I love where you hung them! I just found your channel and am so excited. I found a kindred spirit. Hugs and congrats on your amazing home. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge and talents!
We live very rurally so can't shop often except for our local senior center thrift store. This store is very small and can't keep a lot of items. I found a Blendtec blender for 5.00 there. I working singer sewing machine for 5.00. My daughter and I love thrift store shopping and most of her beautiful wardrobe is from thrift stores. I can't go anymore but my husband and daughter go and love looking for books, clothes, vintage costume jewelry for me, etc. A jeweler's loupe can be used for jewelry but also to look for brush strokes on painted porcelain or glass like Fenton.
Thank you! I love thrifting and went yesterday on a quick trip. I bought several items I do love and am always looking for such as vintage art and old books, but without a thought or any plan in my head! 😀 I'll look forward to keeping your tips in mind the next time I go!
I had no patience for thrifting when my kids were little, but now that I can go by myself again, I’m rediscovering how fun it can be! We share a weakness for pretty (fussy!) old dishes. Love seeing your collection. Co
I never shop with value in mind. If I love it ,I get it. Weather it replaces for 25 cents or $25.00 doesn't matter. I am sure I have lots of both. I love thrifting. Books,baskets,art,textiles,dishes.... just love the thrill of the hunt. Most times I do have a small list I'm looking for. But most times I come home with things I didn't know I needed or wanted... but spoke to me. I do think the plates on the wall need a third item. The theory of three.
Thank you for your common sense guidelines forthrifting.... I feel more prepared for n ext thriving Adventure. I so enjoy your videos can't wait for the next video. Your NC kindred spirit Lee of Vern and Lee.
Hi Lauri! Loved this episode! The bird plates are lovely on that wall. I agree you might find a third "something" to coordinate on that wall. You have a great eye for thrifting and got some fab finds. I adore your home, it is elegant and classy. Already anticipating your next video. Love from Michigan ♥️♥️
I enjoy thrifting as well. I am seeing much higher prices this year than in previous. I'm still finding interesting things though. I definitely learned tips from your video. Please keep making them. Thanks.
Excellent video, Lauri, very informative! And the bird plates are fantastic! I loved them when they were sitting on the table, and even more so after they were hung! Looking forward to next week's video. ♥
Great video! I love thrifting. I have bought many great finds. I noticed some of your china was stamped but the stamp placements were off center. That means it was not first quality. I keep a list too. Loved the bird plates & i think they look very classy on the wall.
I love the bird plates. I like playing with scale so maybe you will find a piece of art in a small rectangular frame to go between the plates, say maybe in the 6 inch range. Good tips here! To viewers who don't know, if art is a print, then under magnification there is a pattern of overlapping, uniform dots from the printer.
I collect the coaching scenes dishes but rarely ever find them. My grandmother passed the set down to me and I am always trying to add to it. My grandmother has been gone a long time now. They mean a lot to me.
HELLO FELLOW DMVer!!! For those who think I referring to the Division of Motor Vehicles, I’m not. In our area DMV also stands for District of Columbia, Maryland & Virginia (DMV). The triangle that forms the DMV is also called the Metro Area or for those in Virginia, specifically referring to “Northern” Virginia. You and I are obviously in the same area, thus we’re shopping the same stores (Salvation Army, 2nd Avenue, Savers, etc.), matter of fact, we’ve met. We recently had a short pleasant conversation over some random costume jewelry, which was fun. Anyhoo nice to know you have a YouTub channel. I’ll subscribe so I can be jealous over the fun finds you picked up that I missed. lol Hope you have fun Spring thrifting. See you again soon. Enjoy 🌼
This is a terrific place to thrift since State Dept, political and military folks are constantly moving and leaving behind treasures! Be sure to introduce yourself if you see me again.
Savers in Goodyear Arizona are wonderful their items and prices are great. We now live in Central California and the Goodwills are terrible prices here.
How did you hang the plates with the wire? Did you drill holes on the lip of the plate to pass the wire through? I am very interested in how you did this. I am so glad I have found your channel? We have a very similar decorating style. I love the way you have decorated your home. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching more of your videos:)
Thanks so much for your kind comment. The plates were designed to be hung and have 2 little holes at the top of the back rim. The wire hangers I have bought in the past to use with plates now come with little plastic things on them, so they are better than my old ones. The plate near the library is hung with an old one. I have also recently hung a plate with Command Strips. Hope that helps.
I got my Gotham Noritake from eBay. There was no way to find it from 1900 at the local thrift stores! I think thrift stores are great for artists and designers.
I only allow myself thrift shopping, not THEFT SHOPPING like spell Chuck changed it to! Once a quarter. I bought a Lenox Holiday Punch Bowl for $5. It listed for $500.0 on replacements! I am now looking for matching pillowcases. I make ponchos for breast cancer and dialysis patients. The pocket is as large as a pillowcase on front and back.
A Note about your Bavaria Plates: yes, they might be as old as you think, but No, Bavaria stamps are used in Germany until today, even If it is Not its own country.
Thanks so much for your correction. I thought American import laws required the country of origin stamp. Maybe if items weren't made for export?? I would love to read more about that, so let me know if you have any good sources. I really am that much of a nerd! I always look for "Germany" vs "West Germany" to give me a general idea about age. Thanks again!
I love your bird plates. You have good eyes for beautiful things .
Thank you so much!
I love the plates you hung on the wall! Beautiful, rich colors! I also learned something new about the markings on the plates. Thank you for sharing!
Awesome! Thank you!

Serious thrifters say the rural stores are a real treasure. Your Blendtec wins the prize so far for the best deal!
Those tiny local thrifts are better in a way. Price & quality
It is obvious that you have trained as a teacher. You explain things so well.
How kind of you to say.

Love that! When the kids were little, it was all i could do to shop for groceries. We need another tea party.
Love the Bavarian plates and they are perfect where you've placed them.
Thank you!
Great haul and information 😊❤

A very enjoyable and educational video. Thank you for sharing.
So nice of you
The 2 Bavarian bird plates are gorgeous! The colors, at least on this end, are stunning!
Thank you for the validation! The more I look at them, the better I like them.
love your channel! So good, simple.
Thank you for watching!

I always appreciate your kind comments.
Loved the bird plates on that wall.
Yeah!
I love the bird plates! I think they're really beautiful and I knew they were Bavarian as soon as you pulled them out. What a find!
Glad you like them! I am more familiar with the Dresden than the Bavarian. Sharp eye!
@@stonecottageadventures304 my Mother collects Bavarian pieces, so I've seen lots of it.

Thanks for the info! Like I care if the stamp is off center. Haha
Great tips. My family thrifts for Christmas gifts too. Love all your finds. 🤗

You can imagine how excited I was to find them! Happy hunting and Merry Christmas.
My tip is to use things for other than their original purpose. Like what is maybe a baby ashtray could be a teabag rest
Definitely!
ME encantan las tiendas de segunda mano 😍
💫~Loved! 👍
So glad!
Isn't it amazing! You have such a good eye.

Thrifting is not only economical but also eco-friendly, something that really resonates with the youngest generation Gen Z
