whenever I'm introducing a friend to ashes the first 2 things i do is send them that peon vid and that asmongold interview. something about those videos just spoke to my soul.
OMG this area, UI, icons, action bars, minimap, health bar... are so clean and niceeeeee... I hope they have a great and healthy in-game economic system, please don't make gathering resources easy to get that became less valuable, and don't make unnecessary glow on armor or weapons too much, it looks less exclusive, except for skins... just make it simple but looks very exclusive
One of the things i'm curious about the closer i get to alpha 2, is how many of the people i see in the community will i be seeing on the server I'm in. If there are up 30-50 thousand people on NA servers, doesn't sound too unreasonable for it to be split between 2-3 servers. Would love to see the different content creators that I watched over the last 2 years, having their guilds and individual impact on the server. Hyped to be able to interact and compete with people.
They already had 200k A2 testers and wanted at least 100k more, so 300k planned for... That's 6 server clusters, at least, if they hit target of 50k accounts and 10k playing per server. "Just for A2" ... should be interesting.
I try not to keep up with this game because of the fact that it makes we want to play it too badly. Hopefully we're closer than we think to that becoming reality.

I dont trust a Streamer that says they get hyped over open world pvp. They usually take a ton of precautions to not get stream-sniped because NOBODY LIKES GETTING GANKED REPEATEDLY. Which will happen in any game with full open world pvp. It always does.

I go back and forth on it. I definitely see that perspective but then on the other end, as long as then corruption system is punishing you won't see much anyway.
@@JohnAPrescott Well exactly, but creating a haven for the enemy, so they can gank people and then take refuge, (and potentially sell or bank their loot, and/or escape), is actually creating a bigger problem. If they get killed, they lose their loot, probably get ported back to their home node, and suffer corruption that means that anything they want to do for a while is going to be either harder or impossible. Why provide undesirables with a better option?
Better is subject but assuming they achieve their vision there will be a lot more incentive to pvp in Ashes. Unlike most MMOs Ashes will actually have benefits for open world pvp.
Alpha 2 will permanently transform into beta 1 and 2 was always my understanding. As in, everything is gonna be the same, but at some point the open test is not gonna be called alpha 2 but instead beta 1.
AoC seems to be following a more conventional IT methodology for Testing. So, You normally have 4 complete "Systems". 1. You have a "Development system where the programmers test their own code as they write it. 2. This is then promoted to a technical "Integration Test Area, for the developers to test their stuff together. 3. This is then promoted to a "User Test Area", in gaming terms, a PTR. 4. Then this is promoted to the production Area. Loosely speaking, the test phases equate to the setting up of the test Areas/Systems. Alpha1 is the Development area, Alpha 2 is the creation of the Integration test Area. Beta1 is the creation and test for the PTR, and Beta2 is the test of the Production Area(s). The game slowly makes its way up the 4 areas in releases/patches, and gets fully tested on the way up. My thought is that because of the size/scope of the game, the A2/Integration testers may need more than the internal Testers, to make sure that they can keep the Beta testers busy, and there isn't a bottleneck in integration testing. The earlier in the process you catch a bug the easier it is to fix, because there are less likely to be dependencies. The Integration area tends to test you haven't broken something else rather than testing whether the change/feature itself works. The Area itself is always there even after go live, so it isn't a big deal.
I've been of the assumption that betas 1 and 2 will be on what the live servers will be, and alpha 2 will shift to their pts platform. I'm not a tech guy though so I could be way off
@@isth3reno1else the point is that the testing you do in the functional process sense, for "Beta 1" testing, you have to do from then on for every bug fix, patch and release. At the start of Beta 2, the Beta 2 test Area will just be an exact clone of Beta 1, but as soon as they make the first fix, the change will be put into Beta 1 first for at least a cursory test, before they risk bringing down the Beta 2 and delaying things. If they are using the Beta 1 system to do Beta 2, where are they going to do that check? A testing phase is cyclic, not linear.
