- As May was the month for love and passion, June is the grown up version and is all about marriage. Although sadly the weather never quite lives up to the expectations as three out of four June’s are wet. However this does set us up nicely for a wonderful summer, and especially if the Midsummer Solstice bodes well. As the wheel of the year turns the spells and practices of the witch move with the seasons and naturally we loom towards long term partnerships at this time, especially as the energy of cancer is all about family and home. I love to do ‘together spells’ at this time as it really brings the monthly trends into my practice.

Lovely video! It's very important to highlight that St. John's Wort is NOT to be taken if one is already taking antidepressants and other medication. People should be very very careful before taking it.😊

I make a wonderful oil from St Johns Wort. It turns an orangey red if the flowers of the plant are steeped in olive oil & left on a sunny windowsill to infuse for a few weeks. It is very good for rubbing onto aching joints. I also use it as the base oil for my protection oil.

Just a quick disclaimer on using St. John’s wort for depression; it doesn’t interact well with several medications, pain killers being one of them. Basically, it will build up in your system and not pass through each day if someone is on a daily pain medication. I only know this because I have a relative on heavy pain meds that had depression and originally wanted to try this for them but after speaking with the pharmacist and doing some research, learned it’s not safe. However, it is said in many studies to work better than the most widely prescribed antidepressant so do give it a try if it’s safe! It’s great for the winter blues.
It can also affect the eyes so be careful.

I found St. John’s Wort for the first time growing in my pasture last summer. I tinctured the fresh flowers as I’ve read the plant loses some of its medicinal properties once dried. It’s so funny that you pull it up because it’s a nuisance! ❤️
