I don't know which Indian Village school that lady was talking about. Even In a state like Bihar, we have smart classes in every government school. And they do know how to read a sentence in Hindi if not in English.
The point is that the education is behind the rest of the developed world. Even in Bangalore there is a vast difference between the kids that attend the poorly funded government schools compared to the wealthy private schools. During Covid, in my experience with grand kids in both private and government schools, there was very little on line education, except for kids in classes that had to sit exams. Most was handled by smart phone apps which have tiny screens, and poor audio. The better private schools did offer full K-12 online classes, supporting laptops, phones and tablets. Indian schools are improving, but they are not world class yet, so the point is that education will drive the economy, and a strong education system is key to future growth. The fact that apple subcontractors assemble phones in India is of little comfort as only 4% of the value of a phone is in assembly. The government gives a 6% PLI subsidy to the assembler, so the subcontractors make 2% by assembling phones. Since the phones are sold in India, the government makes the money back on tax, and people get jobs. Works great, but you cannot build a strong economy this way.
@@barryobrien1890 AAP govt is doing much better in education. Hope all govt learn some lessons from them and improve education in their respective states.
@@barryobrien1890 I did understand the point and where she was coming from but when you are speaking in a foreign media house, you can be more specific about the problems. People make perceptions easily. From where I come from, I do think the government has invested a lot in education. It can be better but now the government is at least trying to cope up with foreign education. It's just so easy to randomly Criticise everything but when you go and see it by yourself, it's totally a different story.

Exports is not the only base to show the progress.
Indian population is big enough to ensure domestic sales to disallow exports.
So how do you grow an economy without exports. Where does the growth come from. Do poor farmers suddenly become rich and buy Tata SUV's, and therefore the Tata workers then earn enough to buy expensive food from the farmers. Do Indian billionaires eat so much food they spread their wealth to the agricultural population. Historically growth comes from the movement of wealth from one place to another. Japan and now China have become very successful by manufacturing for the world. Germany is the low cost manufacturer for Europe, partly due to its low cost energy from Russia, and its Industrial capital investment. The USA is very wealthy, because of its exports, Its global banking, and its ability to leverage low cost manufacturing in Asia to support its domestic market. In the past Britain became very wealthy by exporting expensive manufactured goods to its colonies and the world, while importing cheap raw materials from the same colonies.
@@barryobrien1890
I DO NOT DISAGREE WITH YOUR VIEWS.
At this moment Indian economy is about to Produce the quantity to cater its own domestic markets.
The international take off in the automobile sector will take place in forthcoming years. Though some of the major indian players are already exporting.
In two wheeler segment Indian companies have made their mark first domestically and then in exports already.
This will be repeated in 4 wheeler segment too
@@hemalbhatt4055 sadly due to lack of competition, there is no incentive for Indian car companies to grow or innovate outside India which is critical for job growth. India was no1 in motorcycles but now China has passed it. Exports are critical for job growth and India has been building for the domestic market for years, but lacked the ambition to export. India is rapidly losing the ev race despite being the 3rd largest car market, only tata has a domestic ev and it's pretty basic, with plans for new versions in 2025 from Mahendra. BYD, Tesla, VW and Toyota will be major global players by then. There is some innovation in new startup escooters, but India's big conglomerates are way too slow and conservative to lead India into the future.
@@barryobrien1890India, without entering manufacturing, came this far in economic growth. Africa still prefers Indian motorcycles than Chinese. Where did you get that fact? Royal Enfield motorcycles are graining popular in developed countries too. SUVs of Mahindra and Tata are also in the market outside India. With the improvement in manufacturing and Tertiary sector India's GDP will grow strong.
@barryobrien1890 Domestic economy is also important

The important reason behind the rapid growth of India's economy is the tireless hard work being done by Prime Minister Modi. Indians have full faith in PM Modi's policies and their intentions.

@@Kwippy it's business basically Americans are buying from cruel empire Saudi Arabia then why India not buy from Russia or even China USA buy alot of things even put there own factory's which actually they can put anywhere in the world !
Kuch bhi. Indians are an aspirational class. Buying a car or vehicle is seen as a step up in the social ladder.
Modiji also worked hard for success of Chandrayaan and in everything successful that India does like IT sector or winning golds by wrestlers, Chopra or PV Sindhu. His hard work can be seen everywhere.
I bet India has a huge appetite for cars. It's interesting to look at the biggest exporting countries in the world by dollar value. One chart I found showed Germany, Japan and the US as the top 3. Germany turns out to be by far the biggest car exporter in terms of dollars.
That's because Germany export luxury cars for the rich. BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen

On the plus side India has so much room to grow as an economy and has much more promise still. It’s is the only country in BRICS still capturing the heady idealism of the 2000s. China’s hyper growth era is over for the foreseeable future.
China's actual GDP is 9-12 trillion dollars they lied 2-3 % more about there data each year ! As per many economic indicators they lying with there Numbers
China is expected to grow at 4.5% this year vs India's 6.5%. Neither country is doing exceptional given the old dog USA is still trundling along at 2.2%. As economies grow, they naturally slow, as things max out. The USA cannot find enough workers to support its growth, while India and China have an issue with youth unemployment. I would not rule out China or the USA yet. Education is key to long term growth in India, and not slogans and semiconductor assembly lines. The falling participation of women in the organized sector, is a real concern, as they cannot contribute to India's growth and make up over half of India's school and college graduates. I am hopeful, but the market still favors China over India, despite the political ranting about how the dollar and china are finished. A quick peek at the numbers will deflate this belief.
