. It’s a great tool watch! And i think it’s a watch that looks cooler with a few scuffs and scrapes. 👍

Great to hear its still running great. I'm using marathon directly as there's just so much needing doing, and I'm hoping they can rescue at least the original hands.
      Thanks for the comment!

Hello mate, your video has just popped up, I actually had the GSAR about a year ago but I really didn’t like the smell of the strap at all, nice watch, way over priced I reckon, about a grand I think it was, I sent it back for the Nite Alpha, the GSAR is a very nice watch though, proper tool watch, if it was the same price bracket as the Nite Alpha around £400 I’d definitely have one, anyway I’ll watch the video 👍🏻….

Oh yours is secondhand, what I meant by the strap smell if you aren’t aware on the new
marathon SAR’s they impregnate the rubber with a sickly vanilla smell, god knows why, who on earth would want that 🤷🏻‍♂️ especially on a military job and you wrist stinks like a Mr Whippy! Honestly it’s just horrible and completely stupid of Marathon.

I as well as my son love the vanilla scent. During my 25 year stint in the U.S. Army you and your watch band can get very ripe smelling in a really short time. But every time I catch a waft of vanilla I smile and remember how disgusting my other bands would get. Seriously the stench would put me on my heels trying to escape the smell. My vanilla straps are a breath of fresh air and I search them out. But to each their own as we all like what we like or dislike.

Old video but I disagree on the quartz bit. The watch is still worth every bit of the price tag in quartz form. You’re buying it as a tool and quartz is about as no nonsense and reliable as it gets. Sure you have to worry about a battery every 3 years but it’s also more accurate.
Sure it doesn’t scratch the itch for those that love autos. But for guys like myself that want something reliable, accurate and tough as hell, the quartz option is hard to beat especially on sale. Besides, there are waaaaay better automatic options on the market with better movements for 1500 bucks.

any citizen eco drive out performs the quartz in terms of value while retaining the same quality.

Actually I had the TSAR (41mm) I first had the MSAR (36mm) which I think you’ve got but can’t really tell so far (I keep interrupting the vid ha ha) the MSAR was way too small and I ain’t exactly got big wrists! TSAR was much better size, right, back to the video…

Is a tool watch, it MUST BE quartz. Is all the contrary, you lose your money buying an automatic movement on a tool watch. The need to wind and set time for this watch every 3 days or so, is absurd. If I want a tool watch, I just want to put it on my wrist and get to work, with no winding or verification of time for accuracy, etc. In addition, the movement in these automatic Marathon watches looks to me like very cheap ones, the first year or two could run with a slightly above-mediocre accuracy (in comparison with any quartz) but after some years that will change a lot.
