      @@misterl7771 Recently, after reading some posts on the Fosi Audio forum, some suggested to put in an op amp in the right channel as well. That did not yield good results for me. While the power output seems to increase (without turning the knob all the way clockwise), my Subwoofer output was suffering. No matter how I crank the volume higher on my active sub, the bass signal seems weak and unable to produce the degree of bass when I only had one op amp in the XLR DIP8 socket. Therefore, I revert to running the monos with only 1 op amp in the XLR socket. That's it!

      @@RyanChooTry to upgrade to Sparkos SS3602’s, their Pro or Burson V7 opamps. Muses02 is just another version of 5532 IC (integrated circuit) opamp chips, they don’t have capacitors in them. Discrete component opamps do, hence an improvement in sound. It will cost a price of another ZA3 for your application.. 😉 But in my experience the whole audio system goes through a transformation, my initial reaction was - did my speakers just quadruple in size? Not over-exaggerating either ... 😅🤷‍♂️ Good luck!

    Hey Greg! I love you A/B test. Switching quickly between devices is the better way for me to hear the comparisons, I try to stay with the same tones and notes to hear the differences... Perhaps I just can't hear what you hear in your room, but you and me are often out of sink on the choices you audition; I don't have headphones that's got to be a big factor.... I DO love your music selection. You provide a balanced cross-genre array of songs; I have watched many of your videos several time to just hear the songs you play; my system is down now so I'm using you lol. As for this video, I was wanting the EverSolo to prevail being that it's pretty and cost a bunch more, but I think you and me may finally have concurred on this test. I actually couldn't hear the difference between the Ever. and the Fosi's I have two of the Fosi's going into my new setup.... amongst the great sound they produce for the price, I am taking advantage of their ability to dip into 2 Ohms. I have a hybrid DIY speaker set that's dipping to 3.4 Ohms, so I need the extra insurance. UA-camr: Williston Audio Labs tested the Fosi's @ 2 Ohms and they held strong without a flinch.
    Hey, I'm still hoping for some dimension and build info on you little test 4" speakers, I'm want to play around with those 4" full-range units you tested a while back, I need a decent functional box like you used... I grabbed the Visaton B100's. Also, would you list out the artist on you music if you can, I'd like to grab them off the internet or marketplace? Thanks Greg!

      I tried the dual Fosi v48’s in mono mode and for high impedance speakers they just can’t hack it, my F2 drives them and provides an amazing sound I like bass and a crisp high so possibly that is my bias but what wasn’t debatable is the Fosi can’t power difficult speakers like the F2 can. I have revival Audio Atlante 3’s and the Fosi could not drive the cone enough to give any bass

      A pure power Amp vs a hybrid without a proper pre section pairing.. The obvious issue is easy to see without a proper pre. Please do this again. The F2 might have its limitations, but nah. This isn't how you do this.. Just check the P3 review someone else did and have a laugh. The amps tested there sounded the same he said. Yeah uuuhm, using a pre that hit it's ceiling before the better amp was barely used isn't how you do this. Sorry.. Next time doing tests like this you use equipment beyond the amps quality so there is no chance they influence the results. Love the speakers tho

    Hello, I really like your videos and your excellent sound recording work and I think you would be better heard if you also shared, with a link in your comments, your audio files on a sharing site where we could download them to listen directly without the bad filters of youtube! A short silence, for example, separating the 2 amps to allow us to identify each other, but we can also identify the youtube timecode and note it down to know when it's one amp or the other.
    Indeed, when I listened to sound samples from your tests between the DMP-A6 and DMP-A6 Master Edition, I clearly heard a difference in volume in favor of the ME, and for those who listen, a small difference of 0.2 DB makes the loudest listening always better!
    after several steps, I recovered your sounds in my studio one software, and curiously enough, I no longer found any difference in sound, so I was able to listen freely. But this remains with compression and other youtube optimizations nonetheless. what do you think?

    The eversolo has got a somewhat low input impedance at 11k ohms. Beware if you have a tube preamp with higher output impedance, you may run into a lack of bass. The Fosi wins it for me here though, easily. More dense, airier, longer decay, mids have body, great bass.

Or does that get disabled and it functions as a power amp and not integrated when you put them in dual mono mode ? Thank you. :)

    I own a ZA3 and while I do enjoy it, one thing that is a real problem for me is Clipping and the shutdown that follows. It's being reported by many reviewers, yet I didn't hear any mention of it in your review? If you turn the volume up, it routinely shuts down. I like the sound with the SparkOS Upgrade when it works. Check out my sparks za3 video. You can remove all opamps and except for the one that is needed in the mono mode. Also if possible I also recommend using XLR over RCA for best sound. If you remove all unnecessary opamps they don't draw the current from the opamp power supply circuit making it more headroom for the opamp that is left ;)

    Hello, thank you for this comparison.
    Since I couldn't discern any differences between the amps from the video, even with headphones, the question is whether there is sense in investing cca 900 EUR into the Eversolo F2 Vs. investing cca 500 EUR in two ZA3s with upgraded op-amps?
    Also, I understand that the new 2x V3 monoblock amp + 48V/10A power supply bundle will be available soon for less than 300 EUR. I understood that the V3 has the same sound signature as the ZA3, so I'm wondering if that would be a viable alternative to an F2?

    There is a problem with passive preamplifiers, they usually have the same input and output impedance and this is the impedance of the device, the potentiometer. This gives us a very high output impedance that can not accommodate the high impedance of the power amplifier. Usually, this impedance is 10 Kohm to 50 Kohm which is very high (unless the designer uses output transformers to lower the output impedance). These Fosi ZA3 are indeed very good!

      Fosi Za 3 sounds better because the tones are more present and the sound structure lives and breathes better in the music.
      Eversolo Amp f2 sounds vaguer and does not separate the tones from each other, but rather packs them into the same package and the sound is more one-dimensional.

    Interesting comparison. But wouldn't turning the the volume up all the way on the stock ZA3 eliminate the NE5532 preamp chip altogether, or would it just eliminate the volume control contribution to the sound? If full volume eliminates the NE5532, why not just insert a good tube preamp to add some soul, some flesh and blood feelings to the sterile leaning class D amp?

    • @VirtualHiFi
      @VirtualHiFi  7 місяців тому

      Turning the volume knob to max just kinda shortens the potentiometer not the opamp path. Yes adding preamp will also change the sound, but still even with a preamp youll have not the best opamps in the amp circuit. ;)

    • @geevee1045
      @geevee1045 7 місяців тому

      Yes, you're right. A tube preamp would be playing through a second preamp, namely the NE5532. So even if the NE5532 was a good preamp chip, it's still in the circuit along with the tube preamp I suggested. Changing the opamp is the best solution. Now, if only we can find cheaper opamps that perform as well as the Sparkos for less money. Thx.@@VirtualHiFi

    • @VirtualHiFi
      @VirtualHiFi  7 місяців тому +4

      I'm in the Class D for a very long time and I had multiple Hypex, Icepowers, Purifi, AGD Gaan and many other chip amps over many years. I believe the most interesting at the moment is FOSI ZA3 in Dual Mono with rolled Opams. I now have the Sparkos but will do a Opamp Rolling video Soon.
      Yesterday I had a chance to breifly listen to the Fosi against Gryphon Diablo 333 and D'Agostino Progression 350. Both were using Gryphon Essence as a preamp. And with the Qualio IQ I'd both the Diablo and Fosi (withouth the preamp) had their advantages, with Fosi being the most dybnamic and with the biggest pump, and the gryphon was a bit more relaxed and still very good and I could happily live with it. The D'Agostino was a bit too harsh on the midrange and it's bass while powerfull had one dominating tone which wasn't great. Basically I'd say Fosi vs Diablo - matter of taste. Fosi vs D'agostino - well Fosi Clearly wins.
      And we are talkoing about 600$ vs 50'000k$ here :)

      How does the base and lower end compare? Did you try with different speakers? My experience with Fosi amps, BT 30 d PRO and V3, is a very lacking lower end with V3 and flabby with BT 30 d Pro and is why I'm not buying into the Za3 nor V3 mono hype. The PA 3 pre amp is muddy and really bad and shouldn't been bought even if low budget. Yes I have upgraded the tube on it.. Buying op amps more expensive then the actual amp is something for especially interested people since when you add that cost there is way way better amps avail. Used with XTZ 99.25 beryllium kit hey don't compare to an old Cambridge A640 azure sound wise so that means they are irrelevant for a living room. Yes that is when put into my higher end setup with a proper pre amp. PEQ and high end room correction adjusting doesn't change that because the amps sound anemic. Now F2 might have limitations in sound stage similar to Za3 but do you really say this is similar ? I will add that power ratings of Fosi is well known bullsh. Are the F2 the same ? Fosi are great for your desktop or kitchen system..

    Fosi ZA3s sound much better for me, but how would evaluate the soundstage depth produced by them? I'm asking since I'm going to return my ZA3s due to almost completely flat soundstage. Maybe the op-amps roll would improve it, but the result with the standard op-amps is so bad I don't want to invest more time. Just to be precise - depth is the problem, width of the soundstage is ok,

    • @34332

      Depth compared to what? Soundstage depth is usually provided by placement of speakers, type of speakers (pointsource for example), room acoustics, distance to walls, reflections, dispersion. What source do you use, quality recordings, etc. I use the standard ZA3's and Wharfedale Lintons, MiniDSP Flex/Dirac as pre and WiiM as streamer. No lack of depth at all.

    Such clips, for which I thank @VirtualHiFi, are extremely useful because they offer a lot of very useful information and draw our attention to some quality products. But here is a lot to discuss here. For a fair comparison, a single Fosi or two F2s should have been used in bridge mode, and obviously the passive amplifier also raises many question marks. Also, if on a certain system Mr X thinks Fosi sounds better, on another system Mr Y might like F2 more. I didn't listen to Fosi, but I listened to F2 and I liked it a lot. I can't say that I heard any difference and in general I think that you can reach definitive conclusions only by listening to the live system and not on UA-cam clips.

    • @RyanChoo
      @RyanChoo 7 місяців тому +2

      Fosi ZA3 only sounds good when used as monoblocks and with 48V power supply with op amps rolled. This comparison is fair and should suffice to give you an inkling as to how they sound. Listening with IEMs, you can hear their differences quite distinctly. We definitely are not listening out for audio fidelity on UA-cam because you would never want to do that to decide on buying one for your sound system. But, I did so! 🤣 The Fosi ZA3 is exceptional! Please ignore the pricing and get 1, no 2 to try!

    Thanks for much anticipated video, the amps are close in sound reproduction. But the Eversolo has much bigger better sound stage and the vocals sound more natural and easy to listen to than the Fosi. The Fosi has a more pronounced treble bordering a bit on the harsh side. Fosi will be more suited to system lacking the treble energy. I know Fosi is very cheap, then again the cheap sound. My advice would be to use tube line stage and you will get closer to a high end system.

    • @RyanChoo
      @RyanChoo 7 місяців тому +2

      The Fosi ZA3 is not cheap sounding just because it is cheap and you heard it on UA-cam to make this opinion. Knowing who bought and heard them in their systems and you will have to retract your statement. My dealer who delivers my new ATC SCM19 was in shock that the ZA3s could drive them and sounded very fine. Price is deceptive and never let anyone tell you that you need an amp of a certain price range to match your speakers. This is a new era of high fidelity!

      I've had the experience over the years comparing brands and offering from up to $1000 from each brands such as Onkyo, Yamaha, pioneer and Marantz.
      Offerings from below $500 from brands such as Emotiva, Aiyima, SMSL and custom designs with different topologies such as class D chip based from Texas instruments, Analog devices and infineon and why not, the classic Teipath chips.
      Haven't heard any modules from Gan, Ice power or Hypex or purifi....
      I have a good amount of Tube preamps modules and currently own a tube amplifier.
      Lately I've been playing with Class AB with discrete input design and tube buffers. This sounds really good.
      The Tube amplifier sounds Best of most of my implementations, however, Class AB with buffer's beats the tube amplifier in dynamics region and resolution.
      Having said that, my class D Analog devices implementation has been a long time favorite of mine, i listen to it daily as well to my clas AB with Tube buffers more than my expensive Tube amplifier.
      Just because is class D doesn't mean is inferior to Tube amplifiers or ones that cost several times more ... At the end is all about how well you implement it and taste.
