Two Great riders these Boyz but it seems Vinnergard is more of a follower whilst Podgocar is an attacker...for me Pog is the most exciting racer the Sport has ever seen...🙏

yep he has to ride this way otherwise in 20 times they ride to the finish together, pogacar will beat him 19 times in the sprint, giving away huge bonus seconds each time, while if its a peloton finish pogacar wont get the bonus seconds. the way vingegaard beats pogacar is on long climbs by riding away from him.
@@joowsty I think this is largely contingent on Jonas’s team riding flawlessly. I don’t believe this is possible if Tadej is supported by a team of strong climbers. Jonas sat on Pogacar’s wheel for much of his Tour debut and was unable to attack apart from one moment in Ventoux. Last year, Roglic broke Pogacar on Galibier allowing Jonas to take full advantage later on in the stage. Credit to him, he took full advantage. This year might see a smarter Pogacar ride more conservatively as he did in 2020. He didn’t chase attack after attack. I think it will be a travesty if he is let down on the mountains this year. I expect him to have strong support in the final three kilometres allowing him to make a difference in the final kilometre.
Except TJV slipped up badly by letting Pog win the intermediate sprint and get 6 bonus secs. There is another such sprint near the end of tomorrow’s stage and I hope TJV have a plan to stop Pog winning that.
Pogi is hands down the strongest rider in a head to head. You need to bring an entire team and some small miracles to beat him, which happened last year at TDF. However, if Pogi plays his cards just a little smarter, and doesn't fall for baits and has even a mediocre team behind him, yea i dont really see anyone beating him
It‘s just a rider type thing. Pog is not the classic GC rider, he is more like a supercharged puncheur with superb lactate clearance. To take the bonus seconds away from him, Jumbo would have needed a Wout or Laporte as support. But maybe they are starting here without them on purpose to optimise strategy for the tour and see how they can make it work without Rog.
In hindsight, were jumbo better off launching the sprint climb and reducing the field, then maybe Jonas gets some bonus seconds. I know he doesn’t get the win over POG but limits the damage.

Not quite same punch of prime Julian but he can maintain effort for so long the thresholds these guys have only gilbert, purito ,valverde maybe back in day come to mind but so many athletic puncheurs in todays peloton. TTT with new rule could be race for Tadej hes going to be in the wind a while but hilly stages should suit him and climbs are too few and too small I think to wear down Tadej for Jonas but who know thats why this is such an early season treat. Quick Step broke the peloton on a windy, corner-y section, there were about 4 of them in a group of 10, even Jakobsen was dropped. In the end Sénéchal broke away with Trentin, because in the absence of leadout guys, the stronger riders had the upper hand. But here it was just a couple of hundred meters, there were still leadouts who were going all out and a straightish road. No one can do it on this level.
Yep. We all have been told that Pog's peaks are longer than most of his competitors. If Jonas is very close to him this week, LOOKOUT, Pog will be in big trouble in July.

pog defo the most entertaining gc rider ever. i also used to not like vingagoo, this fishy rabo rider (no pun intended) but more i watch them race the more i started liking jonas and started liking pogi less and less.
Jonas is the Gentleman. I remember how he waited for POG last year when he crashed in the mountains
