I love these corned beef hash from M&S. The only problem is they're rare in my local shop as they are a favourite of the local gang of grannies and you have to fight for them.
I made this last night! Not from a packet, but from the raw ingredients! The only difference was, I was using up the last of a piece of corned silverside (New Zealand's home-cook version of corned beef, that you boil for about 3 hours, in a mix of water, to which you add half a cup of malt vinegar and a tablespoon or two of golden syrup). It was delicious and there's enough for at least 3 more portions. I served mine with some broccoli, just for the added colour! I forgot to add the mustard, but it still tastes amazing. When I serve the freshly cooked corned beef it has a mustard sauce with it - the flavours are perfectly paired. If you ever get over here, do see whether you can find somewhere serving proper corned beef - when my brother visited from the UK he enjoyed it so much that we had to have it every 3rd day for the duration of his stay! (I was corned out by the end of a month!)
My dad used to make corned beef hash, for the family. Big pan (ten in the family) fill with sliced potatoes, carrots, onions and two tins of Fray Bentos corned beef, cook till potatoes are cooked, I personally put a couple of beef oxo’s in. Get a plate, put a slice of thick white bread on the bottom (Warburtons toastie bread in green pack) cover with hash, squirt brown sauce on, sadly I’m getting my body ready for the summer, so I will have to wait for the colder weather again. M&S food is the best, my go to shop. I don’t buy many pre-made foods, but the there, The Best Steak Pie, is one of my husbands favourites. You’re starting to get your spark back. One day at a time mate.
You can just cobble up your own version in a casserole dish - 1 large onion (sliced), tin of spuds, tin of carrots, small tin of processed peas, tin of corned beef, add a teaspoon of mustard & whatever seasoning you like - I use a bit of black pepper & mixed herbs. Great video once again.

It’s funny you picked this, because I bought some cans of Libby’s corned beef hash and recently cooked it - and the preparation of this makes all the difference! If you can get it really crispy, it’s delicious and has a wonderful texture. Tricky cooking it but delicious when cooked crispy. And a red hot sauce, like a cayenne pepper sauce, can be useful. Used to have the same ingredients in my favourite school dinner. But it had a pastry topping, with Baked beans & Peas inside added to the ingredients. It was a dinner that didn't arrive often enough..

Love a corned beef hash.. 😋 I usually get a tray of mash from tesco, corned beef from lidl, heat the mash in microwave, mash in the corned beef, add pepper, grill to crisp the top, add grated cheese and gravy.. Enjoy.. Cheap filling nosh on a cold night.
in the 60's my mum used to tell us not to mention we had corned beef for tea as it was seen as poor people's food lol. I really like corned beef but I wish there was a better way of opening the tin!
A lot of cheap or poor food is delicious. Price isn't really a factor in the quality of food IMO. Price is usually associated with how rare or how difficult a food is to catch, grow or breed, not for how tasty it is. For example Cod is now looked upon as a great tasting fish, yet it only became popular in chippy's because the fish was so plentiful and thus cheap. No matter how much pretentious food snobs might protest, stuff like caviar and truffles aren't some other worldy taste sensation sent from the gods, they are merely difficult or expensive to cultivate. If chips could only be obtained in a 2 week window by a deep sea diver at the bottom of the caspian sea and dependant on wether blue whales are mating on a full moon, I'm sure there'd be hordes of pretentious food snobs paying £1,000's for them. *Sorry, I think i just had an 'episode'.🤦♂🤦♂

I’m going to try that as I love M & S food but only occasionally. Not sure you can make it cheaper as a tin of corned beef now is expensive. When I was a child (along time ago !), corned beef hash was a cheap and cheerful meal but not now,
So glad to see you're on the mend, Gareth🥰 We tried that; got a pack each, and had it with peas and sweetcorn for an easy tea, after a busy day, and enjoyed it, but we both thought it could 've done with a bit more seasoning🤔 Take care and all the best🥰

Love corned beef hash with cabbage.great see you on soliides.👍
Looked great. You pay for the convenience. Good to see you back!
Yes! Thank you!
You really can't go wrong with any m s products 👍👍
in the 60's my mum used to tell us not to mention we had corned beef for tea as it was seen as poor people's food lol. I really like corned beef but I wish there was a better way of opening the tin!
Yes was used alot during the war
*Sorry, I think i just had an 'episode'.🤦♂🤦♂
so do i sometimes the key snaps off and then its not easy trying to use a tinopener around corners
it did say to stir before serving, so if it's a tad dry, mebbe it's because you didn't stir it in the dish before you plated it.
Don't think that made a difference as you eat it all together.
Oh yeah! That's just what I need, some tasty ready made meals like this to save me cooking all the time.. I love that nice little oven you got there too, it's great. Thanks for the review.
You're welcome 😊
Good to see you got something you like instead of Fray Bentos gloop lol
Am rather hungry ...it's only 9.30am Sunday morning ... Think trip to Marks later🤩
I used to love a good Hash-up. Especially when on exercise. Easy to make, even on a hexi burner.
I haven't had for quite a while now. The last one I had was from the Co-Op and it was really foul.
Another great review 👍👍.
Great to you that the jaws mending by god you looked like you were enjoying that corn beef hash. Thanks for the review❤
Yes it's getting better
you are looking well Gareth! thanks for the uploads!
My pleasure!
I’m going to try that as I love M & S food but only occasionally. Not sure you can make it cheaper as a tin of corned beef now is expensive. When I was a child (along time ago !), corned beef hash was a cheap and cheerful meal but not now,
Try Aldi own brand. Couple of quid
Corned Beef is bloody expensive these days! When I make mine it's more in the cottage pie style.
That looks delicious! I wonder if it is more expensive because it features British beef.
Oh I do love corn beef hash 😊💯
So glad to see you're on the mend, Gareth🥰 We tried that; got a pack each, and had it with peas and sweetcorn for an easy tea, after a busy day, and enjoyed it, but we both thought it could 've done with a bit more seasoning🤔 Take care and all the best🥰
Cheers Patrick 👍
I like beetroot on the side, goes great with it.
Yum...Have to make mine and use plant based cathedral cheese (which for an alternative cheese is the closest I have found yet)...one of my favourites. Glad you enjoyed and all the best.
Cheers Adz, yes tasty mate
Reminded me of Jerry singing Corned Beef Hash of Phoenix Nights 😂
"With chips or with salad"
😂😂👍
Iv always made corned beef Ash like a stew.. boiled potatoes carrots onion in a pan of hot water.. then added corned beef then the gravy.. then spoon it over yorkshire puddings.. I'm West yorkshire & was taught this way from been a kid..
Afternoon! Nicer to see you looking so chipper. I love corned beef hash. That's a bit pricey for me so I'll stick to homemade with beetroot on the side. Ta Gareth, keep well!
You're welcome 😊
That looks quite tasty. Might have to get myself one from M&S 😊nice to see you're recovering

Looks good enough for the price. After all corned beef these days cost more than £2-00 a tin. And I hope that you finished it off with a bit of bread and butter?.
Making my mouth water even if a bit expensive lol
I'm with you on this one Gareth, topped with free range fried eggs and brown sauce lashed all ower the top. Get up.😋
Sounds great!
Good review as usual Gareth. Funny enough I popped into Markies the other day for a few things and had one of those yesterday for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it
Thanks 👍
Corned beef in the UK sucks. If you crave the good stuff you have to make it yourself.
Looks delicious 😋 Love M&S food. Especially at Christmas ❤
