    • @joowsty
      @joowsty Рік тому +12

      yep he has to ride this way otherwise in 20 times they ride to the finish together, pogacar will beat him 19 times in the sprint, giving away huge bonus seconds each time, while if its a peloton finish pogacar wont get the bonus seconds. the way vingegaard beats pogacar is on long climbs by riding away from him.

    • @christianmatheron6444
      @christianmatheron6444 Рік тому +19

      @@joowsty I think this is largely contingent on Jonas’s team riding flawlessly. I don’t believe this is possible if Tadej is supported by a team of strong climbers. Jonas sat on Pogacar’s wheel for much of his Tour debut and was unable to attack apart from one moment in Ventoux. Last year, Roglic broke Pogacar on Galibier allowing Jonas to take full advantage later on in the stage. Credit to him, he took full advantage. This year might see a smarter Pogacar ride more conservatively as he did in 2020. He didn’t chase attack after attack. I think it will be a travesty if he is let down on the mountains this year. I expect him to have strong support in the final three kilometres allowing him to make a difference in the final kilometre.

      Pogi is hands down the strongest rider in a head to head. You need to bring an entire team and some small miracles to beat him, which happened last year at TDF. It‘s just a rider type thing. Pog is not the classic GC rider, he is more like a supercharged puncheur with superb lactate clearance. To take the bonus seconds away from him, Jumbo would have needed a Wout or Laporte as support. But maybe they are starting here without them on purpose to optimise strategy for the tour and see how they can make it work without Rog.

Not quite same punch of prime Julian but he can maintain effort for so long the thresholds these guys have only gilbert, purito ,valverde maybe back in day come to mind but so many athletic puncheurs in todays peloton. TTT with new rule could be race for Tadej hes going to be in the wind a while but hilly stages should suit him and climbs are too few and too small I think to wear down Tadej for Jonas but who know thats why this is such an early season treat. Spot on accurate in your read and great editing or timing to footage. 👌Jumbo would love a PN,Tirreno double leading into what should be really successful classics campaign. When is the last time you have seen a sprint without people being in the draft?
      Being ahead also gives you the advantage of being ahead. That is why being in the draft dosn't mean you win automatically.
      And my point still stands. Outside of mellier, who got the perfect position, Pedersen was again Micrometers, and literal microseconds from overtaking Bennet. That is fast.
      And he got locked out of his preferred line in the swing.
      Please dont assume I haven't probably watched cycling for longer then you. And I know I know, dosn't make anyone right they have watched something for longer. I generally assume you know more then me about alot of cycling related stuff.

      More punchy? Yes. More intelligent? No. That was how he lost the Tour. He got outsmarted by Jonas and Jumbo-Visma. Vingegaard and Pogacar are two very different type of riders, both great. Pogacar would go on anything, Jonas is more calculating. It is very much brain vs brawn in my opinion.
