I think bringing Joe back as guest vocalist was a test to see how much had recovered from blowing his voice a decade ago and Luke remained good friends with him afterwards. I almost shouted Jerry Jerry! as he looked like Jerry Springer at the time.
What I noticed here is that he tried to sing the song like the album and he's clearly struggling. It could also be too poor monitoring on stage this also makes it difficult to sing but yeah I can hear that he def did strain his voice here and the cocaine use did a real number on his voice, however today he sounds better than he's ever been.
@@SAJMusicWorks I have browsed through Joseph ‘s past concerts when he was younger, as well as this video, and I noticed that his performance doesn't match the quality of the studio recordings. However, I was unaware of this because the sound I've been hearing all along was from his recent live concerts, where his voice sounds amazing. It's remarkable and rare to see his singing improve as he ages, and I find it to be a truly inspiring story.
@@user-zg9jn5us1m Vocals chords are a muscle, if you dont use them right and treat them right they will fail to deliver. However it can be rehabilitated. Joseph stated in an interview that he was not good at taking care of his voice, especially in the early days by Smoking cigarettes and using drugs and flat out not using proper singing technique. Today he has developed these skills thanks to vocal coaching and aswell as we all know gotten rid of all the bad habits. With enough care and the right guidance vocals can recover. And Joseph is honestly a great example that losing your voice does not mean it wont come back, Infact it came back sounding better than ever. His early live concerts weren't that great... maybe the first few shows he sounded decent, but that can't compare with him today, Sometimes you simply do improve with age. If we look at another case of a vocalist losing their voice is Bon Jovi.... He has been struggling bad, but it does not mean he cannot reverse his downspiraling trend. He might make a return soon sounding better than ever.
I’ve seen Toto 4 times from the span of 2014-2023 and he sounds phenomenal now. I think at this point in time he wasn’t as active in music as far as touring/using his voice consistently. Vocals are like any other instrument; if you don’t practice it, you’ll lose momentum. He doesn’t sound bad, just sounds rusty. He also said in recent years upon returning to Toto full-time, he started working with a vocal coach. That probably helped him out quite a bit in finding his voice again.
Joe looking (and singing...) as if he were the bands bookkeeper - unhappy at stage. Fortunately we all know now he made a succesful comeback later in time...and still going strong💪.
yup. Joe sadly tried too hard in the wrong way in terms of vocal technique singing this song. He tried to do it all in a chest voice which caused him end up sounding flat on the upper notes.
This video is gold! Joseph with Bobby on stage together! Is a full concert of this night to be found anywhere? To be honest I think Joseph looked and sounded peak in 2013 in that 35th anniversary show. This is a great watch though. Thanks
He bloody nails the vocals!
What a great voice and band performance! But here Joe looks like he will repair your computer and improve your antivirus after the show.
😂😂😂
Lol😂
😂
😂😂 Looks nerdy!
😂😂😂😂
Such greatness on 1 stage... It's unbelievable! ❤

luke's guitar tone's crazy.!!
Steve Porcaro nos teclados e Mike Porcaro no baixo !!!❤
The entire band looks like they are celebrating the launching of Windows 98
Hahahahaahahahahah true
No, Brian Eno wasn't involved. Read up on history...
Oh my that’s hilarious as hell. 😅
Steve Lukather looking like 2003 era John Petrucci
This was 10 years after Joseph was fired due to cocaine use. And after all those years he still did not get his voice back here

Joe parece uno de los personajes de The Office
God, my throat hurts just watching this.

As time and voice goes by….
Best version ever. Thanks. Can you post also 40-60 sec intro Luke played here? 🙂
Joe looks like he's won a competition I think they were impressed how his voice was still there with no practice
Simon philips on the drums❤
Isn't he amazing?!?

All good I found the full concert. Shit quality but beggars cant be choosers! I love Toto.
Holy fuck they're good
He sounds absolutely fantastic in 2023. Just needed a slightly less heavy technique...
A bad day at work ... it sounds better nowadays!
Joseph looks much better there. He doesn’t need this hat and silly sunglasses and the redicilious raincoat
that's my ole school teacher
I had no idea Bill Gates could sing like that
Joseph Williams sounds so
Great 😊
Great song, but he sings off key quite a lot unfortunately...
Joe probably wishes he still looked like that, computer repairman or not
War das auf Kirmes? Alle Musiker sternhagelvoll.
Not one of joes better efforts.
Can't hear..omg
What? Bill Gates
He looks like Jerry Springer!
That’s what I thought too 😂
Then when he rejoined the band in 2010 he looked like Horatio Caine
🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Gruselig nur mit Joseph passt das
Fallait pas qu’il chante ☹️
C'était une étape nécessaire pour remettre sa voix en place je pense. Il tente des trucs complexes des fois, dans ce live et ça a fini par payer ...
So bad.He looked drunk😫
