  • Today we installed new S&B silicone cab mounts on my 2011 Ford F250 SuperDuty. A few months ago I began noticing a squeaking noise that sounded like it was coming from the back seat. It was driving me insane! I couldn't figure out where the squeak was coming from until I crawled under the truck and saw the cab mounts were completely WASTED! That also explained how terrible the ride quality had gotten.
After some research I landed on the S&B silicone cab mounts. They have great reviews and S&B guarantees them for life. I called around to some local performance shops to get quotes on replacing the cab mounts. The best I could find was $800 for labor. So I decided to tackle the job myself and save some money.
It took about 7 hours to replace all 8 cab mounts on my driveway using a bottle jack and hand tools. But after a couple test drives I am happy to say the S&B silicon cab mounts were worth the money and the effort to install them! My truck rides smooth as butter now!

I did my 2016 F350 yesterday. I used a map gas torch to heat up the body mounts until the old rubber started to melt. I then used a 15 mm 6 point socket with 12 " extension on a long 1/2" ratchet. It was tough turning them ,but all 6 bolts came out with no problem. I then used a floor jack and a 2x6 to raise the side of the truck. Put in all mounts and tightened up bolts. 2 hour job rolling around on the concrete driveway. Test drive and seemed like a new truck . My truck has 200,000 miles. Great product

Thanks for the video. I followed your instructions and everything went fine. I only had to use the torch on 2 of the bolts, the came out pretty hard heated or not. I had a couple of the mounts that were stuck together pretty hard but a little prying and hammering and a few choice words they came apart!! Overall it went pretty good. Took me about 4.5 hours to complete the task. And what a difference it made! Thanks for your help!

Be prepared for it to take several hours to do them all. And the stock rubber mounts in the middle of the cab were the worst ones to get out. But all said and done, I’m glad I did them myself and saved at least $500 in labor. The ride quality afterwards is so much better.

Great Video. I've got the same issue with my F550 Work truck. I will be doing this sometime this week. My front 2 on the right side are the worst. I was mostly worried about lifting the body and pulling a harness or something. I'm glad to see you didn't have this issue. I have a single cab so I only have 6 to dear with. Just ordered my set for a 2013! I spent probably $5k rebuilding the suspension front/rear, new res shocks, springs, bump stops, and custom leaf pack and my cab is still noisey and rough over bumps, looking at my mounts they looked compressed and stiff as hell, I bet this will make a nigh and day difference in my ride!

@@WillowRidgeAcres they certainly made a difference, the cab is more quite and I don't hear all the creeks and groans I use it.
To be honest it isn't a night/day difference like I thought it would be, but it's certainly noticeable. Removing the old pucks they were hard as rock, so I know it was only a matter of time before they started to degrade and i was going to have to replace them anyways, so might as well replace them with something that will last the life of the truck.

I've bought the S&B mounts just trying to decide if I'll do them myself or have a shop do them due to the number of videos I've seen where people run into issues getting the old bolts out. I was wondering did you have any vibration in the steering wheel with the old worn out mounts by chance that went away with the new mounts? I have a little bit of vibration almost like a warped rotor but can't tell if it's caused by the rough ride on the crappy bushings. I figure I'll replace the bushings first then see but was just curious. Thanks!

Everyone's comments on here have been very helpful. I have a couple questions on the S & B mounts as mine are being delivered today.
I have seen a lot of comments on the retainer nuts (or clips) breaking or spinning.
    1. Are these something I should go ahead and order before getting started? From what I can see, they do not come with the kit?
    2. Are the clips in every position or just the front?
    3. How the heck do you get to these things? And do you need to get to them to have a tool holding it when you start removing the bolt?
Again thanks everyone for the input and your help is greatly appreciated. I'm ready to get these done and excited I'm installing a Titan tank as soon as I get these done.

You should unbolt all bolts at the same time so you don’t bind up then you can change 1 whole side at a time

So what should we torque them at? Does a long bed have more?

    • @WillowRidgeAcres
      @WillowRidgeAcres  Рік тому

Torque specs are 76ft-lbs or about 5 ugga-duggas. The cab mounts are only for the cab so the bed length doesn’t matter. The super crew has more cab mounts than a single or extended cab though.

2008 and up ford changed the cab bushing material to a foam type rather than a silicone type that was used in previous models. The foam on newer models falls apart! Some owners with 2019 and newer are having to replace them. My 99 and 2000 can bushings are original, but my 08 are trash!

The cab can only fall back 3-4 inches onto the frame. I honestly don't see the danger. The wheels were still installed on the truck sitting feet off the ground with plenty of room to work from underneath. If the wheels were removed it would be a different story.

It’s only a lifetime warranty if you take it to and have a qualified shop do the install. It says on the instructions that if you install it yourself you void the lifetime warranty. You should be telling the viewers that in your video. Otherwise great video!
