Listen to Angelina's version of "Born to Die". I had never heard the song before and I loved it. When I listened to the original singer's version of the same song, I actually knew I liked Angelina's version more. I guarantee. You will be pleasantly shocked. Angelina is absolutely special and her talents are without a doubt, God-given. Imagine a 7-year old who is not only able to sing well, but she's brilliant enough to create her own style in addition to that. It is almost impossible to imagine that. I don't think there has been another child like her in the world ever. We may never see this again in our life.

- Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 14
- She began singing at the age of one and a half
- At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos.
- *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help.
Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person.
- She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the whole show at just 8 years old.
- In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes"
- When Angelina was 9 years old she became the youngest published author in Norway, when she wrote a book about the story of why she doesn't wear shoes when she sings. She donated proceeds from the sales of the book to help children in need.
- The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. After she won NGT, they did not want her to be thrust into stardom before she had a chance to grow up as a normal child, and get her education. They allowed her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that came in. Over the years since NGT, they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney.
- Angelina has covered more than 130 songs and over 65 artists in the last 6 years. She always selects the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else)
- Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, Alan Walker and many more. All of which heard her and were blown away by her talent.
- Angelina has written four of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield", "Oslo", and "Million Miles" (all are amazing...all can be found on youtube)
In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a beautiful world in my head", and you can always hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music.
Update: On Aug 26, 2020 Angelina's Manager/Uncle announced in an interview that they have decided on Republic Records as the best fit for Angelina and she is now signed with them as their "highest priority new artist". On Nov 6 she has released her first single under Republic... "Million Miles"! She has done so much already, but at 14 she is just getting started!!!

She has a unique voice and the ability to adapt it to each song she interprets and make it her own.
There are some 150 videos of her on UA-cam and Couple of months ago, after refusing all invitations over the years, she finally signed with Republic Records and a couple of weeks ago she released her first single with them, her own original "Million Miles", with two versions, the official lyrics video and live studio. This song is dedicated to her grandfather, that passed away, and to anyone that has lost a loved one.

Merry Christmas! Angelina is as genuine and generous as she appears. When Angelina was six years old she met a homeless girl about the same age who had scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own shoes and performs barefoot to bring attention to the plight of the homeless.

Dear Sabina, Angelina started studying music at 18 months. When she was 6 she was with her grandmother visiting another country & came upon a homeless girl trying to make some money in the street who had no shoes, The girl complimented Angelina's shoes, which were her favorite pair. Angelina took her shoes off & gave them to the girl & vowed to always perform barefoot until every child in the world has shoes. She also recorded her first song, I Who Have Nothing at 6. She actually recorded I Put A Spell On You in 2015 just after she turned 9 on January 10th but it wasn't released until 2016. As far as her outfit that you mentioned, It is her grandmother artist's art transferred to fabric then Angelina used it to make the outfit like she makes all of her own clothes. She also does her own musical arrangements.(That is what she was doing with the pen before the first song). The Million Miles song you mentioned is her first song since signing with Republic Records. It is a tribute to her grandfather that passed away recently. The music school in Norway taught her everything they could so now she is attending school in Los Angeles. Angelina jordan is always barefoot when she is singing. When she was about seven years old she meet a poor kid on the street who didn't have any shoes. So she gave her's shoes to the kid. And in this moment she decided to not wearing any shoes on stage until every child has shoes.
She has an old soul and a beautiful heart.

With all the things going on 2020 Angelina Jordan became a place for me to calm down and feel warm again. Many of their songs still give me goosebumps, even though I've heard them many times before. And a plus is watching others experience Angelina for the first time.
A Million Miles was written by Angelina. The lyric video artwork was done by her and her grandmother and is her first release under Republic Records.
"I Put A Spell On You" was based on the original by Screamin' Jay Hawkins. That was his face on the candle she was holding at the beginning. There is a Y.Tube video of him performing it on the Arsenio Hall Show. Before covering more of her later songs, it would be good to go back to her performance of Billie Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday" on Norway's Got Talent when she was 7 yrs. old (the one with Eng.subs for the judges' interactions with her). She grew up singing along with her grandmother's jazz collection, and that was her grandmother who they showed standing up first at A.G.T..
I have followed Angelina Jordan (last name Astar) since she began. When she was very young, she travelled and saw children with no shoes. She gave her shoes to a poor child and decided to go barefoot until she could help more. Fun facts: Angelina arranges her songs, composes, and the outfit she wore was made from her grandmother's art, which was printed on fabric. Angelina is a true original, and her grandfather (Japanese and a jazz lover who recently passed away) introduced her to greats like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and other great singers. Her Grandmother made the outfit she wore on AGT. She was 9 two weeks before she recorded, I put a Spell on You. Queen was so impressed they have it put it up on their website. I cry openly every time I hear her NGT show Proformances. And yes many, many people say she relaxes them when she sings and they could listen to her endlessly.

I Put a Spell on You - a remarkable performance for any age.
Oddly enough this is probably the best Christmas yet. After 8 years of irreconcilable differences I told my man and his ex to stop this nonsense and we got my step son in our lives and had our first Christmas as a whole family. So yeah, I'm very thankful to have that to hold on to in 2020.

Wonderful first time reactions to the Angel Sabina, appreciate it. Your first assumptions of this young lady as a kind and humble person are correct. You read the comments regarding the no shoes and why, also know that she has performed in many many charitable events around the globe to raise money for children charities and has literally raised millions for that purpose. She donated her entire winnings from NGT to charity at age 8. Angelina is not only unbelievably talented but just a wonderful human being. If you decide to check out her new release of Million Miles (age 14) there are 2 versions, the lyric video came first with art work by her and her famous Iranian artist Grandmother, Mery Zamani. The second is a live studio version which is incredible as she always sings with such emotion. Million Miles is about the loss of her paternal Grandfather who passed in 2019, but the song speaks volumes to anyone who suffered loss in their lives and so appropriate for the messed up year, 2020. The jazzy feel you hear in her voice is from listening to and studying the Jazz greats which her Grandma exposed her to at age one and a half. There is a whole lot of jazz in her earlier videos, especially the NGT competition at age 7-8. I Put a Spell on You she is 9.

They are incredible, as well, ans aew just as good live as on vinyl. I do, however, agree with a previous comment you made that you're going with the studio versions most of the time. You never really know what you're going to get live. However, in this instance, live if simply amazing. While Dimash can hit notes that don't exist on the keyboard, Angelina makes you FEEL the music far more than any other vocalist. While ALL other vocalists rely on life experiences to convey emotion, Angelina was born with that talent and therefore stands ALONE. SABINA you made great observations about the type of person Angelina is. As talented as she is, she is an even better human being. Here is the story why she always performs barefoot.
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina befriended this girl who was wearing soiled clothing and no shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina so moved by the poor girl, took off her favorite sea green ankle boots and gave them to the poor shoeless girl. Angelina promised the girl she would perform barefoot until every child on Earth has shoes. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East.
The outfit has the artwork that her Grandmother drew to illustrate the book Angelina published at age 9 about a meeting with a poor orphan girl and why she always sings barefoot to bring awareness to needy kids. She had helped raise millions for kids charities. Her Grandmother is a famous Iranian poet and painter. She played jazz for Angelina since she was an infant. She started singing at 1 1/2 years old. Angelina is said to have sewn the outfit she wore.

She was 7 when she first auditioned for NGT and 8 when she won. Then 9 when she paid homage to the originator of I Put a Spell on You - Screaming Jay Hawkins. That's his likeness on the candle at the beginning. There are some youtube videos of his outre' performances in the 1950s-60s or so. She has performed this song since but not in this manner, providently for her voice.
When the front row of the AGT audience is shown several times, that is her family, grandmother, ...I think it's her mother next, then her younger sister, then her uncle/manager. Jazz was her grandmother's early influence on her; Angelina made her AGT Bohemian Rhapsody outfit of fabric printed with some of her grandmother's art work (more of her artwork featured in Angelina's book about why she sings barefoot and in her first video release of Million Miles).

Sabina, this "I Put a Spell on You" video was not released publicly until 2016 when she was 10. But she was actually just barely 9 years old when she did this performance! She will be 15 in a few days on January 10th. You can actually find videos of her singing at the age of 6 in a professional sound studio ("Hurt," "Rolling in the Deep," and "I Who Have Nothing")! She was born in Oslo, Norway, which makes this even more incredible, since English is not even her primary language. She speaks Norwegian, Farsi (Mid-Eastern dialect; her grandmom is Iranian), English, a little Swedish (her dad is Swedish), and a little Japanese (her granddad that her new "Million Miles" song is about was Japanese). She has always sung barefooted (even in freezing outdoor weather!), and there is a wonderful, heart-melting story behind the reason why she does that. She even wrote and published a book about it at the age of nine (same year she did this "Spell" video), making her the youngest published author in Norway's history. She's helped to raise over $22 million dollars for underprivileged children and other humanitarian causes. She has a voice of liquid gold, and a heart and character of pure solid gold!

For your first reaction to Angelina, watching I Put a Spell on You is like throwing you in the deep end of the pool. It’s Angelina intentionally creating an over-the-top style in tribute to Screamin Jay Hawkins, who performed this in the 50’s in an even more over-the-top way. It’s a one-off performance for Angelina, but shows her amazing ability to cover many genres so authentically. Angelina fans lovingly refer to this performance as Angelina in beast mode.
She sings straight from her heart to yours, whether she’s in a room with just an acoustic guitar or in front of thousands of fans. She is the best interpreter of lyrics I’ve ever heard, often covering songs by famous singers. As in Bohemian Rhapsody, the songs take on new life and meaning, and you realize often that Angelina has just given you your favorite version. A suggestion: watch her acoustic cover of Adele’s A Million Years Ago to hear Angelina’s beautiful low register and her ability to live the lyrics so genuinely that the original version pales in comparison. She is the best singer I’ve ever heard.
