This actually seems like a good concept for a game show from its time. Would have been interesting to see some concept art for what sort of set and props that they would have had if they shot a pilot. And let's give it up for Mr. Kennedy (RIP), he's such a natural and was able to emcee as if he had been hosting the show for years.
This is better than the two versions of charades Tom came up with. Buzzing in first right away seems to be a hinderance, especially on the numerical questions.
Is this from a production company that Tom Kennedy owned because this game and the one before that have the same production values? By the way, I think the alternate endgame was the better fit.
Now, I would have ordered 2 pilots, to test both bonus rounds, because both are very good. I would tell Tom to find a new name for the prize markers, unless he was planning on using some kind of scoring indicator. Overall, I had fun watching it, and Tom was having a ball with the variety of questions (another plus). The music at the end happens to be a favorite stock piece from my teen years. Very Score Productions like.
Had a bit more potential than the Celebrity Go-Round, but I imagine everything was a tougher sell by the late 80s. Tom was definitely still trying to get back on after Wordplay dropped and wasn't ready to hang it up.

19:07; It looks like Kris should get over $10,000 in prizes in Tom Kennedy's run "Words & Phrases."

"Just a spoonful of sugar m̱̱a̱̱ḵ̱e̱̱s̱̱ ṯ̱ẖ̱e̱̱ c̱̱a̱̱ḻ̱o̱̱ṟ̱i̱̱e̱̱s̱̱ g̱̱o̱̱ u̱̱p̱̱" sounds like a blooper from "Whew!"
Seems like you should never be the first person to buzz in.
That looks a lot like the same Kris who just was giving clues to Tom Poston on the Game Show Quickie Winker just posted ....
Kris Mowry of the infamous $0 Pyramid Winners Circle with Tom Poston strikes again!
