i really appreciate you making these videos. ive been making music for years and have been so scared to post music out of fear of failing..you changed my entire perspective ! thank you for that
Yes interesting. Tell me more or do you have a video on the subject of licenses. How about the license for mp3, wave. How and where the buyer can use the purchased track. For example, the buyer used the purchased music in his video on youtube. Will UA-cam bring copyright infringement to him? How do you regulate this? Shopify can help here. Now UA-cam strictly monitors copyright.
Great information bro! I built a store through volusion with hundreds of tracks but it isn't the greatest for digital in the long run. This really helped.
Thank you for this series bro! I’m claiming this now - I would love to work with you this year! I create music as well and I’m from Chicago!! You’re super dope and inspiring and I appreciate these uploads! Thank you!! ❤️
Those are always the words I wanna hear because I aim to inspire and help! Thanks for choosing to watch always. Much more to come on this series especially. I want to get out to Chicago this year hopefully so maybe we can work that out!
Hey bro awesome video. I’m gonna start going for this Shopify route but I have one question. Is it ok to put in the description of every beat the terms of a lease, tagged and exclusive or should I still make a contract before selling a lease? I just don’t want to have legal problems in the future.
Thank u so much man I have huge passion for production and music I really wanna try my shot I know I know what good music is and really want to show the world what I like and wanna do!!
Go for it! That’s the only way to do it man. Go after what you love and put out your message. Someone will always be out there to listen whether it’s 1 or 100 or 10,000
I want off Beatstars and Airbit type platforms. This is exactly what I needed Lxgend. Thank you for going in depth on this one. Implemented my store tonight
Hey man!!! did you try woocommerce? I mean .. shopify does have a cost .. and I allready have a web on wordpress (with hosting).. Also.. I wanna sell licenses for instrumental music for filmmakers to use on their videos/films/tv, etc ... any advice?
This video is my advice. I haven’t tried woocommerce nor do I have a wordpress. Shopify is ahead of the rest because you can run retargeting ad campaigns on google or FB. For every person who visits your site, they will see your ads again. Don’t know if woocommerce has that or apps. You can use Shopify for any of this though.
When using this, how do you setup for them to sign a contract before they check out? Do they have a app they can sign a lease contract before receiving the beat?
Thank you for the motivational, inspirational and informative video which I watched at least 3 times I just wanted to know though does shopify automatically generate isrc codes for digital products?
IAMLXGEND To use Single you need an ISRC or UPC code, does that mean you use a streaming service like DistroKid or Tunecore? What about Type Beats? Am I still expected to be signed up with a streaming service in that case? If not is it possible to sell Type Beats on Shopify?
Ahh I see. I’m currently building my own store. How do you attach files like .zip, wav, and mp3 options? Is that the inbuilt file distribution you mentioned? Or is it using the Digital Downloads app. Maybe I just don’t know how to use that app yet. Anyways I appreciate the response a ton!
On my beat’s page page I write the terms in the description of the product page. So as soon as they purchase they are automatically agreeing to those terms. Alternatively you can sell the beat to them, don’t make it automatic fulfillment. Send a contract first, once they sign, then you manually send the beat.
No. That’s the point of going this route as explained in the video. You’re making money from direct sales. Not Streams. If you’re worried about collecting royalties if your music gets played somewhere without ur knowing you’d have to go through a PRO or a distributor for streaming royalties, yes.
Do you think you could make more sales if you were to embed a music player to your website instead of just using UA-cam to send traffic to the purchase page? Great video by the way, very informative for all of us upcoming producers!
100% of my traffic comes from youtube so anyone on the site has already heard the music. it wouldn’t change anything unless I had traffic coming from somewhere else.
Depends on what you’re selling, what your brand is, how you want to portray that... Are you a writer, producer, artist, all of the above? Are you selling songs, beats, services, merch? Lol
thank you so much for this , my only doubt is how do people preview the music ? id like to sell sounds and loops instead of releases and would like that people are able to preview them without going somewhere else, is this possible ? thank u so much
sorry I just scrolled and realised this question was asked before , is then single (app) the best option still to avoid Soundcloud , youtube ect? you are so kind thank u
External audio plugin? there are no plugins with Shopify lol. You’ll need either an app to preview your beats or embed a player from UA-cam/soundcloud/Bandcamp
I've been using beatstars for over 2 years now. I'm looking for something new and fresh. I don't hear many producers talking about shopify. Can the artist preview the beats before they purchase?
That’s because Shopify is not a music based platform. It’s for any type of e-commerce. People just don’t take the time to learn it. Yes they can preview the beats. But you have to be the one to set that up by downloading an app for your store in the Shopify app marketplace.
@@IAMLXGEND yeah for sure I've been dropshipping using shopify. Just never thought about selling my beats on there until I saw your video. Thanks alot. 🙏
There is a way to preview them. Music player Apps in the App Store on Shopify, SoundCloud / band camp / UA-cam playlist embeds. 100% of the music sold on my site is from videos posted on my UA-cam channel that links directly to the purchase.
Quick question: Can I use a snippet for my beat to let the customer know how it sounds or I need to upload it on another platform like UA-cam (s/o to you for the great content)
With an App like Single (Shopify app) you can. Otherwise you can upload snippet forms of your best to soundcloud or youtube or bandcamp and embed the playlist into the website.
IAMLXGEND ok man thanks, and also how do you give the listener a taste of what they are buying using your methods. Does the digital downloads app allow playing of the product?
No because I use mine for educational purposes which falls under fair use. I break down how to achieve these sounds in my UA-cam series Trackout Tuesday to help producers and artists progress their musical abilities.
Digital download won’t work unless you set yourself product up to have digital downloads enabled and you upload whatever the digital download is to that product
@@IAMLXGEND I'm trying to sell music exactly how you are demonstrating Sir! But Beats mp3 trackouts and Waves and a digital contract attachement if they allow
No, Not a song. But beats? Yes. People buy beats from me for $500. No offense taken. You just have to recognize your own value and find the people willing to pay.
I agree on that, but I was still a little unsure. Thanks for responding bro🙏, and I want to say that you realy heplped me gettin better with understanding how to produce, mix, and all that, so keep on with this channel its awsome🙏
kast0071 which one? I have 2. Nothing happened to them. Both are still open. My product Shopify, I just ran out of ad money. My music Shopify is still there as well.
Yes, let’s be real: Every subscription service on earth has a trial for the purpose of letting you test out the service before paying. That’s how they all do it so this isn’t new. The cheapest option they have to have a full site up and running is about $15 not including the price of apps. What I pay for mine and all the apps is around $35 a month. A very very very small price to pay when you build your traffic to bring in $700-900 a month. That’s giving me a $665-865 profit..... I will happily pay $35 a month for that.
You are more than welcome to go with beatstars or any of those other best selling sites but not only will you be paying monthly, you’ll also be paying them a larger percentage of every sale you make unless you pay MORE per month for them to take less. Your choice.
I have to ask. I know it's done a lot on beat stars but you're selling beats for 25 bucks. And track outs for $150. What's the logic in this business model? I'm having a hard time getting into this online beats thing because I can't see selling something that took me time to compose and create melodies for, for less than 500 bucks (with track outs requiring a contacting and a few Gs). What about this $50 business model am I missing and are you still getting your publishing?
I’m not selling beats for $25 and I’m not selling Trackouts for $150. Idk where you got those numbers. I sell Trackouts for no less than $500. And I lease no less than $50. Any lease less than $50 is on sale. And any exclusive less than $500 is being sold as is meaning there is no Trackout available.
@@IAMLXGEND Word. I saw it on your video. But this is a discussion I'm trying to start too because this low pricing is common on beatstars and I find it hard to take someone serious who wants to pay 25 bucks for a beat that they are using for career purposes (unless they just want me to take 10 minutes out of my life and assemble a song from a bunch of apple loops and go about my business cause that's all I'm doing for less than 100)
The video is just an example. Those are not my actual numbers. I’m just showing it as demonstration. I also hate the current model of selling beats for $20-25 and exclusives for $100 sometimes 3 for $150. I think that is extremely stupid so I don’t do that. Leasing for $25 is ok. Because if you sell volume that money adds up. And you can sell that track forever. However, selling exclusives for less than $500 I think is the dumbest thing ever.
Thanks for the video, man. Making money from music is an idea very, very far from where I am but I hope to get there someday. I’m a total beginner to music production and I’m lost as to where I should start. To give you an idea, I learned that Garageband exists last week. I have no formal instrumental/ musical training. Only experience I have is 14 years of constantly listening to a wide range of music. I’m just this kid with a Macbook Pro and a love for music. I’ve been trying to research online about what to do, but there’s just so many things I could do that I have no clear idea about what to actually do. Any advice for someone like me? Edit: This video is an example of the type of music I want to make: ua-cam.com/video/TYCBicKyVhs/v-deo.html
The only way to learn is to dive in and try. That’s how I did. I just basically got my program and played around with it until I figured it out. Turning knobs, clicking random buttons. Hands on experience has always been, hands down, the best way for me to learn but it depends on you. Also watch tutorials on UA-cam. I have a few but will be making more for complete beginners like yourself.
IAMLXGEND Thanks for the reply, man. I really respect how you personally reply to every comment. I will definitely try to mess around with Garageband and try to get a feel for how the software works. As a side question, what do you think about lofi music?
Thanks man and it’s good to see someone notice the time it take to respond to everyone haha even negative comments. I think it’s very important to do especially starting out but even if you’re huge, because it’s all about a community and helping people. About Lofi, I love it.
I GROSSED $250,000 in 2 years... Do you not know how a business works? I have business expenses. And taxes to pay. That $250,000 turns to $60,000 real quick when you have $60,000 in marketing costs to pay. Another $60,000 in product cost. And the overhead it took me to make that $250,000. I’m NOT taking home $250,000. No business takes home the amount of money they gross. There is a such thing as NET pay. And news flash: one of those things I was paying for was email marketing. 🤦🏾♂️ the business has since subsided due to competition in my niche and I ran through money testing advertisements... so no. I currently do not have that kind of money right now to pay for email marketing. Next question.
@@IAMLXGEND I could help you get that business back to viability and profitability if you'd like. I absolutely know how business works, especially digital marketing. I'm a musician but I've been doing marketing and got away from composing for years. I found you in my search for information on distributing my compositions. So my next question is: would you like to optimize you content across all platforms to maximize your returns? If you made $250k in 24mos once before, then you already have A HUGE advantage when it comes to implementing new strategies. And it DOESN'T cost an arm and a leg! I HATE that you burned through all that money!! 😩 But I'll get you the tools you need to market your music products, I'll also give you tax and financial resources absolutely free for the love. My God man, trust me you'll make that money again and I'll show you how to keep it. You'll never pay income tax like that again! Leave me your best personal email. We'll talk.
It wasn’t in music that I made the $250,000. It was selling physical products. I’d love to get it back to viability, but I currently have no money to put into it right now.
@@IAMLXGEND I see. You need a come up story. A bounce back tale that'll inspire and help alot of people. You can take your experience and turn it into a big positive. Don't worry about the money. You already have something worth just as much if not MORE... Your knowledge and ability. That's all you'll need to get started with me. Just let me know how to reach you, well go from there.

✌🏾🥳
Thanks for the video, man. Making money from music is an idea very, very far from where I am but I hope to get there someday.
I’m a total beginner to music production and I’m lost as to where I should start. To give you an idea, I learned that Garageband exists last week.
I have no formal instrumental/ musical training. Only experience I have is 14 years of constantly listening to a wide range of music.
I’m just this kid with a Macbook Pro and a love for music. I’ve been trying to research online about what to do, but there’s just so many things I could do that I have no clear idea about what to actually do.
Any advice for someone like me?
Edit: This video is an example of the type of music I want to make:

You made $250k but you don't have "that kinda money right now" to pay for an email marketing service??? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Come on bruh...I was all it until.
Yo looks like a lot but works I’m gone check them out .. Oh check me out on SoundCloud.. peemoDirty if you will let me know what you think. You make want to step my game up bruh think you..
You want feedback on your music you mean?
